Tried to access Hertz car rental online to get the AAA member discount. It did not ask for my membership info until check out and then indicated that the number was optional! Membership is not necessary to get a Hertz discount on the AAA website. When I called my local office to inquire about this, the person on the other end said the online reservations was not run by AAA or Hertz but a third party. When I told her my experience she said she is trained on her system there in the AAA office and doesn't know anything about the online reservations system. She pulled up a possible MEMBER'S RATE reservation for me that cost $30 more than the online "we don't care who you are" rate. She was not interested in the obvious consumer questions, like "why should I have this membership?" and didn't care that I had them. "Not my job, don't know, don't care, I can give you another number to call, yada, yada". Scam Scam. Cancelling membership and getting roadside from my auto insurance co.

I came today to the Headquarters Office in St. Louis Park, MN to get International Driving Permit (IDP) to be able to drive in Europe on vacation. Left 1 hour later without getting one – could not wait any longer.
No help from personnel. They have a ticket system which fails to tell you your wait time is going to be one hour. After a 45 minutes wait and no info of any kind I approached the counter and asked if this is normal. They said yes. After another 15 minutes my ticked showed up for service, and I was told that I had been waiting at the wrong counter.
I asked for the manager. The manager, who did not give me her name, said she sees no problem on their side, and that I should have read the rules on the wall.
The big poster at the entrance to AAA says “TAKE A TICKET AND WAIT” in large letters. There is indeed another poster on the wall (among many more posters) that gives other directions in smaller print.
The manager also told me that their branch is the only place to get the IDP, and that I have no choice but to come back to them. They are authorized by the US Government to issue IDPs.

On July 2, 2018, AAA sent me an email informing me that my membership was set up for automatic renewal. Since I was not planning to renew my membership, I went to the website and unchecked the auto-renew box, so that I would not be charged. However, upon checking my bank statements on July 17, I discovered that my card had been charged for membership renewal. I went to the website and saw that the auto-renew box was checked in spite of previously unchecking it. I attempted several times to uncheck the box, but was unsuccessful. I would like a refund of the $106 AAA charged my credit card against my will on July 16, 2018 and to let my membership expire.

AAA Minneapolis Response • Jul 18, 2018

AAA Minneapolis has reversed the charge of $106 to *** card and marked his membership to not renew. The website can't remove an auto renew option for security reasons. A member can always call, chat or email his/her request for a modification to their membership.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I asked for a refund on the membership charge and for the business to let my membership expire and the business agreed to both in their response.

I am a AAA member and with that membership comes roadside assistance with up to 4 tows per year. I had car trouble last evening and was able to make it to work. I immediately called triple A to get my car towed. When they received my call, I was informed that hey had a high number of calls and weren’t able to get to me right away, but they would be able to that evening. I then left my car, unattended in a busy parking lot, with the assurance that they would be there that even to pick it up and tow it to the agreed, and safe, location. It’s been over 16 hours now and no action has been taken to tow my car away. I called this morning expressing my frustration and they told me that I should call a private towing company and see if They could tow it for me. Absolutely unacceptable. I pay for my triple a membership for this very reason. So I don’t need to shell out over 240 dollars for a tow. So when things like this happen that triple a is there. This is the poorest customer service I have ever received with anything, especially something I pay a membership for.

AAA Minneapolis Response • Jan 26, 2018

Our member, Jacob ***, called AAA on January 2 at 7:35 pm requesting an unattended tow. Call #11113. An option was provided to him, if he was in an immediate situation, to seek a private towing option and then submit a reimbursement form to AAA. AAA did provide service to him, the next day, on January 3. On Tuesday, AAA responded to approximately 1,800 requests for service. For comparison, AAA usually receives 350-400 service calls. Extreme weather conditions due to cold weather resulted in longer response times however the member was serviced.
