We recently gutted our sizable kitchen and did an extensive remodel on our year old home in Glendale, Missouri Due to the the job scope, complexity, age of our home and time-sensitive nature (work to be completed while on vacation) of our wood floor project we knew we needed to choose an experienced, trustworthy contractor who was adept in working with older homes Our project included "lacing in" new oak flooring with existing oak flooring seamlessly between the kitchen and family room, working around new cabinets and center island, and sanding, applying a dark stain (sampled on our floor prior to leaving on vacation) and applying four coats of waterborne finish to over square feet of oak flooring In addition all new shoe molding needed to be installed in every room We chose to work with Abeln Floor Systems because of their excellent communication and amount of care taken during the bidding process When we returned from our vacation we were pleasantly surprised to find they had done a spectacular job I would recommend Abeln Floor Systems to anyone

We recently purchased a house and it had carpeting over the wood floors in the bedrooms and dining room We hired Jim to remove the carpeting and refinish the floors We were from out of town and had limited time windows to meet Jim to look at the job Jim was easy to get ahold of and came over when we needed him to
After he started and removed the carpeting we discovered there was damage to the flooring in of the bedrooms One had stains from pets The other had screws/nails from the prior owner who tried to eliminate squeaks! Jim worked with us to select the boards that should be replaced His crew quickly took care of the replacement / repair of the floor boards They matched 100% The entire job was prepped/stained in a day He came back on a regular schedule to complete the finish
Overall what an excellent job Jim and his crew did We are extremely pleased We get complements on our flooring I highly recommend Jim

In September 2016, I went through a home renovation. [redacted] and Abeln Flooring Systems came highly recommended by a contractor friend I trust to handle the renovation of the floors for the entire first floor of my home.
[redacted] first came by to discuss the project, take measurements and also give ideas and make recommendations on the different types of wood species that would work well in my space. About a week later, he personally met me at a flooring warehouse to look at samples, and he walked me through the entire process, letting me know what to expect from the project, including demolition, timing for wood delivery, installation, etc.
His team showed up at the scheduled time each day of the project. They were trustworthy and meticulous in their work, and cleaned up each day they were in my home. [redacted] was on site to check on his team each day and stayed in consistent communication with me throughout the project.
From the time they started, the project was finished within one week -- on time, on budget and beautifully performed.
I've learned that [redacted] is not only a specialist when it comes to wood flooring, but he is thorough and conscientious to make sure the best materials for the dollar are being used. On a side note, I also learned that [redacted] is a caring person (he uses personal time and talents to tend to things that matter) and a great boss (I witnessed that his team genuinely enjoys working with and for him!).
I know if I ever have an issue, I'll be able to call and [redacted] will follow through. In short, working with [redacted] was the smoothest and best part of my first floor renovation, and given the chance, I would hire Abeln Flooring Systems again and again.

My floors are beautiful! My experience in having my floors refinished couldn't have been any better. Jim Abeln was attentive to my needs, provided an estimate right away, showed up on time and updated me each day on the progress of the floors. Our project included "lacing in" new oak flooring with existing oak flooring seamlessly between the kitchen and family room, working around new cabinets and center island, and sanding, applying a dark stain (sampled on our floor prior to leaving on vacation) and applying four coats of waterborne finish to over 1200 square feet of oak flooring. In addition all new shoe molding needed to be installed in every room.

We had all the floors in our home sanded and refinished recently. In one room a section had been watered damaged. [redacted] was one of the best contractors we've worked with. He spent a lot of time on the consult to assess what was needed, and he was knowledgeable and passionate about hardwood. What set him apart was that he's a good communicator. He was easy to talk to, we never felt talked over, and best of all, he made nightly check-in calls to touch base on the work done that day and to discuss the work for the next day. We moved to the basement during the work, which wasn't easy, so having good communication with the contractor was essential. We were also pleased with the crew assigned to do the work. They were professional, they showed up on time, they worked everyday, and they were very respectful of our home. Did I mention the floors turned out beautifully? We are still oohing and aahing over them. I would highly recommend Abeln Floor Systems and would use them again.
