HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!
We worked with "Beth" who initially took the time to interview our family and assess our needs. She went on to tell me that she would do all the leg work to find a perfect match for our family and our money would be well spent and protected by her guarantee. HOWEVER - the choices of candidates that we were presented had very limited experience and many had never even been in-home nannies. We were NOT allowed to speak to the potential candidates before signing a one year commitment to hire that person!! WE WERE SCAMMED into signing a one year offer agreement to meet a potential nanny because we were desperate for good child care and we TRUSTED "Beth". However when we met this young girl in person - she was overwhelmed, under qualified and SHE HERSELF left the job after only one day!! "Beth" went on to tell me this was a rare occurrence - but then a deeper online review revealed similar client experiences with families living in New York all the way down to Virginia. THIS AGENCY IS A SCAM!! They are taking advantage of desperate families looking for trustworthy childcare. PLEASE DO NOT TRUST "Beth." We have since found out that is not even her real name, she is the owner of the company using an alias. There are several ABC nanny source companies listed online - all with different addresses and different phone numbers. HOWEVER - when you call them - they all go to the same cell number. When you look at the addresses listed online - they are UPS post office boxes, etc - NOT REAL OFFICES. PLEASE BEWARE!! We do not want what happened to our family to happen to anyone else.
We opted to use *** to find a nanny for our young family. We spoke with Beth S of *** at length about our needs. Beth assured us she would have several candidates and we would be able to interview as many candidates as we wanted before making a decision as to who we would hire and we would be under no obligation to hire anyone.
We decided to work with *** and Beth provided us with anonymous descriptions of candidates. We asked Beth to contact these candidates so we could speak to them directly, and she said that *** will only allow families to contact nannies directly once they've signed a document expressing that we wanted to hire them. We told Beth that we had no intention of hiring these people without meeting them first. Beth told us that we could sign the document, interview them, and then determine whether they were a good fit. Beth informed us that her clients typically "train" the nannies over a week or two and then determine whether or not to hire them. We agreed that we could do this. Beth then charged us over $5000 based on an anticipated annual salary of a nanny we would ultimately hire.
We attempted to interview several candidates based on anonymous descriptions Beth provided. Many of them were not actually interested in a nanny position or did not currently live in our area. We did meet and interview three candidates, worked with each over a few days, and found that the descriptions of each one were completely inaccurate. They didn't have any of the experience that Beth had said they did. The nanny candidates themselves were honest about this in person.
We told Beth we were not interested in working with *** anymore and wanted a refund. Beth declined, stating that the document we signed in order to contact the nanny candidates served as an employment offer. *** practices are fraudulent, the agreements we signed are completely invalidated by the false information provided to us about *** process and about specific nanny candidates.
