Revdex.com spoke with the owner of the company who stated that she had dealt directly with the customer that day in scheduling the visit and that the customer had called and asked for service that day. The owner explained that they were booked for the day, but could offer him an after-hours call. He said...

that he would think about it, but then called back to schedule. She said that the other owner was the technician who completed the call, and came out at 5:30 that evening. She stated the technician explained to the customer the issue that he was having with the unit and that there was a leak present, but that it would be cheaper for them to do a leak search during regular business hours instead of an after-hours call. The technician also explained what it would take to get the unit cooling temporarily for the time being, and the customer agreed to that service, at which point the technician added refrigerant to the unit. The owner stated that they do not perform any services for a customer until the customer authorizes services and the charges on the ticket, which the customer did. The owner stated that several days later, the customer's wife called and was aggressive with them, stating that her husband had not had authorization from her for those services and demanded their money back. The owner explained to her that services were rendered and they were not able to refund them. They have not performed any other services for this customer.

Review: My air handler was leaking and frozen which required service. I called Able Heating and Air for an appointment and was told they would be out in the evening. When I made the appointment, I was informed the charge would be $150 to determine the problem and parts to fix it would be an additional cost, if not covered under warranty. The owner came out, determined the air handler needed refrigerant and said the cost would be $70 for the first pound and $35 per additional pounds. Two and a half pounds were added, then the owner says he doesn't have time to determine where the leak is coming from, he would come back the following week. He also stated there wouldn't be an additional charge. When my wife calls the following Monday to schedule a time to fix the leak, the owner states it would be a few days and there would be a charge ranging from $130- $375 to determine where the leak was coming from. Once the leak is detected, an additional labor charge would be charged to fix the leak. After she spoke with the owner for some time explaining thats not what we were told during his first visit, he preceded to argue with her. Our inital visit costing $150 was to include everything except for parts and labor. The owner would not come back to fix our unit without us paying more money. We were not told this in the beginning because if we were, we would have called other businesses to compare. This business owner did not provide the proper service and charged almost double what other businesses are charging for refrigerant. We feel we paid $150 for nothing, especially since he stated he didnt have time that evening to determine our problem. That's the whole reason we paid an after hours price to get our unit fixed. We were ripped off and didn't receive the service he said he would provide.Desired Settlement: I don't want this man back in our home but I do feel he owes us at least half of the $150 back since he didn't complete the service we paid for. We are completely dissatisfied and feel we just gave money away with no service rendered.
