Mr. *** as he is called) provides IPTV service charging customers US$ 230 for a broadcasting box and one year of TV channels. Over a month ago I contacted *** for IPTV service as one of our friend's recommended that he provides TV service which includes many Indian movie, music or other entertainment, US and local channels. After contacting *** he agreed to send me a box which connects to the TV and then he will guide me through setting up. The total cost would be US$ 230. I keep the box and pay yearly service charge. After setting up the connection and playing with different Indian channels, I realized there was no guide/directory for the ones I was interested so it was very frustrating because I did not know what program plays at a given day or time. I called *** and he said he will talk to his technical person and fix the problem. Several days passed *** nothing happened. When I contacted *** again (most communication was by text messages) he said he could not fix individual customers request. At this time I told *** that I will return the box and all accessories and he can refund me my full amount of US$ 230. He was a bit upset and wrote back saying he will refund only the service money (US$ 120) and I should keep the box. I wrote back saying what am I going to do with a useless box. Text messages went back and forth, then he said he will send me a different box (which he never did), he asked me to retype some other link, that did not work either. I approached *** through which the payment was made in the name of ***, I don't know the relationship with *** I also contacted my bank to claim a dispute. He has set up his payment account for his IPTV service *** in such a way (he says friends and family payment) that a customer can not recover his/her money if there is some problem.
