Fantastic service.

Prompt arrival, courtesy of the plumber was great to experience.

Completed work on time and within the budget as stated. THANK YOU!

I'm not sure if I should report a scam or give a review. $600 water heater for $1,800 from ABC. Not the first time I've been ripped off and won't be the last. Seems to be the American way!

I had ABC replace a water heater they did an outstanding job. The plumber even wore booties to keep my floor clean!

Let me start by saying that writing a negative review is new for me but in this case I feel obligated to make an exception. To be honest, the overall work in general appears satisfactory (no leaks etc.). Unfortunately, we too joined the ranks of some of the other reviewers and fell prey to ABC Plumbing’s dishonest business practices. My hope is that this will help others from making the same mistake(s) that we did (remember that positive reviews are often “planted” but negative reviews are usually real).

We had a pinhole leak in our incoming water line between the house and the city valve. ABC plumbing was our first call. We were quoted $3500 and they could start today. This seemed on the high side since there was only 23 feet of easy digging (red flag #1) so I asked why so much. I was told that if it was grass it would only be $2500 but since they have to move the 2 inches of cinder rock and repair any sprinkler lines it would be an extra $1000. I asked him how much it would be if I repaired the sprinkler lines and he said $3000 and they would still replace the cinder rock and make it look nice. After we agreed (knowing that it was too much but I wanted it done), I was informed that there could also be as much as $200 more for city permits. Again I agreed.

The 1st day they dug the trench, then talked my wife into another $200 for them to repair the sprinkler lines so that I would not have to do anything. The next day was a half day to install the manifold and tubing and clean up. They asked my wife for the rest of the $3400 payment. She asked for the receipt for the city permit. As anticipated, they did not get a city permit yet still charged us (red flag #2) so she only payed $3200. Independently, my neighbor across the street also stopped me that evening and said “I hope you didn’t pay these guys by the hour, etc. etc. I have everything on my security camera if you need it.” Anyway I probably paid too much but that was my fault. You would think I would know by now to ALWAYS get 2 or 3 bids…

After they left, my wife called me at work. I asked for her to check the water flow and also check the sprinklers. The sprinkler did not work so ABC plumbing was called back. The old sprinkler supply line was hooked up to the incoming supply line at the manifold by the house. They removed the old manifold but did not hook up the sprinkler line to the new one. My vacuum breakers for the sprinklers are around the side of the house and ABC plumbing told me that they could not hook up the sprinkler line directly to the manifold as it was installed. To be to code, they would have to install a brass vacuum breaker next to the hose bib. Fair enough but red flag number 3 coming here… To install a new brass vacuum breaker and re-hook up my sprinkler line would cost $489 for the new brass vacuum breaker valve + approx. $300 labor. Knowing now that they did not do any repair work to the sprinkler lines, I asked how much repair work they did to the old sprinkler line for the $200 that they talked my wife into? They “amazingly” agreed that there was no repair work done, nor was there a refund (again). I told ABC plumbing that since there was no repair work done for the $200 let’s use that to pay for the labor for the new vacuum breaker install. ABC plumbing asked for me to a least pay for a $79 service call and I agreed to the new terms. I was pretty sure that $489 for a brass vacuum breaker was not a reasonable price so to avoid last minute demands for a receipt etc., I went to Home Depot and purchased one (about $90). We then called the office and informed them that we picked one up.

Monday comes and they ask us for the receipt so that they could take it off of the total. My wife informs them of the agreement that was made (installation for the already paid for $200 sprinkler work + service visit $79). We would not pay for the vacuum breaker since we supplied our own. The manager asked my wife if she could have me call. I called from work and explained the same situation. The manager was definitely not calm and said that obviously a vacuum breaker does not cost $489. He had no explanation for why I also had to negotiate the installation labor costs other than to say “Did you get it in writing?” Actually, wise words. I wish I had but I am not used to this sort of dishonest business practices. So here we are out more money than we should be and without sprinklers… Hopefully, I have learned my lesson and saved some others from a similar ordeal.

We called ABC plumbing with a simple request. We were having new kitchen counters installed and needed a plumber to 1.) turn off the valve handles under the sink and 2.) return another day to install a new garbage disposal and faucet.(My husband had already removed the old disposal.) 2 ABC plumbers arrived charging a $79 "drive to your house" fee. They also wanted a $119 diagnostic fee. (There was nothing to diagnose.) They spent most of their time in their truck doing "calculations" and the rest of their time trying to get me to return the faucet and garbage disposal we'd purchased from Lowe's so they could sell us their products. They informed me that valve handles sometimes break when turned off but ABC could replace them for $200. All of their "calculations" took about an hour. And the result? They would either charge $700 or $1100, depending on if Lowe's or ABC products were used, to complete the work! Regrettably, I paid them the $79 "drive by" fee but not the diagnostic fee...and asked them to leave our home. Fortunately, we found a wonderful plumber...no big name company...who did all the above work for...TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS. He turned the valves and they did not break...but if they had he said it would cost $35 to replace them. The experience with ABC plumbing was appalling and I wonder if I was preyed upon because my husband wasn't home and that I'm a female senior citizen. BEWARE of this company.
