that much weight on his trailer. Our company has always had a minimum charge on loading that is $18. The rock she choose is 3/4" clean limestone and the price is $18 per half (the minimum) and $28 for a whole yard. This is how it is listed on our website price sheet and the same price sheet is available to take home from the store also. The minimum is what everyone pays when they take a smaller amount than the one yard which is how we have all bulk gravels priced. If they take less than one yard and that price broke down does not meet the $18 minimum then they will be charged the $18 for the minimum. We have had this policy in effect for 9 years and she was not charged any differently than anyone else who does not want a whole yard or does not bring a vehicle that can handle the amount they want. She sent a person to pick it up that was unable to put that much weight on his trailer and they arrived at 12:42 pm on the day we close at 1 pm. We would not have loaded the other half yard on her even if she returned the same day for anything less than the $18 minimum. Each time we load a truck or trailer that is not all in one trip we charge the minimum rate. Her driver said to both myself and the loader operator that he did not want any more than that on his trailer so this was ultimately the trailer owners decision.

First of all my driver had no idea about the limitations of the weight on the trailer. That was something that Load & Go told him when he went to pick it up. The point I'm trying to make, is that since the business knew in advance that we were going there to pick up a full load, they should have had the decency to give us the price for a full load, even if it took two trips to get it. It doesn't matter that they've had an $18 minimum policy for 9 years. I'm not arguing about their pricing. What they did was bad business and misleading because I really thought Id be able to get the rest of the gravel for the balance of $10. The worst of it was that the employee would not let me talk to the manager, and basically told me that the manager refused to talk to me.

Being a long time business owner myself, all I can say is that I am truly amazed at this company's response to an unhappy customer over a $10 difference. Not good business.
