Review: In November of 2014 my mother passed away and the house she lived in (owned by myself, brother and sister) was put up for sale. We had a buyer the first week of January 2015 and began the normal routine of selling a house. By the third (3) week we find out that we can not sell the house until we get a sign off from the NYC Dept of Buildings that the work was complete for a sewer system that was done by Able Plumbing, [redacted] back in 1996. Much to our surprise the plumber who did the job back then never completed the paperwork that was paid for to complete the job with a sign off from the city. Besides myself, my attorney and the buyers attorney spoke to [redacted] at Able Plumbing and was given an apology and stated she would re apply but be patient because the NYC DOB was a very slow agency and it could take up to six (6) months for the sign off. So now the clock starts third (3) week of January 2015. Several emails sent to Able Plumbing went unanswered in February and March 2015. In March I went to the business on [redacted] and spoke to [redacted] and some other gentleman who works there and again they apologized for the inconvenience but said it was too early for an answer. Several days after my visit to the business I received a phone call from the buyers attorney telling me the buyers lender will only proceed to closing the end of the month if I was willing to put monies into escrow. I called my attorney and the buyers attorney to see if this was the only thing to do and they both said they would call Able Plumbing first if I would give them authorization to do so, which I did. Both attorneys called and spoke to [redacted] who told them sure go ahead and have him put the monies in escrow because she did re apply in January 2015 and the sign off would be forth coming. Well it is now mid June 2015, numerous un answered emails, at least a dozen phone calls and still nothing .Half of the time the woman tells you I'll look into it and get back to you and never does. Just today I called and I was told that she was too busy to answer my call and would call back. Well no call again. The clock is ticking and time is running out on the escrow funds that I refuse to lose because of there inability to correct a mistake they made in 1996.Desired Settlement: They need to finish the job they were paid for back in 1996 by getting the sign off from the city complete with a copy of the proper paper work to me and posted on the NYC Dept of Buildings website by 08/**/2015

We bought the Company in 2007 , the previous plumber who did his sewer connection no longer holds a Plumbers license and is not able to sign off his job. We were kind enough to help and not charge him for the additional expenses we incur to sign off this job. Dealing with the city is not easy, in the winter time their main concern is "no heat" and we have no control how they process the applications. We try our best to help out each homeowner as needed. We did not do this job but the owner is penalizing us for trying to help.
