Trans-fer case cost from Mazda $5431.00 . That is a crazy number so our Manager [redacted] call our vendor for a price and availability on LKQ ( like kind quality ) has stated on invoice # [redacted] that is signed by Mrs [redacted]. As it turns out Mrs [redacted] is correct a transfer case from Mazda is $731.00. We adjusted her invoice to $868.02 including NJ sales Tax. We are willing to give MR & Mrs [redacted] 5 days to make payment buy US post office money order before we go to the Jersey City Police and press charges against theft of services by deception.

Review: Aamco Total Car Care made false representations and engaged in deceptive acts concerning the repair of our vehicle, a Mazda CX-9. We dealt primarily with [redacted] (AAMCO employee) and [redacted], the owner of the shop.

We asked AAMCO to find the source of the grinding like sound coming from underneath the center of our vehicle. After the diagnostic test, AAMCO informed us that the grinding sound was caused by a broken transfer case assembly and that this unit has to be replaced and that they would have to order the part. We were also informed that we have mismatched tires which caused the transfer case assembly to break. AAMCO suggested to replace two of our tires so that all four tires matched. AAMCO gave us an estimate of $1,900 for the repair including the part but not the tires.

After the repair, we picked up our car and after driving it on the freeway, we discovered that the same problem still exists. We subsequently took it to the Mazda dealer who told us that the cause of the problem had nothing to do with the transfer case assembly. The cupping in the front tires was causing most of the grinding noise and the the front left wheel bearing was adding to the noise. The dealer also discovered incorrect installation made by AAMCO and told us that they checked our tires, and they were not mismatched.

AAMCO's fee was $1,360 for a used transfer case assembly, the dealer's price for a brand new transfer case assembly was $712.99. When I told [redacted] about the price difference, he told me that he made a mistake when he looked up the price in the database and offered to revise the bill to $761.23 (total) charging only $300 for the part. AAMCO also replaced our transfer case assembly without telling us that they were replacing it with a used part.Desired Settlement: Bill Adjustment.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:The deceptions in this case were made by Aamco. My car was voluntarily released to me. Mr. [redacted] gave me a receipt and I left their repair shop with both parties satisfied that I paid the bill. No theft occurred here. The problem with my car was not repaired. I took the car to the Mazda dealer who has been servicing my car for years. The dealer told me that Aamco did work on the car that was not needed, and performed an incorrect installation. I paid the Mazda dealer $119 to correct Aamco's incorrect installation. In addition, since Aamco never repaired the problem, I still have to get the same problem fixed. The evaluation from the Mazda dealer and the $119 charge was written up in an invoice and that invoice was emailed to Mr. [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] acknowledged receipt of the invoice. I tried several times to explain the situation to Mr. [redacted] and each time, he had been unprofessional, screaming at me and hanged up the phone. As I previously offered to Mr. [redacted] and Mr. [redacted], I would pay $300 for the part, 50% of labor of $445.28 which comes to $222.64, $15.95 for the fluid, to a total of $538.59 plus 7% tax of $37.70 which comes out to a total of $576.29. As soon as Mr. [redacted] emails the adjusted invoice showing this amount to me, detailing the charge,s I will gladly provide my credit card number. The adjusted invoice should state that the previous invoice #152753 is void and that the adjusted invoice replaced the previous invoice. As I previously stated to Mr. [redacted], I'm trying to resolve this matter amicably.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:It is unfortunate that Mr. [redacted] failed to see that our counter offer is fair despite the misrepresentations made by Aamco.
