AAA Philly's Bartending School, Incorporated Reviews (5)

Review: On April 2 2013, I went to the Authentic Bartending School to view the facility and meet with the director [redacted] to receive more information about the program. I was asked to leave some type of deposit to hold a spot for me so I would be able to start classes in the beginning of May. I was told if I were to change my mind and decided not to attend I would receive a full refund of my deposit. I did my research on this website(Revdex.com) and found numerous bad reviews about the facility. I decided to contact to [redacted] and inform him that I was not interested the same day of meeting with him and giving a deposit. He informed me that I needed to get a notarized letter stating that I was no longer interested in attending his classes. I sent off the notarized letter the same day informing the school I will not be attending and that I would like to receive my deposit back. Since then I've contacted them on several different occasions and each time I have been given excuses varying from "the bank was supposed to mail it off sorry","I will mail it off from the office myself","you should have received it","to it was NEVER mailed off". Still to this day I have yet to receive my refund. All in all this school is quick to take your money and never give it back.+Desired Settlement: To receive my refund

Review: I went down to the bartending school to get information and I was interested and the gentlemen who interviewed me ask me to fill out application and leave a 50.00 deposit which I did.

The next day I changed my mine and called to tell them I was not going to attend the school, I was still in college and at the time I could not start, I was going to wait. the person on the phone said

I had to notify them within 3 days in writing that I was cancelling and my refund would be retuned. I sent a overnight letter and got confirmation it was received within the time framed allowed by them.

I have been in contact with them over these last few months, and I keep getting a run around. One lady told me was declined because it was received in a timely matter. I told her that's not true and sent her my confirmation

papers from the post office. I have left numerous phone calls and even emailed the one girl Courtney I was dealing with to help me with this situation. She has left the company and gave me her supervisors extension Katie,

but again nothing.

I hope that this practice of taking money and not honoring there policy does not happen a lot, but I do want the refund due me by there policy and will reach out to everyone until I get it.

I am also thinking of customer complaints on action news and eyewitness news to make people aware of this school.

Review: I signed up to take classes with Authentic Bartending school on December 26 2012 with a start date of January 21 2013 every Monday for the next 12 weeks from 7 pm to 10pm. I attend my first class and thought that this was the first night for everyone there however I was wrong. Their was students there who was on there 3rd week. The instructor took an hour to collect payments from everyone and then processed to start the class. Another day a different instructor, he ([redacted]) was not in the room at 7:00 I did not what was going on. He did not come in until 7:30. [redacted] started to teach class but did not go into a lot of detail with the assignment because he had about 10 new students that was starting that night. So the older students just sat around either talking, mixing drinks at least the ones that we knew how to do or reading books while [redacted] taught orientation to the new students. Then he collect payments and sent us home. It was a waste of time because if you had questions because he was teaching a different group of students. I missed a day because I was sick and the following week I received a letter from them telling me that I owe them money and if I do not pay them then they send my account to a collection agency. They did not call me to find out why I did not come in the only thing they was concerned with is getting paid. They have false advertisement and lie just to get money. I attend 4 classes and they did get paid in full. I called today and spoke with a [redacted] he said that he is the director, and I ask him if I could get a refund he told me no because they already paid the instructor to be there to teach and if I'm not there then that's on me. I explained my issue about how I feel as though the school does not have a good system and if I'm paying my money I would like fro the class to start on time and all students is on the same page. That is not the case with them.Desired Settlement: I'm not asking for all my money back because I did take classes however I would like at least half of my money.

Review: I enrolled in Authentic Bartending School 7/24/13, providing the school with $250.00 for partial tution and books. On 7/25/13 I opt out of enrollment due to financial hardship and a personal manner. I provided the school a CERTIFIED and NOTORIZED letter (as stated in the policy within 5 buisness days) to request a full refund. The school has refused to refunded the $250.00. I have spoken to serveral persons regarding this manner. [redacted] (accounts manager) spoke with me on 9/6/2013 apologizing for the incovience of having to speak with multiple persons regarding my refund and the matter not being corrected. He stated on 9/6/13 he would refund my $250.00 by 9/13/13. I have not received no refund on the date of guarantee and the company refuses to let me speak with the school director regarding this manner. It has now been 2 months of going back and forth with this company regarding my money.Desired Settlement: A full refund in the amount of $250.00

Response:

Student received orientation class same day she enrolled into the program which locks her contract and voids out 5 day refund policy. $250 deposit was required for her to expidate her training course which is normally non refundable. She did speak with the director of the training facility and he Override company policy and issued a refund to the student. Student received refund 5 days ago. Student received a full refund including a non refundable $55 registration fee and $75 non refundable book fee. We never received our book back. We have all contracts and forms on file.

I am rejecting this response because:The way the situation was handled overall was very unprofessional. The policy clearly states the proper refund policy which they did not follow and it took them two, almost three months to issues a refund they claim they sent back in July once I opted out of the school. However, I received it two months later in person since the check was never mailed. Furthermore, to complain about a book that hasn't been updated in ages is unacceptable. The book is not sufficient enough for the price and inadequate for the proper teachings of "BARTENDING" the school is a overall gimmick and very unprofessional. I would not recommend this school.

Review: Approximately August 7,2014 I went to Authentic Bartending and met with one of the recruiters/teachers to talk about the classes offered, the schedule and times of the classes. At the end of the meeting myself and the recruiter signed paperwork agreeing to a class schedule as follows: Mon-Thurs 1-4p for 3 weeks beginning on Aug 11, 2014. At this time I paid to Courtney of Authentic Bartending $130.00 in cash (7 x $20 bills totaling $140.00 and received 1 $10 bill in change). This was the cost of the book and registration fees. Leaving a balance of $345.00 to be paid over the next three weeks at $115.00 a week. On Fri Aug 8,2014 I received a confirmation phone call from Katie confirming the start date and time. Either Sat or Sun I received an email from Katie asking if I would be able to attend a class that Mon that would instead be from 4-7p. After numerous attempts the morning of Aug 11,2014 to contact Katie, I was finally able to reach Courtney who informed me classes would be 4-7p that week. I told Courtney it was unacceptable and I was requesting a full refund. Courtney directed me to speak with Katie directly. After several more attempts I was not successful at reaching Katie. Over the week I called several times and left many messages for Katie asking to contact me.I was finally able to reach Katie on Aug 14,2014 who informed me that classes would not only be 4-7p that week but for the subsequent weeks of my contract. At this time I informed Katie that this was unacceptable. The contract I signed was specifically for 1-4 for the next three weeks and I would not be attending and expect full refund. Katie told me she needed to speak with her people because the money I had paid was non refundable. At which time I informed her that I was not in breach of our agreement but Authentic Bartending had changed our contract and I didn't agree with the changes and expected full refund. Katie told me she would get back to me no later than the following Mon. That would have been Aug 18,2014. I have made several more attempts to contact Katie and have tried other extensions at Authentic Bartending without success. As of this day Aug 21, 2014, I have not received my refund of $130.00 nor a returned phone call. Since I am without resolution I am filling a claim against Authentic Bartending.Desired Settlement: Refund in full of $130.00 plus interest and $150.00 penalty for not refunding the money in a timely manner so that I could take classes elsewhere.
