his vehicle so we can diagnose his a/c issue.  Mr. [redacted] brought his vehicle in for  a/c diagnosis in which we found his a/c compressor "locked" and not working due to internal failure. We also found his vehicles a/c condenser damaged and leaking from the lower corner of the part. His vehicle has signs of recent auto body repairs done  as we mentioned this to him when calling about estimate to do repairs. We do not give an estimate over the phone before we looked at the car. We do not know how Mr. [redacted] came up with $400 repair before we knew what the problem was, that is an incorrect statement from Mr. [redacted].We explained to Mr. [redacted]  that his a/c system was in need of replacement (A/c compressor, receiver drier, expansion block, condenser and fittings/caps) due to contamination brought from the a/c compressor internal failure. We also recommended that the entire a/c system be re-charged.  When vehicle repairs were finished (6/21/17) I offered Mr. [redacted] if he wanted his old parts back and explained to him the failures we physically found on the condenser and compressor; he acknowledged our findings and took his vehicle home. He did not want his old parts and we still have them here at our shop.Mr. [redacted] called and stated that his vehicle a/c was not working, I asked him when he could bring vehicle for us to advise and check why a/c system was not working. He brought vehicle on 6/26/17 stating a/c not working but when we diagnosed, it was working. we further checked the a/c head unit (located on the dashboard) which controls the a/c operation and found it has an internal electrical failure (short) resulting in intermediate failure of a/c operation. I discussed with Mr. [redacted] our findings and he stated that he would bring us the control panel part needed to fix his issue. I explained as a courtesy we would install the part for him for free but he never called or brought the part in to us to install. About two weeks later Mr. [redacted]  called and stated that he wanted a new part. I explained that we have to order the part from dealer and we would still install it for him at no charge as a courtesy to him. He agreed to price of part and stated to call him when part arrives.Part arrived 3 weeks latter due to back order from manufacturer. I called Mr. [redacted] to inform him that we can set appointment to install the part and gain, he would pay for part and we would install for him at no charge, He stated that he shouldn't have to since this was the original problem from the beginning.  I explained to him again and reminded him what we discussed originally and showed him in person the findings of his parts that failed in his a/c system. I invited him to have them tested and checked from an outside source to confirm our findings as to why his a/c system was not working. He said no that he wanted to discuss further with owner on getting this part replaced at no charge.The part in question failed outside of services and repairs we performed on vehicle.  He did not state that a/c system was not working when he took vehicle home the first time nor called right away to explain what had happened. We offered as a courtesy to help cover labor costs to replace head unit but never offered to pay or supply part for free.  +
