Although this is the final sprint to “Tax Day 2016”, and each and every moment is crucial to us delivering the exemplary service to our client, I am taking the time to address the fraudulent and defamatory allegations made by [redacted] and [redacted] as the addressed themselves to us.
I have attached...

several documents which should help clarify this situation for you. In these documents I have covered their SSN and TAX ID numbers to protect their privacy.
As you will see, Most of the contact and scheduling was made by email. We are not the type of firm that would ( nor do we need to) offer “ a free consultation”. I am the only person that answers the phone/email for our firm, and I am up front with our $175 per hour rate. I do I do ask if they would like to speak to Aaron (our CPA) on the phone, that way if they believe it will be out of their price range they do not need to waste their time or Aaron’s during this hectic season.
Their meeting was scheduled on  Saturday, January 23 2016, from 1:30-2:30. As you can see from the attached calendar page, they stayed talking to Aaron until almost 5:00pm. Aaron had me reschedule two other appointments that he had so he did not have to cut off [redacted] and [redacted]. At what point in those over 3 hours of Aaron’s time did they feel uncomfortable?
As you will see by the Engagement Letter that both of them signed, after they laid out the basic issues that had come to see Aaron about, then they were presented with the Engagement Letter. The hourly rate is clearly specified. They could have left at that point, but that didn’t even slow them down.
Further into the conversation, Aaron asked if they wanted to do a Power of Attorney for the state of Oregon as well as the IRS for each of them personally, them jointly, and her business income and payroll. Those forms, signed by each of  them, are attached as well. During this time they are still using Aaron’s time and asking for help and advice which Aaron was glad to provide.
At the closing of the appointment, they asked Aaron what the cost would be to do all of the collecting, creating, and building what they needed he said that the taxes and penalties to the state and fed could be between $6,000-$8,000 as a very rough guess but that he couldn’t possible have a better answer until they received the transcripts back.
With new clients we do charge for their first appointment at the conclusion of that appointment. As it clearly specifies in the Engagement Letter that they signed the charge is $175 per hour. They arrived at 1:13pm and they left at 4:52pm, which is 3.8 hours- which totals $665.00. They said that they were really “tight on funds” could they pay part and then when they came back they would pay the balance of said visit plus the next visit. Aaron suggested 2.5 hours which is 437.50, that leaves them with a $227.50 balance due.
A few weeks later, [redacted] called and said that she decided that she and [redacted] wanted to do their taxes themselves, and they would be back after tax time to deal with the other issues. She asked if she could come pick up her information, and I said she was more than welcome. I had it waiting for her when she arrived. She seemed grateful, and thanked me; she didn’t mention the balance due and neither did I. Due to their financial situation, Aaron waived their balance due and was going to let them know when they returned.
It seems very odd that she waits all this time to bring her complaints to you now.
Additionally, I did include an “authorization to disclose information” form that [redacted] and [redacted] can sign and date and return to you or us. This will give me permission to share all of the meeting notes that occurred in the almost four hours that they met with Aaron.
I appreciate your time, these claims are defamatory and dishonest, but I know that you are doing your due diligence so please contact me if you have any questions and/or if I can clarify this issue further.

This woman was not at the appointment and did not witness any of the goings on. She is completely lying. Aaron did say it was a free consultation. At the completion of the meeting he stated that because it ran over 30 minutes it would not be fair to not pay something and he told us it was $800 not $600.  I was exasperated when he said this and was completely shaken as we were never told the appointment was anything other than a free consultation and we certainly would never have come knowing he was gouging with his fees. He said would half be fair. I said no but did I really have a choice? So he said it would be $437 +/- I gave him my bank card and left.  The paper you have signed was slipped to us to sign at the end of the appointment. We did not have the opportunity to read it over nor did he provide us with copies of what we signed. It was our understanding that it was for him to complete our taxes for the years needed. Stacy, it is very disgusting for an accountant firm to lie so blatantly about a potential client. Crooked and underhanded. I will file a complaint with the state licensing board as well since you have opted to respond so dishonestly. . Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:Sincerely,[redacted]
