Terrible experience with this dentist. As a mother of 3 I suggest to never go to this place. My kids are now terrified of the dentist. She worked on my son after he had an abcess when she should have extracted the tooth. He was foaming at the mouth and convulsing from being in so much pain. He is 4 years old and we had to end up taking him to a different dentist to be put under and fix what she messed up. We have payed thousands of dollars to correct her mistakes. Not only that, we have experienced emotional trauma as a family. This has been a nightmare experience.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 11, 2016/09/01) */
One x-ray was taken on Consumer's primary area of concern because the last film from his previous dentist was taken in January 2016. The decay in the area was extensive and very deep. Since it had been six months from the January x-ray, it...

would have been negligent on my part not to take another x-ray when deep existing decay was previously shown. The new x-ray taken at my office revealed a progression of decay. Upon viewing the x-ray, I diagnosed root canal therapy due to the decay connecting with the pulp horn/ chamber. The Consumer was provided a treatment plan, and he scheduled an appointment for treatment. On the day of the appointment, Consumer called 10-15 minutes before his scheduled 2-hour appointment to [redacted] Consumer had signed our cancellation of appointment form and agreed on the phone to pay the $75. Two hours is a large block of wasted time where I could have seen another patient. I still had to pay the Dental Assistant. Consumer called back a few weeks later regarding performed and scheduled treatment and demanded a refund of money. He was rude, belligerent and threatened our reputation by "bringing us down" through any and all internet channels with his knowledge of the IT world. From the first time Consumer came in for an appointment, he was persistent that my IT company wasn't providing adequate Cyber protection for my practice. He was very pushy with his desire to have me hire him for my practice's IT needs. I explained to Consumer that I was happy with my current HIPPA certified IT provider, thanked him, and made it clear I was not interested in his services. He continued to try to get me to believe he could "hack" into my router and release private data. It was an uncomfortable and inappropriate conversation that he would not let go. Being nervous that he was going to try and "hack" my system to prove a point, I immediately called my IT people who explained he would have to get through several firewalls and then informed me of a current scam in the area and how the scam worked. They believe I was being scammed and would have ended up locked into two IT contracts. I have attached an explanation from my IT professional detailing this unfortunate situation. [redacted] x-ray from her previous dentist was acceptable, so I did not take any additional x-rays to help with my diagnosis. Per [redacted] the previous dentist diagnosed the need to replace her #18 filling on the lower left (LL) due to new decay under her filling. I performed a limited, problem focused exam, and had the patient point to the area of concern several times. Being a limited, non-invasive exam, I did not examine any other areas of the mouth, just the area giving her sensitivity. Upon conclusion of the limited exam and after reviewing films of LL, I diagnosed two areas of decay, interproximal caries (decay) between #18 & 19 molars. Not just tooth #18, as the patient suspected. I provided a comprehensive explanation of my diagnosis and discussed the recommended treatment plan with the patient. Consent for treatment was obtained from the patient for two fillings on two LL molars (#18 and #19). Anesthesia was given IAB, removed old filling & decay in both areas, placed new fillings, checked bite and interprox, ensuring contacts #18, 19 and 20 (left side). I did not touch the right side of [redacted] mouth during her limited visit. Could it be possible that aggressive exam being described in the complaint occurred from one of her previous dentists' offices? The exam I performed was limited and problem-focused to determine the best course of action. I did not, nor will I ever, perform and aggressive exam. Minimal time had passed before ** called our office to say the filling we had just put in fell out. After working her in for an examination, it was explained to ** that the fillings we placed were still in her mouthwe worked on the LL and the filling that came out was on her upper right (#3). An x-ray of #3 was taken as part of a routine diagnostic problem focused examination. Tooth #3 had a very large existing MOD amalgam filling, a very large and subgingival DO aspect of the amalgam fell out of tooth #3. A build-up (BU) crown was my recommended treatment plan on #3. Treatment was based on the extent of the existing filling, missing filling and decay under the restoration. The ideal treatment is a BU crown, while sub-standard treatment would be to place a filling in the DO portion. I cannot bond resin to amalgam. I could not replace an amalgam filling because of the age of an old amalgam. To add to that would not have provided adequate cold welding. ** had sensitivity with the missing filling, and I asked her if she would want a temporary filling to cover the exposed dentin until we could get her an appointment for the time needed for a BU crown (1 1/2- 2 hrs). The patient stated she wanted the temporary filling so she would not be sensitive from now until the appointment. Therefore, a temporary filling was placed, and ** left happy and thankful. I hope I was able to explain adequately how frustrating this experience has been for myself and the staff of Aboite Dental Group. We feel this complaint is unfounded and libelous.
Thank you for your consideration,

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 13, 2016/09/09) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Response to [redacted] of Aboite Dental Group
Ms. [redacted] indicated that they had "taken every avenue to understand and resolve the "consumer's confusion with numerous explanatory conversations."
This is simply not true, as I only spoke with her office on one occasion concerning this matter. She never spoke to us directly. We only spoke to the receptionist.
She also stated that "He was rude, belligerent and threatened our reputation by "bringing us down" through any and all internet channels with his knowledge of the IT world"
Ms. [redacted] indicated through her office staff that there was nothing she could do. I stated that I intended to file a complaint with the Revdex.com and Health Grades on-line, as I felt others should be aware of my unsatisfactory experience at Aboite Dental Group. While Aboite Dental Group may construe this as a "threat", I feel it is my right as a consumer to express my opinion when no attempt at a fair resolution was even discussed. It was obvious that Ms. [redacted] had no intention of attempting to resolve the problem. Ms. [redacted] never even had the courtesy to speak with us directly so we could voice our concerns. The entire conversation was with front desk office reception...so it is unclear to me how she can state what was said when she was not a participating party to any of the conversation. I was in no way rude or belligerent. I would never threaten to bring a company network down under any circumstances. In my line of work this would be considered unethical in the extreme.
Ms. [redacted] also stated "he was persistent that my IT company wasn't providing adequate cyber protection for my practice".
Ms. [redacted] is trying to deflect the problem we are trying to resolve by indicating that we had some ulterior motive in trying to solicit her IT business. It is a fact that I own a A+ rated Revdex.com business with many 5 Star reviews and personally have over 40 years' experience in IT management. I did not attempt to solicit any business from Aboite Dental Group. I simply made an observation that the IP range behind the open security wireless network was visible to anyone with the knowledge to see it. I said that it would be advisable to alert her IT providers to confirm the security of her network. That was all that was said period. This was only pointed out as a courtesy.
Ms. [redacted] further stated that her IT provider said: "They believe I was being scammed"
This is insulting and ludicrous on the face of it. It would not be difficult to establish my business ethics and long history in IT. There is no current scam it the area to my knowledge and this is just another tactic to divert attention from the real problem we are trying to solve. While my business has never received any complaints to date or negative reviews of any kind...this is not the case for Ms. [redacted]. She has a serious unsolved issue at the Revdex.com currently. It appears she doesn't work at resolving issues.
NOTE: This is not about my business or IT experience. This is about a problem we (my wife and I) have with the services provided by Aboite Dental Group and Ms. [redacted]. Therefore, I will restate the problem with more clarity and put the IT issues aside since there aren't any.
On 6/15/2016 my wife and I went to Aboite Dental Group for the first time to have cavities filled. My wife was given an oral exam and new x-rays were taken. My wife indicated that it was a complete exam covering more than the area with the cavities. Ms. [redacted] then filled 2 teeth (18- Resin composite-2s, posterior and 19-Resin composite-3s posterior).
I was then given an oral exam and new x-rays were also taken. It was determined by Ms. [redacted] that I required a root canal and crown costing approx. [redacted] and was scheduled for 6/28/2016.
Upon our arrival home my wife said that something was wrong in her mouth and immediately called back to Aboite Dental Group. They indicated it was probably some of the filling material and was not a big issue and scheduled her to see her on the same day as my scheduled appointment on 6/28/2016.
On 6/28/2016, my wife went in and learned that the problem she was having was a missing filling in another area of her mouth, and not extra material as had been recently suggested. Our problem here is that this filling was not missing when we went to our first appointment. It only seems logical that when I walk in OK and leave not OK that something has transpired to cause the problem. She called immediately after her original appointment to complain about the problem she was having and was basically told she didn't have a problem. She was also informed that no immediate appointments were available to look at the issue. So she was scheduled to a 6/28/2016 appointment just before my appointment scheduled for the same day.
On the visit of 6/28/2016, my wife was given a temporary filling and advised that she would require a crown costing approx. [redacted] She was told just replacing the filling in tooth would not work.
So, I now have 2 quotes for dental work (one for me - [redacted] and one for my wife [redacted] totaling approx. [redacted] I was upset by the fact the 4 fillings had turned into a [redacted] dental extravaganza requiring root canals and crowns. This was so unbelievable that I cancelled my appointment until I could get a 2nd opinion on Ms. [redacted]' recommendations and work. The fact that my appointment was scheduled the same day (back to back) as my wife didn't offer me any other opportunity to get the 2nd opinion without canceling my existing appointment. I firmly believe Ms. [redacted] unintentionally caused my wife's problem, she now wants to repair for [redacted]
It was at this point I sought a 2nd opinion from a local reputable dentist with a well-known practice. They filled both the missing filling for my wife and my 2 cavities for [redacted] total. What further proof do I need to establish that this was unnecessary and potentially costly advice from Ms. [redacted]. The proof is in completely satisfactory results I now have. Neither my wife or I are having any further issues with our teeth. I believe that Ms. [redacted] is a manipulator of the unwary.
My satisfactory resolution to this complaint is that the cost of the x-ray [redacted] temporary filling [redacted] and my appointment cancellation fee [redacted] totaling [redacted] be returned.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 19, 2016/09/22) */

Response to Case # [redacted]
There will be no refund for the X-ray used to diagnose the consumer's wife and the temporary filling placed. Consent-to-Treat and Financial Responsibility forms* were signed prior to treatment. Let it be known that directly before the consumer missed his appointment that he called on his free will, insisted on paying the missed appointment fee and offered his Care Credit card number. This was not a fee Dr. [redacted] assessed. While he did sign the Missed Appointment form*, this is the only fee that Dr. [redacted] is willing to use as negotiation to "move from their current condition to a middle ground." Therefore, [redacted] will be returned to the consumer. It is deeply troubling that the only resolution to this matter is a pay-out to the consumer, yet he can still post libelous statements. As professionals, where is our protection from consumers like this?
Sincerely,
Dr. [redacted], DDS

Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 22, 2016/09/23) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The premise of our complaint has always been:
Ms. [redacted] created a problem and then recommended an overpriced and unnecessary solution to resolve the problem she caused.
Her inability to consider that she may have instigated the problem, has led to a long back and forth communication via the Revdex.com. In response to her most recent "offer" we must respectfully decline. While Consent-to-Treat and Financial Responsibility forms may have been signed, this does not dismiss what we view as negligent actions on the part of Ms. [redacted]. Her statement "As professionals, where is our protection from consumers like this?" is offensive. As a consumer, I feel it is my obligation to identify and document unethical business behavior. Any consumer reading this unresolved complaint should also read the active review for Ms. [redacted]. It is clear that we are not the first to have unresolved issues with this business. Unless this situation is resolved with a full refund as stipulated previously, we will be compelled to pursue a different option to resolve the problem.
