After reviewing the customer response and meeting with the stylist, I concluded this is a situation of conflicting reports*** stated that she was never aware of *** visiting another salon for cuts and conditionersIf it is satisfactory, I will refund *** half the amount of her previous perm,$42.50. *** ***Studio Z salon

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.First I must address the untruth that I color my own hair at home I go to a professional salon to have my hair colored, and have a professional stylist perform the color I go to Hair on Monroe Street in Madison WI My stylist there is Chloe I must also add that *** was WELL AWARE of this fact and I never once indicated that I colored my own hair I also dont "refuse haircuts" My style is a shorter style and I get my hair trimmed every to weeks....except when I am nearing a texturing service to avoid looking like Orphan AnnieI do not get my haircuts at Studio Z but I used to The stylist I had there was *** and she was fired so I was forced to go to my color gal for haircuts from then onAll these untruths were stated to distract from the main truth which is what *** had promised me after my failed perm She told me she was "not sure what happened" and promised that my next perm would be discountedAGAIN, I had colored hair both times she texturized my hairIf she had indicated to me what Karen states...that the failure was from damaged hair from coloring, and that she would not perm my hair again, WHY would she say that she would discount my next perm? AND why would she see my for a consolation for another perm on November 23rd? I did also see *** about 2-weeks before the failed perm for a consultation for her to assess my hair condition (just as I had this time) on March 9th If I indeed needed some sort of conditioning treatment as Karen states, why did she not recommend this at that time?? And finally, it was also a lie that *** had refused to perm my hair as I had an appointment already scheduled that I cancelled when they indicated that they would not extend the promised discount. Each time [redacted] has been to our stylist [redacted], she has explained the problems with store bought hair color products and the effects on permed hair. [redacted] felt [redacted] never understood the negative results these products could...

have on her hair when used repeatedly over time. The ammonia content and alkalinity is often very high which will cause unpredictable results when combined with permanent waving. [redacted] replied only her regrowth was colored, clearly not understanding that hair grows, therefore, all her hair contains this color. She also refuses haircuts resulting in dry ends. The hair must be pretreated with a conditioner containing glycol and protein before permanent waving in order for the hair not to over process. Without this step, the hair could possibly dry out beyond any repair and have to be cut off drastically. The pretreatment is meant to even out areas that are missing proteins and elasticity. Home hair color often results in a large variance of overly porous spots that must be heavily saturated with the pretreatment to work. Unfortunately, these areas may become limp not allowing the permanent wave solution to work evenly throughout the hair strand. Limp is a much more desirable result than dry, brittle and unsalvageable. Because [redacted] is unaware of what products [redacted] is coloring her hair with, she explained to [redacted] after her last service that even though the process was identical to the previous wave, the result was not. This was possibly due to color buildup over time. [redacted] spoke to [redacted] concerning the situation and he also would not perform the service under these circumstances. Had either designer been willing to perform the service, we may have extended a conditioning service at no cost with the wave service.   Any hairdresser with experience in waving and home hair color will agree with these conclusions. This is why many salons will not provide a wave service to a patron using unknown color products. [redacted] Owner
