Review: Aamco did not come thru when it was time for me to use my credit balance of $126. After using half of the $250 check that I received from an agency for car repairs the owner, [redacted] said that I could use the credit later. I believe that was last October. Unfortunately, I ran into some medical issues & some time passed before I contacted Aamco about using the credit. In April, I called to see when was a good time to bring the car in. I spoke with [redacted] & he said that he "sold the business & was there helping out the new owner". He said "this situation was handled wrong from beginning" without elaborating & took my number & said he would call me back. I never heard from him again. I sent a letter in, I believe June, asking for a refund for the credit. He didn't respond. I called a couple of weeks ago & was told that [redacted] was on vacation.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the credit balance of $126 by money order or check.

Response:

I am the new owner of Aamco Bridgewater and the previous owner no longer works at this shop. I have tried calling [redacted] and have left several messages. I am not sure what happened in the past regarding the refund that was promised to the customer. I have never spoken with [redacted] and the matter was never bought to my attention. I am ready to work with [redacted] and provide her the service for $126.

Review: On Jan 14, 2014 I took my Honda Odyssey Mini -van to AMMCO Bridgewater and ask if they can repair Automatic transmission clutch material breakdown. My car drives normal and has no check engine light on when I drove in AAMCO, all gears shift normal, because I just cleaned both holizental and vertical solenoloid valve filters. Before I clean them, the check engine light was on and show 0730 and 0740 code. Aamco employee [redacted] test drived may car and come back said to me the car drives noormal and asked If someone serviced the car. I told him I did cleaned solenoid valve filter and changed transmission fluid. But I know the clutch material inside transmission has broken down, it will clog the filter again if they are not replaced. The car will have gear shift issue when filter cloged. Owner Mr [redacted] told me to leave my car there, they will check my car and give me an quotation for the repairment of my transmission. On Sat Jan 18, 2014, I went back to AAMCO, manager [redacted] told me they can repair my car in less than 2 weeks time, with $2716. It seems high compairing to average cost for same repair is around $2300~2400. Since they promise a 3 year 50000mile warranty. I agreed. [redacted] ask me to pay, I paid the full amount plus tax $ 2906.13 in credit card. By Jan 25, I check with AAMCO, I am told they replaced all necessary parts in my car, but seems some wire connection issue with transmission they can not resolove. By Jan 31, I asked Owner [redacted] again, he said they were still checking on wire connection for my car. By Sat Feb 1, I went to AAMCO again, [redacted] told me they have not find the solution and they think my car need computer replacement. I told him my car computer is good when I drove in his shop and there was no gear shift issue and no check engine light when I brought my car in his shop. I find my car has check engine light on and can not shift gear, it barely move, a lot worse than before. I ask [redacted] to pay for computer replacement if issue was computer.Desired Settlement: Honda repair guide stated" Honda computer is very easily damaged if someone is not very careful when connect and disconnect computer, e.g. enen if car key left in , it will destroy the computer". When I picked up my car on Feb 14, [redacted] aske me to pay half of computer replacement cost, I disagree, due to I need my car back and no proof for someone careless worked on the car. by the end I paid additional $400. When I am home I find there is no transmission dip stix any more, one cable is not set back in position, one electrode is not fully covered by insulate material, one storage draw can not be fully closed---It all indicated someone is not very carefull when doing work on my car. Careless work damaged my car computer, I asked [redacted] to refund my $400 payment for replaceing computer. Someone in his shop damaged my car computer, they delayed repair my car, AAMCO should pay for it. [redacted] offered 4 free oil change.

They should pay for the damage to my car computer 100%. I want $400 refund.

Response:

I am so sorry that Mr. [redacted] is unhappy with our service…but

his complaint is without merit. He did

bring his car in with the complaint of poor 1 and 2 and 2/3 shift…and several

transmission codes…we determined that the problem was internal and he needed a

transmission. The damage inside the

transmission was extensive. We replaced the following: all clutches, rings/gaskets/filter/torque

converter/valves in valve body/solenoid/pressure switches/ and accumulator

body. Once the work was complete there was still an electrical problem with the

vehicle. At no charge to Mr. [redacted] we

spent several hours (a value of $193) to see where the electrical problem was. We determined that there was intermittent

power coming out of the computer and it would need to be replaced. Now by Mr. [redacted]’s own admission he tried to

fix transmission himself prior to coming to see us due to an intermittent

issue. The computer cost was $896 and another$

150 to reprogram. Obviously, Mr. [redacted] was upset. I offered to split the bill

with him in an effort to make a customer happy. He agreed. When the computer was replaced his electrical

problem disappeared. When he arrived to pick up the car he wanted to

renegotiate the computer replacement again. I finally asked him “what will make you happy?” He told me

he would be satisfied to pay $400. I

agreed and we shook hands and he picked up his car. We also offered him 4 free oil changes to try

and make him happy. At no time did we touch or damage his computer… we reduced

the price for the computer work substantially. He agreed and now he is trying

to ask for more. Also, his trans is

working perfectly now.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Regards,

Thank you for accept my complaint on AAMCO Birdgewater, NJ for damage my Honda Odyssey Computer.

Today is March 24, 2014. Feb is 28 days. I should I have time to reply and get fact straight.

AAMCO checked my car thoroughly before give me the written quotation for repair my car. When I drove my car into Mr [redacted] 's AAMCO shop, computer working perfectly, gears can switch smoothly, the check engine light is not on, although the transmission milfunction code can be detected. They want to change some of the electronic parts, I do not think ther is anything wrong with my car electroniclly, they ( AAMCO‘s manager [redacted]) insist to replace my car 's linear selenoid valve or they will not provide warranty for my car. Finally We agreed on the total repair cost $2906.13. I paid total cost upfront by my [redacted] credit card in full ( $2906.13).

I have specifically talked with Mr [redacted] , this is the final cost to repair my car, there will be no more cost. Mr [redacted] agreed 100%.

After several weeks Mr [redacted] kept delaying to return my car to me. I went to AAMCO and see my car, Mr [redacted] told me everything is ready, car is fixed in perfect running condition, when I asked for car key, he pretended he wanted his technician test the car, he had me waited another 20~ 30 minutes and then told me, there are some issue with the car's electronic signal, they need to check, he need more time. He promised to returned the car to me in one or two days. I went back home empty handed.

A few days pasted, I did not heard anything from AAMCO. Another week pased, I called in the morning, MRMr [redacted] told me he'll have the car ready by lunch time, it was early afternoon, I heard nothing back from Mr [redacted], I went to AAMCO to see myself. Mr [redacted] told me the car is not ready. The car can not be driven properly.

I asked Mr [redacted] to allow me to drive the car, he gave my car key back to me and told me do not go far.

I turn on the engine, the check engine light is on, the car transmission does not shift at all, it was a lot worse than when I took my car in 3 weeks ago. I aksed AAMCO technician what are the computer code for the check engine light, I am told no codes only default 7000.

I asked Mr [redacted] how come my can check enging light is on and can not drive at all? (when I brought the car in, there is not check engine light on, car can drive smoothly, his technician [redacted] drove my car and even ask me who take care my car, my car drives good.) He also told me normal car repair shop will leave the car as is and told customer tough luck. He has no way to pay for the repair of computer since he did not make enough profit to cover the expense. I told Mr [redacted] to have Honda dealer repair the car since no one in AAMCO know how to fix this car. He said his AAMCO knows how to fix the car just need new computer. I told him my car computer is in good working condition when I brought it in. He asked me if a car computer can be damaged easily, I told him I do not know, my car computer was damaged in his AAMCO while repairing transmission. I reminded him we agreed up front the total cost is $2906.13 to fix my car transmission and I have

paid in Full.

After another week, I called again to AAMCO, Mr [redacted] told me my car is ready. I got the my car key and want to test if the car is fixed or not from AAMCO technician, Mr [redacted] rushed to me and insist me to go back With him to his office. He told me he spent $800 for new computer and $200 for program fee. I told him I paid total transmission repair fee $2906.13 in full already. AAMCO damaged the computer, expense related to fix computer is on him, he delayed repair my car, I have one full month no car to use.

We argued for a while since I need my car back after one month, I am forced by Mr [redacted] to pay $400 in additional to $2906.13. I told Mr [redacted] I checked Honda repair buletin online, Honda warns specifically about the computer is very easily damaged if someone is not very carefull when connect or disconnect computer during repair. He told me I should not trust Honda repair bulletin online.

After forced to pay Mr [redacted] additional $400 for computer damage, I was able to drive the car home. When I check my car for transmission fluid level, I can not locate ATF dip stix under hood of my car, it was missing. I also noticed there are cable under hood which was not placed back to original holders, inside car the big drawer under radio can not be fully closed no matter how I adjust. All these indicated someone working on the car are not very careful. I went back to AAMCO, they located my ATF dip stix in their workshop and returned to me. I asked Mr [redacted] to refund my $400. He said he can gave me 4 free oil change instead, I refused free oil change.

AAMCO damaged my car computer, there are labor and parts cost associated with fix it, those cost should be paid in full by WCO, AAMCO should not forced me to pay for their mistake. I demand my $400 refund back to me from AAMCO.

Review: I brought my car here to have the transmission done as well as the rear differential but my insurrance only authorized the payment for the transmisson and said they would not cover the rear differental so they did the trans then we talked abt them doing the rear and he said he would finace that repair so I gave him like four to five checks to be deposited every two weeks and that was for payment I brought the car back several times and told them that it was still having the same noise and problem and when I called and asked if I could bring it in they would say they were to busy and backed up with work or [redacted] wasnt there or there were cars on the lift and couldnt be looked at or that [redacted] was out of town and couldnt be reached this went on over 6 months so one day I was driving down the street and the rear seized up and couldnt move I had to have the car towed to my home at this time I then called aamco and had the car towed there so one day I went there and asked if I could have a print out of all work done on my car and at that time is when I found out that the rear was not done and the front was now after all of that I get a call from someone from there saying that I needed to pay for the rear again aswell as something else and that if I didnt plan on paying in full or a large down payment or I should come get my vehicle I was very upset because I put everything in this vehicle and I have five children who soley depend on me to get aroundDesired Settlement: for my car to be repaired

Response:

This complaint is without merit and the majority of her claims are straight fabrication. [redacted] called us in June 2012 with a complaint that her car was in need of a transmission and a rear differential. The vehicle was at another shop and HER TRANSMISSION AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL WERE ALREADY REMOVED. I spoke to the original shop and he refused to work with her vehicle any further due to a lack of funds. We towed in the vehicle and determined that she did indeed need a transmission. We could not make a determination on rear at this time because the car could not be driven. This Ro # was [redacted]. We rebuilt her transmission and the warranty company paid a portion of her repair and we allowed her to make payments. While she paid this repair off…she did not follow the repayment terms and we were forced to chase our money down to receive payments. We realized her financial position so (at the time) it felt good about helping someone in need. She came back on 7/6/12(while she still owed us money from first job) and was complaining about a noise. We determined that she had a noise out of front diff and possibly rear diff. She still owed us money and we told her until she was paid in full we could not help her. She returned in December of 2012 and we told her the least inexpensive repair was to replace her front differential with a used differential. She agreed and we did the replacement. This ro# was [redacted]. Again…we allowed her to make payments over a 3 month period (against our better judgement due to her payment record). She came back 4 months later in April of 2013 complaining about a noise. It was determined that it was the rear…she did not have the funds to fix her vehicle and we told her we cannot fix her without payment in full. She broke down in December of 2013 and had the vehicle towed here. We gave her a price to replace her rear differential and transfer case. Both parts would be used due to her financial situation. We told her at the time that she had to come up with 70% of the total cost. Her payment record was spotty at best…and we could no longer afford to carry her debt. She told us she would get back to us. In February the shop changed hands…we called her prior to this and asked her to either fix the vehicle or tow it out. She told us she was going to sue us??? For what I still do not know. So the vehicle is still in our lot…I will not fix her car due to her lack of funds and her malicious claims that we were less than truthful about the work performed. Her claims that her rear was fixed is a without merit. I find it hard to believe that she contacts the Revdex.com with false claims and she is upset that we require a large down payment!!!
