We had a driveway installed when our garage was added to the house back about years ago Three years later, (2013) ABC showed up and offered to seal the driveway, since it was "due." We discussed the need and set a fair price, we thought, given all the work involved ($365.00) The driveway is a double wide, feet long Back three years ago, ABC sealed the driveway, we thought, very well, using the traditional method of buckets of sealant and squeegee/brush It took all day and many guys worked on it Here's the problem now: The same guy, Randy, showed up this year in October, offering "the same price" to seal the driveway again, as it needed it, given the harsh winters, etc I thought, fine, given the amount of work and product involved, the price was a sure bet Everything else has gone up in price Unfortunately, This year two guys showed up, edged the driveway, blew off the dust, and spray painted the entire drive in a total of fewer than hours! Got here at 9am, left at 10:approx I'd say that first, offering the "same old price" is totally meaningless if the job takes only 15% of the time, and less than half the product to complete Given the time spent and the spray used, I figured the job should have been more like $100, NOT $365!
When Randy came around to collect the money, I asked him when he planned to finish the job I assumed the spray was a cleaner/primer to prep the drive for the "real sealant." Wrong, he said, he'd sealed the drive and he wants his $Now before I take this to court, I'd like to hear some more feedback from other contractors, other customers, and of course my family attorney In the meantime I'm sending him a copy of this text, along with a request that he the driveway with the squeegee next spring (its too cold now) and I'll pay the cost he quoted me when that's done In the meantime, if he'd like to push the issue we can go to court I'm retired, and though I lack lots of cash, I have tons of time to fight against people who would take advantage of customers who, like me, "forgot" to ASK THE RIGHT QUESTION: In this case, "Are you just going to spray it with paint, or are you going to squeegee it on properly?" By the way, it did rain several times since the spray coating dried As the rain began to dry up, each time the driveway looked more cracked and crazed than ever Not "sealed" in any fashion Both large and small cracks appear whenever some water hits it and you can see the contrast between the top surface and the lower, surfaces in the cracks, which cover the entire driveway WE ARE, AT THIS POINT, VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH RANDY AND THE ABC SEALCOATING BUSINESS FROM CHARLESTOWN, NH
On July 13, 2016, ABC Paving Company was contracted to seal our driveway. On July 14, Randy S[redacted], owner, called to reschedule the driveway sealing because of impending rain. On July 15, ABC Paving sealed our driveway in a very professional manner. We were very pleased with the results of this sealing. We highly recommend Randy S[redacted] and his crew of two, Dexter and Jeff. On top of all of this, a friend of ours who is a Realtor, complimented the job also. He wanted to contact ABC Paving when any of his clients needed to have their driveway sealed. The price to seal our driveway was very reasonable.
