I was in a hit and run accident the insurance company is failing to help me and have been avoiding all calls im being treated as the victim here All I want is the car fixed and they are failing to help me the main office is her in [redacted] if someone could please help us that would be great their number is [redacted]Desired SettlementI just want the car fixed

I am trying to get my money back after returning my policy.In June 2016, I purchased an auto insurance policy (which cost my around $200)so that I could take the road test for a drivers license (insurance is required by North Carolina law to take the road test). I failed my road test, so I returned my policy (just shortly a week after it was purchased). After cancelling the policy, I asked how and when I would receive my refund. The Agent then told me that I would not receive all my money back. I asked why this was (keep in mind, this was not disclosed to me either verbally or in writing at anytime before purchasing the policy, or during the cancellation process). When I tried to explain this she told me that this was a fee they charged and that they could do this because "all the other companies do it" and if I didn't like it I should file a complaint with the state. A few days ago (mid July 2016) I received a check for $31 which I assume is what they deem to be my refund for my policy. I find this completely unacceptable and would like ALL my money back. I will not hesitate to contact the [redacted], and if necessary I may even hire an attorney if this is not resolved ASAP. I have already reviewed all the paperwork signed at the time of sign-up and cancellation and I found no mention of their "right" to refuse a full refund.Desired SettlementI would like ALL my money back, and a written letter (Postal Mail) to confirm my refund as well as a telephone call.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] PresidentContact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@nationwide.comA policy was written on 6-8-16 for the insured with [redacted] Company. The premium for the six month term was $1006.18 with a down payment of $197.83 and 5 monthly payments of $161.67. Insured came to the office to sign the cancellation request effective X-XX-XX and we submitted it to the company on the same day. [redacted] determined the earned premium and short rate cancellation penalty based on the rules and procedures for a mid-term cancellation set by the NC Rate Bureau - Safe Driver Insurance Plan and refunded the difference to the insured. Our agency is not involved in the cancellation process.Consumer Response Since none of these policies were explained before signing the policy or during the cancellation process. I feel I am within my rights to get my money back. The Insurance Agency needs to make this happen. If they need to reach out to a third party to do so, they can do that. While for the sake of saving time and energy I would prefer to resolve this without the assistance of an attorney, and am willing to give a reasonable amount of time for the appropriate departments to be contacted and for this matter to be resolved, I will not hesitate to reach out for legal assistance if I determine it is necessary.
