A&B Contracting

I hired Brian R to replace a metal roof. I signed the contract on Oct 1,2019 and wrote a down payment check for 5600.00. Brian said he needed to finish a couple of small jobs and would be in contact. When I hadn't heard from him by Oct 29, 2019, I sent an email. Brian says he is running behind due to an accident and needed to take time off.
Should be at my place within a couple of days.
I checked again on 11/08/19.
Brian now states he is a couple weeks behind due to the accident.
There is one delay after another.
Finally have a start date of nine am on 12/13/19, this was not the first start date.
Brian finally arrived around 11:30 12/13/19 no crew, no ladder, no drop tarps.
In an earlier text he had stated the crew was in town waiting for him, this is about five
minutes from my residence.
I arrived about 1:15 still no crew and he was using my ladder. Brian was on the roof pulling screws
and letting them fall to the yard. I noticed that both his hands were shaking, I asked where the crew was, Brian stated they must be lost. I asked him to come down from the roof at this point.
I then noticed that Brian’s eyes were very bloodshot, and he mumbled several answers to my questions. It was my belief at this point that Brian was under the influence of some type of intoxicant
I believed this to be a dangerous situation and fired Brian A&B Contracting.
He unhooked from the trailer containing the roofing materials and went looking for the crew.
He returned about an hour and ten minutes later with two young men.
They unloaded the material while Brian wrote a refund check for the difference between the material
and my down payment.
This check came back NSF on Friday evening.
I received an email from Tara L on Dec 16, 2019 stating she was the owner of A&B Contracting
she wanted me to let them finish the job.
On Dec 17, I received another email with an over inflated invoice showing added cost to the job.
Tara L stated my refund would only be $340.15.
Ms. L did not have the invoice from the supplier she used numbers from a quote sheet
that did not match the invoice.
I requested a full refund of $2299.24. Down payment of $5600.00 minus cost of materials $3300.76.
There has been no further contact with A&B Contracting.
I also know at this time on 10/29/19 when Brian is telling me he can’t work due to accident he
is filing online to start a new company in Oregon called Robo Contracting.
