I would never recommend Moving Place We used moving place to transport our car across the country A couple days after the car was delivered, as we put the attenna back on our car, we discovered many scratches across the top of our carOf course the driver they hired denied any faultMoving Place gave me the run around, pretending to file a claim with their insurance, but they never followed up with meThey ignored my follow up emails as well

Worst moving company I have ever worked withFirst they dropped it off hours late, picked it up hours late then then told me (and I signed a contract, twice!) that my truck would be here by the 10th of AugustJust was told now that it won't be here until tomorrowWhen I called and asked why they just said "well it moves slower than we thought, nothing we can do for you"Then I told them it was unacceptable and they still didn't get anything accomplishedI am not happy and after all that, paid more than I would for other companiesI will NEVER go through them ever again and won't recommend themHorrible service and did not get it here when they said they would

I recently used moving place and was very pleased with the experienceI must say that I was a little leary after reading some if these reviews but I decided to take a chanceI was moving from Boston to Phoenix on New Year's Day so I went on their website the first week of December and filled out an online form for a quote to move my furniture and carI was called the next day by a nice gentleman who asked a few more questions and then he emailed me a quote for both servicesBoth quote were very reasonableI was actually surprised at the cost because I've called about a dozen other companies who charged way more and gave you less spaceI decided to take advantage since time was tickingBecause the move was before two major consecutive holidays (Christmas & New Year's) I had to ship both my car and furniture by Dec 17thThe only bad thing was that when the company tried to deliver the truck so that I could load my furniture it wouldn't fit in my driveway because of the porch overhang and the street was too crowded for them to park it so I had to end up renting a uhaul and loading my things onto the uhaul and drive it out to their terminal in Avon and then load the items from the uhaul to their truckI was alloted the ft of space and was not charged any more than that(I did take a video just in case I was charged for using more space)Anyway, my car arrived super quick (Christmas Eve to be exact) and the anticipated arrival date for the furniture was Thurs 12/but it didn't get there until Tues 1/Because of the two holidays and weather related issues I completely understoodIt was an inconvenience and a hassle to be without my furniture but any time I sent an email to the company to inquire about anything they responded with either a prompt email or phone callEveryone I dealt with was so nice and understandingI would definitely recommend this company to anyone doing a long distance moveJust remember that an anticipated delivery date is just that and although they try to honor that date as best they can, things do happen so expect the unexpected

Moving place: Does not care about it's customersThey are only out for the moneyWhen you attempt to call/email them they don't get back to youThey give you the run aroundAnd then make up excuses for their services
They are not genuine or realThey do not careThey talk a good game and nothing morePlease before you use themAsk questionThen go to other companies that may be a little higherEven though they are higher they will provide better service
What goes around comes back aroundCan't do people any kind of way and expect that you are to be blessedThat's okay though
Lesson well learned!!

Movingplace was absolutely fantastic! Much more reasonable than anything else we could find, plus all the logistics worked out perfectly, even when we had to change our plans. Not sure about closer moves, but from Washington to Virginia it was cheaper than Uhaul or any of the other haul-it-yourself companies and we didn't have to worry about driving the truck and could just enjoy the journey:). They have one person manage the move start to finish, so every time we called we could pick up right where we'd left off with Stuart instead of explaining our situation to a new rep every time. Stuart saw us through, start to finish, and followed up too. So impressed with Movingplace!

I have used Moving Place for three cross-country moves and they are fabulous! They make the difficult experience of moving so much better by being responsive and helpful at all times. I think they offer the best deal for a long distance move, too. Thank you Chris and Stuart!

We used MovingPlace to move our household goods from Tampa, FL to a suburb of Chicago. We could not have been more pleased as they performed EXACTLY as they promised. I have read the complaints on Revdex.com and most seem to stem from the customer either not understanding the timing or the space requirements. All this was explained clearly to me both in writing and over the phone.

If you understand the process up front, you will be able to plan accordingly and you will be pleased. Itâ??s important to know what the MovingPlace is and what it isnâ??t. I believe many of the Revdex.com complaints arise because the customer sets their expectations based on full service moving companies or drive yourself moving-van rental.

First, what it isnâ??t. If your expectation is that the MovingPlace will drop off their trailer(s) at 8:00 am and you schedule movers to arrive at 9:00 am that same day, you will probably be very disappointed and frustrated. If your expectation is that the person who drops off your trailer(s) will be the same person who drives them cross country and knows everything about your move, you will probably be disappointed.

If your expectation is that your trailers will arrive at your destination at a specific time on the drop date and you schedule movers to arrive shortly thereafter, you will probably disappointed as well. In addition if you calculate the time it takes you to drive from xx point to xx point and set that same expectation yourself, you will probably be disappointed.

Regarding the space required for your move, itâ??s important to understand that the MovingPlace is being charged for the actual space used and so will you. You should strive to be as accurate as possible in calculating and tracking this space, so you wonâ??t have any surprises.

So here is what the MovingPlace is. If you understand how it works, you will not be disappointed. The MovingPlace contracts with a freight company to drive your household items across country. You can contract for as little as 4 feet on a semi-trailer up to a full 53 ft. trailer. You pay for the actual space used and the distance travelled. In our case we needed one full 28 ft. â??pupâ? trailer (actual inside space is 27â??1â?) and 9 feet on the second trailer to move a four bedroom home. The space you will require depends on what you own. Gas grills and elliptical machines take up space. When we originally completed the MovingPlace space request, it calculated 28 feet based on a four bedroom home. I immediately felt that was low because we used 38 feet for our original move to Florida four years before.

This begs the question of how you can accurately calculate the space. We did this two ways: 1. by bringing in local movers who actually came to our home to accurately calculate the cubic feet required and 2. by using a detailed space calculator on a competitorâ??s web site. I used the one that requires you to list each piece of furniture and the number of boxes and plastic totes. This took a little time, but was not as complicated as I thought it would be. The space calculator figured 37 feet and we actually used 36.

Because it is more difficult to measure the space used after a partial trailer is used, I measured off one foot increments from 6 feet through 10 feet and wrote these measurements on duct tape that I put right on the floor of the trailer and then took before and after pictures. It was clear exactly how many feet we used.

Regarding the timing, [redacted] at the MovingPlace explained to me that our two 28 ft. trailers would be dropped off sometime on Monday December 29 and that someone would need to be home to show the drivers where to drop them and sign off. I subsequently received an email saying they would be there sometime between 8:00 and noon. (Two [redacted]â?? trailers were dropped off around 10:00 am.) We arranged for the local movers to come at 9:00 am the following day. The semi drivers were local Tampa people. Their only responsibility was to drop off our trailers and leave. They only knew the delivery address because it was on the bill of lading.

Because it was a holiday week, the MovingPlace arranged for the trailers to be picked up on Friday the second, longer than their typical 3 day period. We put a padlock on each trailer, gave our neighbor the keys and were on our way. They picked the trailers up around 9:30 on January 2, just as promised. They told us the trailers would be delivered sometime between 8:00 and noon on Friday, January 9. One came at 8:00 and the other at 10:00. We arranged for local movers to unload on Saturday the 10th. The MovingPlace committed to pick up the trailers on the morning of Monday, January 12 and thatâ??s when the drivers showed up.

In conclusion, the MovingPlace told us how everything worked, put their commitments to us in writing and delivered exactly as promised for a very good price. BTW, I calculated the cost of renting two 26 foot U-Haul Trucks ourselves and with the cost of fuel added, came up to the cost of the MovingPlace, except we did not have to drive two moving trucks. We hope to never have to do another cross country move, but if we do, we will contract with the MovingPlace.

Dos and Donâ??ts

Unless you really know how to wrap your furniture with moving blankets and shrink wrap and you can pack a trailer floor to ceiling that is 8 ft. wide and 9 ft. high, hire a professional local moving company. Avoid labor only services, who utilize day labor. Wrapping, loading and securing your load are the most important elements in reducing your shipping costs and protecting your furniture against damage. A local mover who also does full service cross country moves will have a much better understanding of what can happen to a load during transit and will pack and secure your load accordingly.

No matter what your local mover tells you, buy and make them use ratchet straps to segment and secure your load, especially with a partial load and or the final odd shape items like lawn mowers and patio chairs. If youâ??ve ever noticed a semi-trailer bouncing on a rough patch of road, this will be your furniture. You want your load to be as tight and secure as possible.

Buy moving blankets on Craigâ??s List; lots of them. We used 100 for our 4 bedroom house move. Spend more money on the blue, quilted blankets to protect your wooden furniture and heavy items such as dining room hutches. You can sell them on Craigâ??s List at your new location for what you paid for them.

Pack your boxes and totes as full as possible and use bubble wrap and packing paper. There may be hundreds of pounds stacked on top of your boxes, so if they are not full, they will be crushed.

Read your contract, understand the process and the dates. Your partial load shipments will travel to a different location and will be used to pick up another load, or more. If your load is in the nose of the trailer, other peopleâ??s furniture will be delivered before yours. Be flexible with dates and times, especially in winter.

Make sure you transfer your home owners or renters insurance to your new address before your move, so your goods will be protected in transit. Your belongings will be covered at your new property and if necessary in storage. You will be self-insured for your deductible amount. The insurance MovingPlace sells is for catastrophic loss, not incidental damage. Plus if there is damage, it will be hard to determine if the damage was caused by those who packed, loaded, transported or unloaded. The only way to avoid this is if you hire a full service moving company to do the entire move. In our case, the costs of hiring two â??localâ? moving companies and MovingPlace came to 39% of the cost of a full service mover. Thatâ??s a big difference.

I would never recommend Moving Place.
