This Explanation of AAmco is totally FalseNo one at AAMCO provided me with any written estimate for work of catalytic converter replacement ,nor did anyone verbally give me an estimate The facts and times are clear evidence that this is a blatant attempt to cover up the negligence of AAMCO I always talked to either *** , *** or *** individually about this problem never collectively this indicates that they were never on the same page at any point of this serviceFurthermore Aamco did know what was wrong with my truck that why they wasted so much time, it was only after having my truck at there shop from 08/22/14-08/27/Then when Mr *** agreed to fix my trunk if I bought needed part he would install them per are agreement, then after all this waste of time or not being sure that I even needed a convertor at this point he chose to break our agreement it was only then that he decided to refund my for parts I didn't need ,at that point I told him that I was very dissatisfied and that I don't trust their recommendation so I would be taking the vehicle to Jimmy Johnson's to get a diagnosis before I pur*** parts I don't need as I had done with Amco previous.l provided AAmco with all documents from Jimmie Johnson and from repair shop that installed my Catalytic Converter and the passed smog which would also indiciate no intake exhaust leak because that would've also throw a different codeBased on my documents, witness, evidence and time dates Aacmo has failed In their promise to deliver the service and quality that they claim to represent

As per our records, Mr.*** came
in with a Check Engine Light on the vehicle in questionFound during the
computer scan, P0420- Catalytic Converter efficiency P0128- Coolant Thermostat,
Monitoring oxygen sensors on the scanner it was found the downstream oxygen
sensor on Bank values
would change slightlyCustomers concern is due to a “Lazy
Oxygen Sensor” that was near the end of its useful life and was recommended to
be replaced
Mr*** informed Mr*** ***
that the code had been present before and that he had it erased, however the
code was present during the computer scanCode did not return upon completion of
its monitorMr*** was advised to return for further diagnosticsMr***
brought back the vehicle for further diagnosticsOur technicians found he
needed to replace Catalytic ConvertersUpon finding the best rate we could give,
our shop quoted to fix it at $Following Mr***’s fail to authorize this
amount, he began to search elsewhere
Mr*** *** and I explained
the difference between a universal and a direct fit OEM catalytic converterAt
that point he wanted to pur*** his own universal catalytic converter from
NAPA Auto Parts;
however I hesitated due that fact that it is not our shops standard procedure
to allow customers to pur*** their own partsI agreed to install rear-transmission
seal for free, but charge labor for the catalytic converter, at which point Mr
*** pur***d the part from NAPA Auto Parts for $I received the universal
catalytic converter from Mr*** and told him that I would install it for the
cost of $In addition, I would credit his $towards the repair
order, leaving him a balance of $Mr *** agreed to pay and have
our shop install it for himWe informed Mr*** that because the part was
not ours, we would not be able to guarantee it
Afterward, I called local muffler shops around
the area and consulted about this universal catalytic converterI was told by
fixing it, we could be possibility damage his motorKnowing that, I didn’t want
to be responsible for damaging his motorAt that point, I called him the next
morning and advised him about my findingsI refunded him the full amountIn
addition, I gave him a new Osensor that I installed in his vehicle at no cost
to him
Mr*** decided to take his
vehicle to Jimmy Johnson Chevy dealership due that fact he didn’t believe our diagnostic
He elected to pay $out of his own pocket for a second opinion*** ***,
the service writer for Jimmy Johnson, advised Mr*** about his vehicle
diagnosesMr*** was advised that he has a manifold leaking fluid causing
his catalytic converter to be damagedMr*** advised Mr*** to fix his
manifold leak and then fix this catalytic converter*** also gave Mr***
an estimate to fix his manifold leak around $and to fix his catalytic
converter would be around $Mr*** said *** elected not to get it
repaired at Jimmy Johnson Chevy

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
First, I would like to state for the record again, AAMCO failed to resolve my check engine light problem as promised. Secondly, AAMCO replaced an o2 sensor I didnt need, this was evident by the fact that my check engine light was still on showing the same code P0420 I had originally had before they worked on it. Thirdly, AAMCO had my 04 silverado truck from 08/18/14 to 08/26/14 and never gave me a written diaqnosis or  estimate for the cause of code nor price breakdown (labor cost & parts cost) to repair.
AAMCO also promised to replace rear transmission seal which after all this time had not been done either. Of course AAMCO would refuned the money they charged me for fixing my 02 sensor that didnt need to be changed anyway which check I have not cash pending further actions. Because of all the time they wasted and the mistakes and empty promises maded, I went to AAMCO to get my truck on 08/26/14 after numerous phone calls which Phone records show. Mr [redacted] the Owner-Operator made an verbal argeement with me as he's already stated, to install my Catalytic Convertor which I pur[redacted]d from NAPA AUTO PARTS and delivered to his shop on 08/26/14 in which he promised to install personally. As a Automotive Professional as he claims to be I expect and demand Compensation for his willful failure to live up to our argeement.
Compensation is as follows; 2 days of loss wages $430.00, reimbursement for Emission diagnostics $129.00 and $80.00 I paid to have New Catalytic Converter install at a Accredited Auto shop.
Total Settlement amount  $639.00
Regards,
[redacted]

How can this company try and get away with charging $2486 for a $868 part? 300% markup on parts? How can this company use "banks" that charge 198% interest rates and not tell customers until after the paperwork is signed? [redacted] the "corporate" person who basically screwed us. aren't there regulations in place to protect consumers against this? He had us over a barrel and knew it and then consciously exploited it.

Review: On 08/15/14 I brought my 04 Chevy Silverado 4.3 into AAMCO for engine light problem which showed a P0420 code Catalytic Converter not working, AAMCO diagnose this code to be a faulty 02 sensor and offered to repair it for $170.02. On 08/18/14 the engine light came back on showing same P0420 code, I called AAMCO and explained this Mr. [redacted] told me to bring it back and he would look at it. Upon arriving to the shop Mr. [redacted] indiciated do I want them to keep throwing parts at it, I said no but wanted problem fixed. Mr. [redacted] said change thremostat and reset Monitors to see if light cames back on. On 08/20/14 engine light came back on so I called AAMCO again and Mr.[redacted] said didnt we change 02 sensor already I said yes, he told me to bring it in again and he would take a look at it, upon the Techicans diagnoses he said I needed and 02 sensor the same one they replace already, I said you guys replace it already( a dispute brokeout) and I was given Owners card and told if he wants to give you your money back he can. 08/21/14 wrote correspondence to [redacted],Owner explaining issue,he called me and said he would take care of me on 08/22/14 Me and my [redacted] arrived at AAMCO and met with Service Manager [redacted], he assured me that he was sorry for the treatment and that he would hepl me, and would also free of charge do a Diagnostic and repair my rear transmission seal and credit my money because part replaced didnt fix problem. AAMCO had my truck until 08/27/14 never gave me and estimate for engine light problem, never repair rear transmission seal and never gave me and document indiciating what the problem was with my truck. or price to fix it. On 08/27/14 I talked to [redacted] and he told me that if I buy Catalytic Converter he would install it for $215.00 minus $170.02 already paid for unneeded parts leaving me a balance of $45.00 to paid we both agreed and I left my truck. On 08/28/14 Mr. [redacted] called me and said I"m writing you a check for $170.00 I"m to busyDesired Settlement: To be compensated for 2 days of loss wages, non use of truck. $430.00

To be compensated for engine diagnostic paid for at Jimmie Johnson on 08/28/14 after leaving AAMCO $129.00

To have rear transmission seal repaired as promise. free of charge.
