Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I was told the tires would be removed to check the wheel bearings and see how the oil on them looked and to see if they needed to be repacked. One of the recommendations was replacement of wheel bearings. In order to known they need to be replaced the tire would have to be removed. All lug nuts on all 4 tires were finger loose when I picked the truck up. The tow truck driver verified this. I had been driving this vehicle and had no problems with the tires falling off. I will reiterate that this could have killed me or someone else. Serious stuff!

On July 7, 2016, Travis Young signed an estimate for repair for a 2009 Volvo S40 [redacted] with three specific requests. Evaluate a noise suspected to be coming from the exhaust system, evaluate and repair for an inoperable A/C system and lastly a request to complete our premier quick...

service. There were 109,814 miles on the odometer at the time of requested repair. It was the first visit to our shop and we had no other history of the cars condition. The diagnosis was that no noise was coming from the exhaust system but that the front left axle HUB bearing was bad and needed replacement. The diagnosis to correct the inoperable A/C system was due to an A/C compressor failure. Both of these repairs were approved by the customer. During the course of the premier quick service and inspection, four additional items were discovered and repairs suggested by the service advisor-Left and Inner CV boot wear, engine coolant reservoir damage, rear brake rotor and pad wear and cracked/worn engine belts. Apparently due to budget constraints all of these recommended repairs for these items were declined. On July 8th 2016 the total charges for repair and service of $1770.92 was paid in full and the car was released to the customer. Two weeks later we were notified that the car had overheated and sustained engine damage while the customer was travelling across country. At no time prior to that were we informed of any issue with the repairs completed on July 7. Apparently the failure of the head gasket and subsequentoverheating of the engine caused the engine failure. The customer demanded payment for the repair and we refused due to at no time while we were in possession of the car were we informed of any issue pertaining to the possible head gasket failure and we did not perform any repairs that might have contributed to its subsequent failure. It was an unfortunate and costly failure of a critical part of the engine that was unforseen but not completely impossible due to the age and miles of the car. We cannot be held responsible for the failure of parts or systems that are not included as part of a customer complaint or request for repair.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.the business is failing to accept any responsibly for their actions and negligence with my vehicle repairs or rectify the situation in any way. Also, many of there facts are incorrect such as it being two weeks after the repairs when it was one week and two days And I only put on 2100 miles, the repairs should hold that amount. These details are important to the timeline of my car breaking down. The fact that the business is unwilling to make any good faith effort is unacceptable.

long time and that she would like to restore as her budget would allow. We installed a lighter spring on the carburetor and mixed some cracked vacuum caps. I recommend tune up parts and she declined. We took the inner door panel apart and fixed the outside door linkage. I ordered matching door lock cyl.s with keys for the truck. Those locks are paid for and they have arrived. We changed the engine oil and filter. I had some recommendations Ms. [redacted] to consider. Which are listed on her invoice. None of the work that we did on this truck involved checking, inspecting, removing installing the wheels and tires.  I did her help her with this problem at no charge to her. I have attracted my invoices Jim H[redacted]
