Aamco Transmissions (Queens Blvd.) Reviews (2)

Review: End of June. completed service that cost about $2,700 + and was informed that I had more than 5 computer codes in my van regarding transimission, that was never shown to me. I was quoted a labor cost of about $1200 and no parts included, then was totaled for $2,000 for service. Then day of schedule pick up was informed of additional services and costs. Costing more than $2,500 that I have documentation of if needed. I was informed, I will no longer have issues with my van transmission and all the proper parts replaced/rebuilt and I have 1 year warranty on the services provided. Then after the van returned I noticed problems with my steering and front end that was never a problem before taking to Aamco. I have documentation of brakes already being serviced recently and the car checked. I went back to Aamco first week of July and they stated No transmission problems and the jerking/vibrations of the van has nothing to do with the transimission and will cost addtiaional funds for the other services they were trying to sell me. They are just trying to make more money because they know I already spent an arm and a leg. I decided today to quote services with a different mechanic as per what Aamco stated was wrong and the other mechanic evaulation says transimssion is a major issue, yet aamco said and has on invoice document tranmission has no issue and just the other services will need to be done and charged for.Desired Settlement: I have already spent over $2500. I would either like for my van to be fixed free of charge or I would like for at least 50% of a refund of the money I have already paid.

Response:

I contacted [redacted] and review the findinds and repairs on his mini van and explained that the repair he came in for was a transmission not moving. We repaired the transmission and that is infact functioning correctly.

When we originally scaned the car we found numerous codes some doing with the transmission, some dealing with the egr system and one for computer internal failure. It is our policy when this happens to correct the movement problem and clear all codes and road test the vehicle, which is the proper way to handle this. You must do the repair and clear codes to see which ones were caused by somethiing that was corrected by the repair. In this case one code returned and that was for the egr. When customer returned we scaned the vehicle again and it had a code for the egr and the computer failure. After we discussed this and I appoligized to him for any communication problem , we agreed that he would bring the car in when it was convient and that I would be glad to assist hiim with what else needed to be done on his car. We appreciate his business and will do all we can to help him out.

[Your Answer Here]

To Whom this may concern,

I am rejecting this solution because I would like for all details of the promised conversation to be noted, so I will not have further complaints regarding the miss-communication that has already been received by Aamco.

As per my phone converstaion with [redacted], he will review the mini-van again. He also stated no labor costs will apply to me. I would be responsible to purchase parts.

Please review.

Thank you,

Response:

[redacted] and I meeet in person and to confirm to you again as I said in advance this is what I would do. I will install the computer and or Trans Controller under our good will policy thus no labor charge will be charged. I ALWAYS keep my word, there is no miscommunications that is what I told you and also told him. We ordered a used transmission controller and will install it in the van at no charge if there needs to be future repairs on the powertrain control system all parts would be installed at no labor charge. He already purchased the egr parts and I told him I would also install them for him at no labor charge. We also discuss the balance of repairs necessary on the van and we would be happy to work with him on these repairs. On all other repairs necessary there of course will I personally work with him on the pricing for the front end repairs and any other repairs needed on his vehicle. I look forward to a long and happy relationship with him.

PS if there are any other concerns please let me know as I want this to be resolved in the best possible way for Him and Us as well.

Review: On Saturday February [redacted], 2014 I took my Acura MDX 2004 to AAMCO located on [redacted]. The car was turning on but putting the car on Drive gear or reverse had little torque power- check engine light on. The shop ran a diagnostic check and recommended a whole transmission reconditioned with an exchanged rebuilt torque converter. They recommended to change also the linear Solenoid.

I also asked for them to do a timing belt and water pump change because the car was due for this service because of the years and mileage.

I received my car on 3-**-2014 and paid a total of $4,699.52.

I was told that the gear ss would feel harder in the beginning because of all the new parts, and was not told when this would stop, but was told to take the car in after 2 weeks for a drive check.

The next day I found that the car was leaking transmission fluid leaving big spots in my drive way. My wife took the car in Monday 3/**/14- was told that a screw was not tight and needed tightening.

Tuesday 3/**the car would not turn on properly we took the car in for inspection.

I was told by the [redacted]- that it was a timing belt issue- fractions off during assembly. The timing belt was readjusted. I had the car back the next day 3/**.

Friday 3/**the D5 light started blinking- checked manual- transmission issue

I was told after the diagnostic by [redacted] that it was a 4th gear pressure switch.

I was charged a total of $154.96 to replace it.

Saturday 3/**I took the car in for a drive check. I expressed my concerns that the gears were still hard shift. I asked how long was it suppose to feel like this. The manager- [redacted] and the mechanic- [redacted] after his drive told me that the car was fine. no issues, but I still felt that the car was shifting hard.

Sunday 3/**- while driving to Church- the car started blinking the D5 light, check engine light and again felt that it had no power-torque like the original day back in 2/**.

I am concern that they did not do a proper job because of all the other issues I have had to deal with since they repaired my car, and that they did not repair the car right the first place just like it has shown from day one with all these issues- leak because of untighten nut, timing belt not done properly, and now other issues with electrical components showing up. The car now is acting and showing all the original issues from day 1.

I desire to take my car to another place where they can do the job properly, and for AAMCO to refund my credit card the money paid for services that were not done properly in the first place.Desired Settlement: I desire to take my car to another place where they can do the job properly, and for AAMCO to refund my credit card the money paid for services that were not done properly in the first place.

Response:

I have driven the customer's car and his concerns were in fact valid and I am embarrassed to say the least, with that being said I have talked to [redacted] on regular basis and we have replaced a defective solenoid which took care of all the banging as it controlled the pressure in the unit. I was still not happy with the performance of the the MDX so I ordered a transmission from and OEM manufacture and and am going to exchange the transmission and torque converter completely we also cleaned his throttle body as it was filthy. I also agreed because of the amount of times he had to return that if the problem was electrical I would also take care of that for him at no charge even thought electrical is not covered under the warranty. I also told him that once the exchange reman unit was installed the warranty would not start for 30 days.

I hope this will answer this concern and I am sorry it had to come to this at all I have informed my people again that I need to be involved in the beginning of problem so that I can handle it as opposed to at the end when the customer is fustrated.
