Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:AAMCO's database is incorrect and they have falsified information as I never consented to the repair I talked to the manager the day of the repair about this issue and since the repairs had already been conducted, I had to payMy payment does not indicate that I consented to the repairs, it only indicates that I made a payment in order to get my car backI called customer service about this as well and never received a call backI tried to resolve this issue three times via telephone call to the store and customer service with the same result: the repairs were completed and I paid, therefore there was nothing to disputeAgain, I only paid to get my car back and for no other reason.Regards,

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:Their account is not correctWhat really happened
was the following:On April 3, 2017, I called AAMCO because I was having trouble with my transmissionThey sent a tow to pick up my vehicle from my residence to their shopWhen they first inspected my car, I was told it needed a new transmission (quoted a little over 1800)I told them I didn't have that money so they suggested financingAll that week I was playing phone tag with them, trying to find out if my financing had been approvedAt this point I was told that they just had to "run the financing approval", leading me to believe that it was guaranteedHowever, I was still worried that it would be declined so I told them time and time again, to not do work on the car until the financing was approvedAt that point I was told they were "behind on other repairs".By now, my car had sat at their shop for an entire week and they would never call me with an updateI had to constantly call them, even though they kept saying they'd call me.Later on, Monday the 10th of April, I was told that in order to get a proper quote for financing, they had to thoroughly inspect my vehicleTo which I concededLater on that same day a man by the name of Nick called me and gave me a breakdown of repairsThe cost then shot up to over $3,AT that point I specifically told him to NOT do the repairs unless I was approved for financing because I couldn't pay for it otherwiseI repeated this several times throughout the conversationNick then told me that Jason would call me back in minutes to get my information to run the financingJason never called meYesterday, April 11th, I called Jason and asked about doing the financing, and he did it at that pointLater on that day he called me to tell me that I had gotten rejected and asked if I had a co-signerI told Jason, "I will call you back first thing tomorrow morning with my final answer because I'll have to see if I can or cannot get a cosigner."Later that night, knowing that I would not be able to get a cosigner, I made arrangements to junk the vehicleThis morning, April 12th, I called AAMCO to find out how much I would have to pay for the tow and the inspection work and to inform them that I was going to junk the car. That's when Jason told me THEY DID the repairs to my car and are now trying to stick me for over $3,in repair fees. The mechanic, Nick, claims that he has me on a recording saying that he COULD do the work on the carThis is what Jason claims he saidSo, I told Jason, "Well, if that is true, THE GET THE RECORDING AND PLAY IT! Then you'll really hear what I said SEVERAL TIMES during the conversation, which was that I needed the financing."I did not authorize them to do any repairs on my vehicle verbally or in writing, because (1) there was no guarantee I would get financing (2) I never even made it to their store as I did not have a way to get there. It is very unethical what they have done and I should not be held liable for work I DID NOT authorize; verbally OR writtenThere's nothing which has my signature or anything like that, nothing that shows that I ever agreed to anything other than them diagnosing the car and trying to get my financing approved

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
Dear***, thank you for getting in touch with Aamco regarding my complaint. Their offer to diagnose and work on my car for a third time is not acceptable to me. Aamco’s suggestion that the shudder may be due to tires, engine mounts, etcis ridiculous. I’ve owned this car for over years, and it never shuddered until Aamco replaced the clutch. It is clear to me that they did an improper job, and now they want more of my time and likely money
The people I’ve dealt with at Aamco have shown a lack of competence, professionalism, and honesty For instance, their response states that “the time required to perform the job did not allow for it to be performed on a Saturday”. If that was true, why did their *** give
me two appointments on Saturdays? The first time I heard anything about Saturday not being a good day was from Aamco’s national customer service manager Additionally, my complaint was not “clutch feel”, as mentioned in their response. It is that my car shakes and shudders when releasing the clutch at slow speed, and never did so before Aamco touched my car
Their offer requires that I a.) bring the car to them for however long they deem necessary (they’ve already had it twice, for days, for what they said was a one day job) b.)rely on them to properly diagnose and fix the problem which they have failed to do so far and c.) trust them to honestly tell me what is wrong and not make up a reason and charge me for a cause Given all my previous interactions with them, my car will likely be in their shop for many days, not get repaired properly, and I’ll get stuck with additional charges for parts that they deem to be outside of the warranty. I have no faith in their abilities or ethics, and as such don’t want to give them an opportunity to make this situation even worse
Since I am rejecting their offer, what is my next step? Is there any forum for mediation or is legal action my sole course at this time?
Thanks for your help,

Shop broke additional components Price applied to customer
I turned my car into this shop on the *** Original brake was a clutch stopped working due to slave cylinder The original price for the part is $*** Since turning in the car more has been added to include;

master cylinder
The clutch and flywheel are understandable due to the miles on the vehicle 130K+ The master cylinder had no issues, but was said to have broken after the slave cylinder was replaced The originating price was $*** max and it has climbed to $*** I am afraid that the company is aware that I am without a vehicle for the week and need it returned quickly they are using the situation to their advantage

Many components in a vehicle other than the clutch can cause a
shudder, chatter or vibration during clutch engagementThese possibilities
range from the engine, engine mounts, transmission or drive shaft bearings,
drive shaft, differential, suspension and tiresWorn mounts, u-joints, rear ends
and springs can exaggerate this effectOften, what seems like clutch chatter is really a
worn out universal joint or a defective engine mountSince the original
clutch had failed due to the throw out bearing blew apart and the poor condition
of the original clutch, the cause of the shudder symptoms may have been masked
The original replacement
clutch installed was the correct clutch for the vehicle and met or exceeded the
OEM specifications for the vehicleThe new clutch, pressure plate and
throw-out bearing were replaced and the flywheel was professionally resurfaced. No shudder was detected during the test drive
after the new clutch was installed
A few days later, the
customer complained about the clutch feel and a shudder at low speedsCustomer
was told to allow for clutch breand if he still had the shudder, it may
just need a readjustment and to bring it back in and AAMCO would perform the
adjustment at no charge
***NOTE*** To
properly seat a clutch and prolong it life, most clutch manufacturers recommend
a breperiod of up to miles of city type driving to allow for
the friction material to properly match to the
flywheel and pressure plateNo aggressive drivingNo hole shots or
drag launchesNo speed shifting
When the customer returned with the vehicle it was
determined that the clutch was in adjustment and that due to the high
performance of the vehicle and the customer’s complaint about the clutch feel,
a stronger clutch may be neededThe customer was informed that AAMCO would
install the stronger clutch under warranty and at no additional cost. The stronger clutch was ordered and AAMCO
worked with the customer on scheduling issuesThe customer was requesting that
all of the work be performed on a Saturday but unfortunately, the time required
to perform the job did not allow for it to be performed on a Saturday and it
would need to be performed over a weekday
The customer dropped the vehicle off on to have the stronger
clutch installed on Thursday night, July 31stThe new clutch,
pressure plate and throw-out bearing were replaced on Friday and the flywheel
was sent out to be professionally resurfacedThe flywheel was ready on Monday
morning and the clutch was reinstalled in the vehicle and test drivenUnfortunately,
during the test drive, the replacement clutch did not sound rightIt was
suspected that it was a defective clutch from the vendorA new replacement
clutch was immediately ordered and installed in the vehicle. The vehicle was test driven and the clutch
performed great and no shudder was noticed.
A few days later, the customer complained again about a
shudder at low speedsThe customer was informed that the previous clutch repair
is under warranty, to bring to vehicle in so we could experience the issue, AAMCO
would fix any issue related with work that was performed and that AAMCO would
work with him to address any issue that could cause the shudder that were not
related to the original repair
The clutch manufacturer was notified about the issue and they
stated that there are any number of issues that are not related to the clutch
that can cause a shudder when engaging the clutchA proper diagnosis needs to
be performedSince the clutch has been replaced and the flywheel professionally
turned twice, the shudder at low speed could be related to one of the other
issues listed above
Under the
terms of the warranty, the customer will need to return the vehicle to the
AAMCO, on *** *** *** so that further diagnostics could be performed to
determine the cause of the low speed shudderIf the cause of the shudder is related
to parts or work performed in the clutch replacement, it will be repaired under
warrantyIf it is determined that the issue is not related to the original
repair, AAMCO would work with the customer to address any issue that could
cause the shudder If the customer is
not comfortable with the work performed at the AAMCO located on *** *** ***, arrangements can be made for the customer to take the vehicle to one of
the other AAMCO’s in the Greater Richmond area

I do not feel comfortable with the request if you take a car apart that is the is years old plus miles there will probably be other issues which is causing the leak but I will show you or your mechanic the parts that are bad at the time of repair

In response to customer complaint #[redacted] where [redacted] is requesting a refund for the difference she paid for the lifetime warranty and the 12 month warranty. Additionally, a request or a refund of the power steering repair,
On our repair order number [redacted] (attached) [redacted] approved the upgraded t warranty and the power steering repair. After installation of the power steering pump, it was found that the rack and pinion (steering gear) was defective. [redacted] could not afford the additional repair and had to decline the addition work.
On a subsequent visit, [redacted] returned for the power steering leak. Our inspection found the pump leaking due to excessive load on the pump caused by the defective steering gear. The pump was replaced under warranty at no charge but the steering gear was causing an excessive load on the pump.
A refund for the entire power steering repair was made and this complaint is now considered settled. ??

Mr. [redacted] came in to AAMCO of San Marcos, Texas with a warranty transmission issue on...

2 Feb 2017 and took the vehicle home after our free multi point inspection. no time was Mr. [redacted] without his vehicle for 8 weeks. Mr. [redacted] returned the vehicle to AAMCO on 22 Feb and AAMCO returned the vehicle to him on 24 Feb with a completely different transmission. Keep in mind the transmission with the failures was installed in Georgia.Mr. [redacted] does commercial towing and overloads the recommended towing limit of his vehicle. This in effect voids his warranty per the signed agreement on the opposite side of the customer's invoice/receipt. Mr. [redacted] transmission issues were created by carelessness and failure to follow recommended weight towing limits.AMCO San Marcos, Texas completely replaced his transmission at no charge even though his warranty is void.AAMCO San Marcos has gone above and beyond to satisfy the customer's requests. Respectfully,[redacted]Chief Executive OfficerAAMCO San Marcos, Texas

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: This is a completely fabricated story of overloading the vehicles capacity. The vehicle is never overloaded or abused which is clear by the condition. It can also be verified by law enfoecement records that show in 10 years of operating this vehicle on US highways, it has never once been cited for overweight violations and we are required to go through weight and safety I spections daily. Also misleading that the vehicle has been able to be used just because it was in my possession. With the trouble of the faulty transmission I was advised not to do any towing with it until the warranty issues were resolved through corporate. Therefore as previously stated, I have lost wages for more than 8 weeks now. As far as warranty, all 3 AAMCO shops were well advised that this is the type of work the vehicle is used for, and the vehicle is clearly identified with legal name and DOT #'s and never once mentioned that it would void any warranty. If that had ever been an issue, I would not have had the repairs done at theIr facility to begin with. Now during the most recent repairs, the flywheel was installed improperly and came apart in less than 200 miles and I'm concerned it may have created damage to the starter, cranks haft and other components. This is a typical example of corporate customer abuse and fabricating facts to avoid their responsibility to customers. This is clearly a "bait and switch" by a national corporation to offer and sell me repairs with full warranty and thenot when called upon for warranty repairs, making up any excuse possible to avoid the repairs.  I do not want to deal with this for future repairs because this will continue to be the case of the "blame game" therefore I would recommend a full refund giving me the opportunity to obtain services from a reputable company.

We have reviewed the above mentioned complaint and have resolved the problem with the customer.  At no charge to the customer, we replaced the electronic throttle body and towed the vehicle to Mossy Nissan for electronic programming.  The vehicle was then rechecked and found to be...

operating according to manufacturers specifications.  Mr. [redacted] was informed and he picked up the vehicle on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.  He has not contacted us since delivery and the vehicle is operating normally.  Kindly close this complaint as satisfied.

Dear [redacted],   We have review our data base and the case file for Mr. [redacted].  Our findings is that all work that was done on Mr. [redacted] vehicle was with his consent.  We are required by AAMCO policy to obtain authorization prior to work been conducted....

  Thank you.   [redacted]

I have the original contract in the truck ,which is in the transmission shop now for 5 weeks and the bank statement with the purchase at their business which I can supply when needed but I do have the original invoice no. [redacted] for the 2006 toyota tundra which I have a copy of and which I can...

show but I don't know how to send it by computer. it took 2 days to rebuild the transmission and get it back to me, delivered 12-20-14 and picked up 12-22-14 and now 5 weeks later they can't give me a delivery date or reason for delay, that's unacceptable.

Regards,
[redacted] Spoke
to [redacted] of the business. He stated that the car needed a new
transmission and could not just be rebuilt due to the problems it was
having. Having to get a new transmission would have been much more
expensive for the customer, but they agreed to only charge them the
price of the rebuild. They brought in a third party company to help
finance the rest of the balance. This company requires checks in order
to pay for the balance. The customer did not have the right types of
checks at first and then when the right type of checks was presented
they were rejected. The business tried to find the customer additional
financing but it did not work so the business allowed the customer to
keep the car on their lot, they did not charge them storage fees or
interest fees, and to pay on the car until the balance was paid. The
business is willing to let them pay for the car over three months and
once the car is paid for the car will be released. However, due to
liabilities the car cannot be released until it is fully paid for in
case something happen to the vehicle. [redacted] said that the customer
can call him to discuss this issue and to find a solution to the problem
that works for both parties.
REPLY TO OFFER: I understand that they did the transmission and they had no choice but to keep the price the same simply because they'd already given us that price before the work was done. As far as the check that they speak of, the company said to just bring "a check' , there was no way for us to determine that there needed to be a certain check number. We wrote a starter check and he ran it the decided to tell us that they couldn't accept a starter check, that's when we ordered checks from the bank at [redacted]'s request. When those checks came in, about 4 days later, we went back in and he did the same thing with that check. That's when [redacted] told us that the machine was "broke" because it wouldn't accept the check, never once did [redacted] say this meant a denial, and I explained that to him when I called him on Jan 22, 2014 at their request from their reply. The conversation put us back at square 1. No one ever said this was something that had to be approved.  The reply from the company is the same offer they gave me before I got the Revdex.com involved. Remind you, there were not to be any storage fees to began with according to [redacted] otherwise I would have taken it when I asked about fees, therefore, I don't know why it's an issue all of a sudden.  overall the problem is that Aamco failed to mention that a" third party" had to be involved to deliver the payment arrangement and agreement we made prior to fixing the car. Originally, the business said to bring in 10%, which we did, set up payments to be paid over a 3 month period and we can take the car. The take the car part of the agreement changed based on an error by Aamco "assuming" that "cross check" would allow the arrangement unbeknown to us. ,That's would be like buying a car , agreeing to pay for it ,  then trying to finance it, doesn't go in that order. Therefore, they have put us in a bind by agreeing to something that they couldn't deliver.

I am rejecting this response because:They said they would be able to tell me what was wrong with my vehicle and did not. They only gave me a lot of maybe(s) which are the same ones I had got off of the internet. I feel my $39.95 was not well spent because I am a dissatisfied customer. He should not have told be they would diagnose it. So I was lied to and misguided. I just want a refund because I did not get the service I requested and was informed about. The shop is asking for more money from me which is not right. It seems as if the shop only cares about making money instead of customer satisfaction. I do not want to have my transmission removed from them because I am a dissatisfied with them.

[redacted]'s 2004 Freestar was towed into our center on 12/6/2016 with the complaint of no reverse.  After performing diagnostics it was determined to be an internal transmission problem.  [redacted] had an extended warranty and they chose to send us a remanufactured transmission that we...

installed.  Our repair order totaled $991.23 and the extended warranty company paid for $745.50 of that repair.  [redacted]'s responsibility was $245.73.  The vehicle was picked up on 12/19/2016.  The vehicle was towed to us on 1/3/2017 with the complaint of "just stopped running".  It had a code of P14270 Engine RPM limit reached.  We cleared the code and the van drove fine.  We told [redacted] at that time that she may have a computer issue.  There was no charge to [redacted].  The vehicle was towed to us on 1/12/2017 with the complaint that the car won't start.  We tested the battery and it failed the test.  We replaced the battery.  We also found water intrusion in the PCM (computer) wiring connectors.  We cleaned that out, cleared the codes and the van drove fine.  [redacted] was charged $210 for the battery and 1 hour of repairing the wiring at the computer.  Today [redacted] called and said the vehicle would turn over but not stay running and had the van towed in to us.  Right now it has a code of P0340 for the camshaft positioning sensor.  We are in the process of doing the diagnostics but again every time the van has returned to us, it is for something completely different from the problem with the transmission.  This van has 118750 miles on it and things will go wrong.  Once we find out for sure what the problem is this time, we will let [redacted] know and I will update the Revdex.com.

Please be advised that I do NOT own AAMCO Transmission on Princeton Ave, Lawrenceville, NJ with effect from June 2010. Please remove my info from your record and direct the issue to the appropriate person. Kausar B[redacted]
