Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Thanks for your email. Cars are not my expertise and I did in error say that the replacements were alternators vs distributors (sorry)*** (***, NY) replaced the alternator which was sent by AAmco, ***, CT and the car started and I was able to drive to ***, CT, from ***, NY on 11/31. On 12/1, I broke down on highway (***, CT)...the car just lost all power ...I sat there on this major highway for min and the car did restart after min and I was able to drive to ***, CT from ***, CT. Later that evening while driving home from work, the same total loss of power and no restart happened and again after min the car restared and I was able to drive from ***, CT to ***, CT. On 12/2, while driving from ***, CT to ***, CT after mile the car totally lost power and I was unable to restart the car...I called *** to have the car towed to a *** dealer where I explained to them the history of the car repairs. I also contacted *** and they believe this sounds like another bad distributor. I believe all remanufactured distributors to be defetive and to have resulted in the cars issues. The *** team thinks the same, and by the way. By the way, *** is not my good friend, the store Manager (*** ***), and I went to high school years ago and I would call him more of a contact. The *** dealer has the car now. I need to be compensated for the items I have outlined and there maybe additional exenses which result from the *** charges.Sincerely,*** ***

Complaint Information: On 8/5/14 cust brought car in complaining about intermittent chugging especially uphills. We did experience the chugging. We diagnosed it as a bad distributer, a common problem on these cars and a common cause of the chugging we experienced. We replaced dist . w a reman distributer. The paperwork saying new is an error. 2 weeks later customer returned w intermittent chugging again. We did experience the problem , I immediately informed the cust we must have a defective distributer. I explained to him these are reman assemblies and unfortunately sometimes you get a bad one. At no time did the customer ever experience or complain about a stalling or no start condition. At no time did we ever replace the starter or alternator. At no time did we experience anything that would require spark plugs and wires to be replaced. When we were contacted by [redacted], we were told the car came in not starting. [redacted] ( apparently a good friend of [redacted]) told me they couldn't find the problem but since we had had a problem w the distributer perhaps it was another bad one. I immediately ordered another and shipped it out, asking the customer to please return old one at his convenience. He agreed. I never heard from Mr [redacted] or [redacted] again til now. I have no idea if the distributer fixed the starting problem or not, maybe that's the reason why they changed plugs/wire. I don't know. To summarize, the car never came here with a "no start" condition, we never touched the starter/alternator as written in customer's complaint. We shipped the distributer in good faith to [redacted]. I doubt the distributer solved the problem so that's why they changed plugs/ wires. I don't know. If I can be of any further assistance please let me know. thank you, [redacted] owner/operator Aamco [redacted]
