Thanks for your phone call on Friday. Attached are emails which should clarify the situation that obtained at the time of their complaint. We...
provided PDF copies of the drawings final drawings [redacted] [redacted]June 30th.From the correspondence dated June 27th the architect was informed of the need for a building plat. The Building Plat is provided by the office of the surveyor of the District of Columbia. Not by a professional surveyor, or engineer. It seems, from correspondence between the architect and expediter, that this request was overlooked, or that the architect did not understand what was being asked of him.His subsequent comments that this should not be done by a third party indicates the latter. A July 4th correspondence requested that we separate the drawing set and send individual sheets as separate PDF oriented landscape.Per correspondence on July 5th the drawings were separated and instructions provided with regards to How to rotate the drawings to landscape orientation. (The use of the word format does not provide an accurate picture of what was requested). The request for drawings to be provided as separate sheets with the stipulation that they be in Landscape orientation is uncommon. ( we upload drawings to project docs on a regular basis, the orientation has never been specified)My design tech provided instructions as to How to rotate a drawing from portrait to landscape orientation. I pointed out that the building plat is not provided by us in correspondence on July 12th.The building plat is normally done by the architect. In conversation with him, he claims that I volunteered to provide that service in our initial site conversation. We do not normally provide that service, we assist when requested. I am attaching my proposal information sheet which was prepared after our initial meeting.I did not record such a commitment in my notes, which would have indicated anything not normally done by us. The reason for my insistence that the expediter order the plat in person was simple, it gets done faster when ordered in person.I believe that the source of confusion arose from the use incorrect terminology in correspondence between the expediter, architect and [redacted]Conveying the impression that I was responsible for a product that was not my responsibility. Once the building plat was obtained from the surveyors office we returned the drawing on the same day. The surveyor’s office guarantees a next day turn around for building plate. If the request is made on a Friday the next business day is Monday. The three day delay mentioned in the complaint involved the weekend. The impression that I was unresponsive is not substantiated by the email trail provided. Andrew A. H
