*** is part of our program through the Ticket to Work Program which is offered through the Social Security Administration for individuals receiving disability benefits. At this time Social Security has not approved any earnings on Mary's case that allow us to provide her with Work Support
Payments. Since *** is self employed we must wait for the IRS to verify Mary's earnings and make them available to Social Security which typically doesn't occur until the fourth quarter of the following year (earnings won't be released by the IRS until the fourth quarter of 2018). Until payments are approve by Social Security we don't have any funds on Mary's ticket to allow us to provide her with any Work Support Payments. She's able to confirm that no payments have been approved by logging into her client portal account through our website, www.aaatakecharge.com. Social Security's system checks their database every hours for new earnings in their system and as soon as earnings populate for *** that show that she has earned at least $1,per month and didn't qualify for disability benefits due to her work earnings in Social Security's system will automatically show payments approved for her. Again, this won't occur until the fourth quarter of when the IRS releases income data to Social Security. *** did send in documentation of work earnings on May 14, and we acknowledged receipt of this documentation on May 15, 2017. On May 19, we emailed *** to let her know that due to her earnings being from self employment we had to wait for the IRS to make her earnings information available to Social Security before they would approve any funds for payment. With regards to what expenses we can or cannot reimburse, there is Guide to Work Related Expenses that *** has access to in her client portal account which explains what we can and cannot reimburse. These reimbursements are based on a new Agreement with Social Security that all Employment Networks were required to agree to in September 2017. In the past Social Security allowed us to reimburse gas but unfortunately, effective September 2017, we are no longer allowed to reimburse this expense. When an individual is self employed, we can reimburse the vehicle payment OR their mileage at cents per mile (the IRS mileage reimbursement amount) but we cannot reimburse both. *** did email to inform us that she's also filed a complaint with a disability advocacy agency along with the Ticket to Work Program and this same response will be provided to both agencies as soon as they contact our office
