Kids Abbeville is billing for things not allowed by insurance. Talked to Marcy, office manager who is very rude and not helpful in the least about the fact that insurance states they are billing for things that are not in contract with the insurance company. Very unprofessional and do not recommend this facility again

I have received multiple bills and attempted to fix with no success, no call back from abbevile either.
My daughter received a temporary spacer multiple months ago, for which I signed a contract stating it was paid for 100% by my insurance. I then received a bill stating I owed the full price of one spacer. I requested that the office resubmit
It through my insurance to see if it was a mistake. Abbeville stated they resent it for reconsideration however did not, so I continue to have a balance for a service I was told was 100% covered by insurance. In July I called to give them my daughter's secondary insiramce of her daddy's. I received another unpaid bill in July, so I called abbeville back at which time they reported I did not give them a group number for my ex-husnbands insurance. Which was also
Untrue. I received a call back from abbeville requesting it! It is now august and I have received another unpaid bill. I have called and left numerous messages for the business office manager with no return call back. The young lady this am told
Me she was unable to verify insurance without a group number. I have given this number to the office twice already. The young lady this morning was extremely rude stating "I'm trying to help you lady!" I'll just send you to my managers office. She transferred me to a voicemail that had no name attached to it, and no one has returned my call. I also called the south abbeville office hoping to find assistance
In resolving this with no call back from them either.

Desired Outcome

I want my bill adjusted and both insurances appropriately billed for the $350 charge.

With case 113931 we have contacted her and agreed that we would write off balance owed from patient. Unfortunately when going over a treatment plan it is usually correct but can sometimes come back not paying for certain treatment. We have apologized to the patient for not following up with her any sooner and have taken care of the balance owned on account.

I was told a service was covered by insurance when they knew it was not.
I took my kids for a dental cleaning on May 31st, 2018. Near the end of the visit, they recommended sealants for both kids stating that it was covered by insurance so I agreed to the service. A bill came in July even though the entire visit should have been covered by my insurance policy. I called Abbeville and they stated that the sealants for one of the kids was denied by the insurance company. I called the insurance company and found out that there is an age limit for this procedure. When I called Abbeville back and said it was because of an age limit, the person on the phone told me that it was 15. My son is 16. Even though the office knew the age limit was 15, they specifically told me that my 16 year old was covered. They said the initial charge was around $700 but would let me pay $490 instead but said the office manager would call me back. No one called. When I called for the third time they said I could pay $300 and the insurance company just gives them "estimates." During this last call the woman did say that the policy is in their computer and the age limit is listed. I don't know if this discrepancy was due to negligence or if they flat out lied in order to bill me.

Desired Outcome

I just want them to cover the service that they claimed was covered.

Abbeville Dentistry Response • Jul 18, 2018

We have reached out to the patient and informed them that we are writing off the amount owed for the sealants. We always call the patients insurance and get a full breakdown of benefits. This allows us to give the patient a better understanding of what insurance covers. In this case we did not see that the patient was over the age limitation set by her insurance provider. Since the mistake was done on our end we have no issues fixing this issue.

Customer Response • Jul 19, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
They apologized for their error and removed the charge.

False advertisement and false charges

They advertise Free exam and Xray. I was told everything was free, however, they just filed the charges to my insurance, taking away from my annual coverage. When I called, they told me that since I had insurance, I do not get it free, which seems like *** to some degree. I was then told by *** that I should have read the small fine print.

Desired Outcome

I want this charge removed!

Abbeville Dentistry Response • Apr 24, 2018

We have reached out to the patient and we have come to a mutual agreement and this matter has been resolved.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The person I spoke with on the phone said they would be refunding the charge. However, I do not see that in their response here. Their response it far to vague. I will need to see what we discussed in writing before I close the case.

Abbeville Dentistry Response • May 08, 2018

We did not mean to leave out the resolution for this case.
We will be issuing a reimbursement check to the patients insurance.
We are going to send your insurance a check for the amount that was paid to us for the date of service in question.
A check was sent and cashed by us in the amount of 110.00 that we are now sending to your insurance company.

If I could leave ZERO stars I would. The dental hygienist and the dentist on staff are great, but the office staff is incompetent. They will send you to collections for 4 years without the courtesy of calling you ONE time. Mailing statements to an old address, without a response didn't trigger any brain cells to think maybe they moved (as a college kid at the time, we moved every year). One 5 second call could of prevented this entire thing (cell phone number on file has never been changed). The statement was a dispute between the office and the insurance company on billing, after every visit, I would ask what was owed, only to be told, "It was all covered". And if you try to reach out and ask them why they never called once, they will inform you they had enough time to mail a statement over and over for 4 years. To think People would have more courtesy and brain power, especially being in Lubbock (home to the courteous). AGAIN, this is a great dentist who's office is run by incompetent/rude/ignorant/lazy individuals.

Revdex.com received the following written complaint - "I had been having headaches and after reading in a book I found out that dental stress can contribute to headaches, Tooth decay, etc, cause stress in lower jaw. I have only 4 teeth; the rest are dentures. I went first to *** & *** on 9-12-17 for free assessment. (See attached) On 9-13-17, Abbeville Dentistry told me they would do free assessment, also attached. Later some friends gave me a good report on their dentist, Dr. *** On 9-25-17, he told me I needed a new filling on one tooth. The other three teeth are okay. As I wanted him to do my dental work, I paid for his fees of 9-25-17 and on 10/2/17.
This is the last I heard from *** & *** They did not make a claim against *** One *** or me. Abbe-ville was paid $32 from *** (my dental insurer), and they sent me a bill for $123.00."

Desired Outcome

"As Abbeville told me their assessment was free, I think their payments by Humana of $32 is more than enough. I don't feel I owe them anything. *** & *** make no claim for same service. *** felt teeth didn't need pulling."

Abbeville Dentistry Response

We have talked to this patient and informed them of the statement error. When insurance pays or does not pay we write off the remaining portion. Unfortunately this instance it was not done. We have went ahead and taken care of this balance. After talking to this patient and informing them of this situation she is okay.

Abbeville Family Dentistry sent me to collections without sending me a single bill or calling me.
I was seen on September 1st of 2016 as a new patient at Abbeville Family Dentistry on 79th street. I visited as a result of a promotion they were advertising where new patients are not charged for x-rays. After being seen by the dentist I was notified that I did not owe any money for the visit as my insurance *** of ***) would be billed for the visit and that the coupon for the x-rays took care of the rest of the charges.

In March of 2017 I began receiving phone calls from a collections agency and was notified that Abbeville Family Dentistry was the creditor. I NEVER received a single bill in the mail and I NEVER received a single phone call from Abbeville Family Dentistry notifying me that I owed them money. On March 30th following a phone call from the collections agency *** I called my insurance company and was notified that they had received a bill from Abbeville Family Dentistry for $110.00 for the service date of 9/1/16 and that they had paid out a $40.00 check that Abbeville Family Dentistry never cashed. Blue *** of *** contacted Abbeville Family Dentistry that same afternoon and issued Abbeville Family Dentistry ANOTHER check for $40.00. I also called Abbeville Family Dentistry on March 30th at 14:13 and was notified that they had made a billing error and was told that they would zero out my account.

I have since then received notifications in the mail from the collections agency stating that I owe $104.45. So I somehow owe them quite near the full amount that they billed my insurance company even though they have been sent TWO $40 checks from Blue *** of ***?! I called Abbeville again on April 11th and again on April 14th. My phone calls were not returned so I showed up to their office in person on the afternoon of April 14th and explained what was going on to three different people. Then I spoke with *** who said that I owe Abbeville $140.00 AFTER the part that Blue *** of *** paid. So now they are increasing my bill and I have still NEVER received a bill in the mail! This is outrageous!

Abbeville is not only billing me illegally, but they have illegally sent me to collections. Texas civil statues state that providers must "bill a patient or other responsible person for services provided to the patient not later than the first day of the 11th month after the date the services are provided." Abbeville NEVER notified me that I owed them any money, they NEVER sent me a bill in the mail, and the NEVER called me to inform me that I owed them any money. What they are doing to me is fraudulent AND illegal.

Desired Outcome

Abbeville Family Dentistry needs to uphold their advertisement of free x-rays for new patients and honor the payment that Blue *** of *** has given them TWICE now and they must zero out my account. They must also send me AND the collections agency *** an official statement showing that I owe Abbeville Family Dentistry nothing and that their sending me to collections was an error generated by Abbeville Family Dentistry.

Abbeville Dentistry Response

I *** with Abbeville Dentistry have followed up with both the Patient and *** to resolve the issue. Typically when there is an error found in an account we will cancel the collections request to *** and make any adjustments to accounts on our end that are needed. In this case the error was brought to our attention and we did correct the mistake but there was no follow up from *** to the Patient. Therefor the patient was left to believe that there was still a problem going on. I have informed the patient that if she does not receive the requested information from *** to contact me so that I may follow up with them on her behalf. At this time the patient is okay with the information provided.
