ABC Seamless of Lincoln Reviews (%countItem)

Had my gutters replaced about a year ago by ABC Seamless of Lincoln, NE. Absolutely pleased with results. The estimate was was only $100 off what they actually charged me. Very professional and polite. Afterwards, they walked me around explaining everything they did, the small problems faced and how they fixed it and general up keep on my new gutters. Highly recommend to anyone who is thinking about replacing gutters.

from ABC Seamless gave us a verbal quote of $*** to fix our roof flashing so the water will not drain behind the gutter. A gentlemen came out and made the repair, which took less than an hour to perform. We were later charged $*** for the repair. ABC stated that their minimum charge for a small job is $***. The $*** was excessive considering how long it took them to complete the work and very little supplies were used. The gutters were not replaced just adjusted. I would not recommend ABC to anyone. I found the sales person to be *** and the owner not willing to hear my complaint.

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment I understand ABC did a job for us and I am willing to pay for their time to do it. I believe the $*** charge was excessive. The verbal quote that *** gave us was much more inline to the actual repair that was done.

The minimum trip charge for a service call (non-warranty related) is $***. That is the minimum to make a trip to the house to check out any problem whether it is gutters, siding, windows, etc.

This was a non-warranty issue. There had been another contractor/roofer who had done work on the property and had removed or re-hung the ABC Seamless gutters. It states on the warranty that any work performed on an ABC Seamless product by another company or contractor is subject to voiding the warranty. We have not voided their warranty for this at this time.

Upon arrival on the job, the gutter installers (2) discovered that the gutters would need to be checked and re-sloped all the way around the house to make sure there was proper water flow and drainage. They don't just push up one section of gutter and call it good. They will make sure the whole system is flowing properly.

Gutters were adjusted accordingly. They were thoroughly cleaned of debris (including flushing the downspouts) and water was run to check water flow.

Installers are 'on the clock' from the time they leave the office until they get back, or finish the job to head to the next jobsite. The time on this job was nearly 2 hours for 2 installers.

Most instances like this, where another contractor or installer is responsible for any 'damages' to the ABC products, we are in contact with both the contractor and homeowner. Generally speaking, that contractor should be responsible for the charges, but that is for the homeowner and contractor to work out and agree upon. We cannot randomly bill the costs of repair to someone other than the homeowner.

As in most cases like this, the homeowner pays for the service and then pursues the damaging party for restitution. Though it is better to have this worked out before we come out to do the work.

ABC Seamless did not obtain the correct permits, or inspections as required.
ABC Seamless was hired to build a sunroom/3 Season room on the back of our home. After the work was complete, we were told it was ok to occupy the space. Several months later our home was put on the market, and the buyers had a whole house inspection done. It was found during the inspection, that the sunroom was unsafe to occupy. That the fire place vent was venting directly into the sunroom, omitting carbon dioxide into the air. The inspector felt the sunroom must have been a dyi protect. I stated we had hired ABC Seamless and a permit had been pulled. I immediately call *** with ABC during our conversation, he talked very poorly about inspectors stating they are way to picky. *** lead me to believe all the inspections had been done. I then call the *** to find the documentation to show the inspector, and was told only the building permit was pulled and only the footings were inspected. *** from the *** stated an electrical permit from him or from the State chief electrical inspector was obtained. Both of which are major violations that come with fines. *** also stated the only inspection that was done, was for the footings, not for the framing, electrical work etc.. the building permit was still open. The finial inspection had not been done, the space was not yet safe to occupy. I immediately contacting ABC Seamless asking them to obtain the correct permits, do all inspections and for reimbursement of the work required to get the space up to code and safe to occupy. *** stated he was not at fault, and would not pay for any of the work required to get the space up to code, to close the permit. In order not to delay the closing of the house, we hired out the work that was required to get the sunroom safe to occupy. Venting the fireplace vent out of the roof so it was not venting directly into the room filling it with carbon dioxide. ABC Seamless did come fix the stairs that were also shown to be unstable. After the work was complete, I arranged for the inspections to be completed with the *** and for the permit to be closed, showing the room was safe to occupy. I submitted the bills to ABC Seamless asking for reimbursement, for the required work, and was again told by *** it was not his fault and he is refusing to reimburse us.

Desired Outcome

Reimbursement for the work that was required to bring the sunroom that was built by ABC Seamless up to code and safe to occupy.

ABC Seamless of Lincoln Response

I am sorry to hear about the homeowner's disappointment in the project. When we do a sunroom or patio project our main purpose is to provide a finished project that they want, where they want. We may suggest better or different ideas, but in the end we try to give them what they have in mind. While requirements may vary by city and county, we generally obtain required permits on behalf of the homeowner unless otherwise requested. We never intentionally avoid or go around the process. Many homeowners desire to obtain permits and request inspections on their own schedule. At the time of design and consultation there was no mention, questioning or concern brought up about the venting. There are some occasions where items, such as a vent, are just cosmetic and not actively in use. Because it was never brought to our attention, we did not view as an issue. In terms of wanting reimbursement for having the venting moved to the roof, we never included that work in our estimate and never charged as such. We are not qualified to do such work. Same with the electrical work, as we have to use another contractor for that portion. Those charges are included in our estimate and we pay that contractor on behalf of the homeowner. If ever we do include charges for something on a project and end up not doing a certain part of the work, that amount would be credited to the homeowner. In this instance, even if it had been addressed before design and installation, another contractor would have had to been used to provide this service at which time we would have included those additional charges in our estimate or the homeowner would have had to pay separately.
