I purchased a Groupon for brake service. Here is the Groupon Deal
$49 for front- or rear-brake service (up to a $391 value)
•Brake pads (up to $90 value)
•Rotor resurface (up to $64 value)
•Labor (up to $237 value)
I set an appointment to get the work done which they said I would need to leave my car there all day long. Before taking my car in I had both the Toyota dealership and Les Schwab look at my brakes and both confirmed that the front pads were in good shape and the back pads were getting thin, 3mm, and would advise having them replaced soon. So, I new that was all that was needed done and that my Groupon should cover the work in full. So, after dropping my car off on 9/25/15 at 8:30am a few hours later I get a call and the lady says that the tech found that my front brakes are good but that my back brakes had no pad and I was metal on metal. She said this damaged the rotors by scoring them and that they could not be resurfaced because of this and I would have to replace them. She also said that the calipers were sticking and that they would need replaced as well if they could not get them unstuck. Of course all these extra parts and labor are not covered on the Groupon so I would have to pay over $400 additional dollars for the work to be done. I said they were lying and that I don't believe them as the brakes were just inspected at both the Toyota dealership and Les Schwab. I told them not to touch the car and I would not pay them a penny and will be down to pick it up and take it back to Les Schwab. After getting another ride down there I got the car and took it to Les Schwab and had the pads replaced and rotors were resurfaced and pads still had 2mm left on them and were not metal on metal. The calipers were fine and not sticking either the tech said everything was in great shape and just needed to have pads replaced and rotors turned as expected. I paid with tax $194 for this work. I called Groupon and complained and they refunded my money in Groupon bucks. I was unable to leave a feedback on the Groupon site which is unfortunate as I don't wish any others to have to go through this experience. This companies Yelp reviews indicate this is common practice at this location and they are fraudulently telling customers they need additional work done when they don't to get more money from their customers.
