I am writing this in response to complaint # [redacted] I would like anyone reading this to know that my name is [redacted] and I am the owner of Above Parr Hardwood Floors for years and have 1000s of satisfied customers I have between 5-workers everydayI would like to acknowledge that of this job my workers should have spent more time cleaning and we have a few details that could use more attention which I am willing to do however, my customer [redacted] has cancelled the repair appointment and wont answer texts or calls in my attempt to complete the job I would also like to say that there are no complaints about the quality of the sanding or patching We are dealing with complaints about roughness in the corners of the closets, acclimation of patch wood and using the 2nd restroom in the basement of an empty houseI will try to address each item and propose solutions We started our bid/job with a plan to sand a 70year old floor coming out from under carpet for the first time When the carpet was removed, it was discovered that there was tiles over plywood in the hall and in the entrance We bid to demo the subfloor and reinstall 1/oak flooring like is in the rest of the house I bid it at $and [redacted] accepted the proposal [redacted] did ask about acclimating the wood in the middle of installing and I explained that it wasn't necessary for small amounts of patch wood and we didn't think it was necessary to unload all of the tools from the job and explain that there were other jobs scheduled behind hers We continued with the job and nothing else was discussed about it until the Revdex.com complaint If she was really concerned, she should have stopped us but didn't If there was a problem, it would be shrinkage which I would warrant and it would match the rest of the floor which had cracks big enough to put a nickel down in We did a very good job filling the floor There are a couple of small cracks pointed out which is simple to spot fill and I offered to do it but my appointment was cancelled There is also a complaint about white filler in a spot about inches This was existing under the carpet I offered to take it out and refill or color over the spots When we contracted to pull plywood from the hall it was clearly stated that the baseboards would have to be removed and replaced [redacted] was told that the paint would have to be touched up This is also very clear in my contract that Above Parr is not responsible for paint touch up Even with this, I am willing to help with the minor touch up I just need [redacted] to help figure out the color which is unknown but a homeowner should have a small amount of touch up paint [redacted] also complained about the why the trim was cut but this was existing There was one inch piece which was cracked during removal We glued it back together, but would be willing to replace it if given a chance Someone else is installing quarteround so they could also replace this piece At the end of the hall is the air return The plywood went under the vent and we installed wood under the vent cover At the end of the job, [redacted] asked about dust down the vent and asked why we didn't block it off I explained that with very cold temperatures, blocking off all air intake could cause furnace failure which I would be blamed for We also needed temperatures for finish drying I have offer to run a long vacuum hose into her vent [redacted] is requesting a vent cleaning service at my request It is very cleary stated in my contract that Above Parr is not responsible for dust clean up I told her to make sure and change her filter We try hard to clean up dust but deny the request to pay for it Again access denied to help fix this The next issue is damage to the doors We removed the hall door for subfloor demo and put it in the other room There is a scratch on the pantry door which may have been caused by us I have multiple ways to touch up a scratch but don't have access to do it I don't think we damaged the hall door which was removed but I am willing to help touch it up Keep in mind that these are year old original doors which have damage and have been touched up in the past [redacted] wants me to replace all of the doors and I am unwilling to do so As the job blew up, [redacted] complained about trash on the job site and mess around the trash including cigarette butts and dust This was very cleary discussed because we charge for trash removal [redacted] said there was no trash service on site and cleary stated that she would haul it to another house in her vehicle When she made this an issue, I sent my van to the house and loaded the trash and cleaned the area This was done within one hour of her complains [redacted] said that she only intended to take part of the trash and the rest was mine I expect to be paid $for a dump run The next complaint is the about the finish To me the finish looks and even There are a few small specks which are and will smooth out with wear, there is roughness in the corners of the closets [redacted] accused me of not applying one or the coats which I find offensive and an accusation of theft I take this personally and have never not applied a coat which was paid for [redacted] also accused me of applying diluted polyurethane This is something I have never done Polyurethane would have to be cut with mineral spirits which is almost the same cost as the polyurethane so why would I do this I am offering a FREE EXTRA COAT over the entire floor We were given keys to the house One was put under a brick out front and one was on the counter We used both the front and back door and we coated out the back door One of the keys wound up in one of my guys pockets after the third coat As soon as I was alerted to the problem, I made a call and the key was located [redacted] wants me to pay for rekeying her house which I don't think is necessary We have the key and [redacted] wont let us return it I have been given keys to thousands of houses and have never had to rekey houses [redacted] was also very upset about us using the second bathroom in the basement We worked in her house with men for over hours We were working feet away from the main floor toilet When men use the restroom it sometimes smells so they used the second bathroom We also used the downstairs bath after coating which was necessary due to wet finish I done have anything I can do about thisKeep in mind that this is an empty house that we are at for a full week [redacted] also complained about urine sprinkles I personally cleaned her toilet and wiped down the entire bathroom [redacted] is also complaining about the way the color was chosen At the beginning of the job I showed her a fan of stain colors and provided a paper stain chart I met with [redacted] before finish was applied looking at the stain fan again [redacted] chose natural, we charge extra for staining I really don't have a response to this complaint she was give two discussions about choosing the color and we did what she wanted There is a secondary complaint after one of my workers contacted [redacted] directy trying to receive a direct payment My workers receiver 75% of there pay on the job with the rest held for final payment of the job [redacted] only did a $deposit even though it should have been $ We purchases $in wood and have over man hours I requested the rest of the deposit after the install was done and [redacted] said she didn't receive pay properly at her work [redacted] now says that a hammer and screw driver is missing I don't know what to say about this but will pay $for reinbursment for missing tools One the final day I want to remove my pile of loose left over uninstalled wood [redacted] refused to allow me to have my wood She said she had paid for the wood with her deposit but I disagree with this Her wood is what is installed Uninstalled wood is just like sandpaper or finish Extra is mine and I want my $worth of wood back There is a kitchen moulding which needs to be reinstalled No problem, just give me access Three places in the floor are not going to be covered with quarteround This was not discussed until after the last coat was completed Resolution would be to fill these spots Patching would require trips back I will do this but there would be an extra charge for extra patching Final resolution proposal [redacted] will issue a check for the rest of the deposit money which would be $ Above Parr will return the key We will spot fill the floor, fix the white place, install the moulding, touch up the paint with paint provided by *** Above Parr will vacuum the air intake and will touch up the doors Above Parr will apply a free 4th coat to the floor [redacted] will then complete final payment Items that Above Parr denies are replacing the doors, re keying the house and having the ducts cleaned Thank you [redacted] owner Above Parr Hardwood Floors

Complaint: [redacted] This is my response to the business response on my complaint of # [redacted] submitted on 1/5/2017I am rejecting the response by [redacted] of Above Parr Hardwood Floors due to the following:To repeat a previous dissatisfied customer on Revdex.com, excuses, excuses, excuses! Throughout [redacted] ***'s response it seems as though he justified his actions due to my home being years old Not that the age of my home is at all relevant, but it was actually built in making it years old I recently purchased it from the original owner and the home is in immaculate condition It is true I have not yet moved into the home, but none the less, this is my home and whether it is vacant or not should not give [redacted] or anyone who works for him the right to be disrespectful and not exercise reasonable care[redacted] states that my complaint of lumber acclimation was not brought up until after the lumber was installed This is a flat out lie Provable by a logged time table and the fact that this conversation was had through text messaging of which I have saved [redacted] ordered lumber on 12/27/ This is fact because on 12/26/the vendor was closed due to the Christmas holiday The lumber was delivered to the property the evening of 12/27/ I was at the property around 9pm that evening and saw the unopened delivery The next morning, I went to the property again to make sure acclimation process was going to take place, but there were no workers at the property From the property on 12/28/at 9:am I sent [redacted] a text message asking if he was going to allow the lumber to acclimate for days? He did state "no" and that it didn't matter due to the size of each area I did reply that I have not seen any manufacturers that recommended skipping the acclimation process regardless of the size of the area being installed [redacted] had no comment Later that same day, I met [redacted] at the property Sure enough, he did install the lumber immediately and it was here that I asked him if he was going to warranty his installation since he disregarded the manufactures acclimation recommendation Here he danced around my question and would not directly answer When I asked him specifically will he warranty his installation due to his disregard for the manufactures acclimation recommendation he stated, well if you ever have a problem sure, but he refused to put that in writing[redacted] also makes comments about preexisting conditions of previously filled areas on the floor that his company did not do I guess that's where [redacted] and cell phone technology comes in handy I have before photos with time and date and location stamps on them that show these areas that were filled in with paper were [redacted] ***'s shoddy job, not something done by a previous owner[redacted] states he is not responsible for touch up paint to baseboards Touch up paint to baseboards was not what I was talking about and he knows it I have several areas of walls where heavy equipment was banged into them and drywall was taken out along with areas on several doors that have chunks of wood taken out of them Again, I do have all before and after photos of all of this.Same thing applies to the trim I have before and after pictures Trim was broke in several pieces in several places and not even glued back together Above Parr actually attached the baseboards to the wall like an unfinished jigsaw puzzle and left some pieces out and didn't pay attention to what they were doing and nailed trim into places where there were no baseboards in the first place. The conversation [redacted] stated we had at the end of the job regarding the air vent returns never took place I had several contractors come out to look at this job All contractors stated that they would turn off the furnace and cover the air returns and vents They ALL stated that if this was not done that the sawdust would get sucked into the air return and coat the system and I would be dealing with sawdust and contaminated air for a long time When [redacted] came to bid this job, I asked him if he was going to shut off furnace and cover the air returns and vents Here he stated he recommended that I replace my air filter I stated well that is a given, but not all sawdust and pollutants would make it all the way through the system to the air filter I stated that all the other contractors stated this step was a must and he replied with he would cover both intakes and vents and shut off furnace if I wanted him to and I said yes I want all of these steps to be taken When I was away from the property, they started the sanding with intakes and vents wide open and furnace on By the time I returned that night it was already too late, the system was full of sawdust [redacted] states that he is not responsible for dust clean up and that this is clearly stated in his contract I didn't sign a contract of ***'s but if that is the case so be it This is why I strongly recommend going with another company that actually does care about the mess and the air quality they are leaving behind in your home and are willing to take simple preventative measures to avoid this.In regards to the trash, I actually have pictures of what [redacted] hauled awaytrash can bags full of sawdust and fast food wrappers and cigarette boxes and cigarette butts I am sure he just put these out in his company trash can or home trash cans Nobody would ever pay $to take lawn trash bags to the dump The flooring that he is acting like he had to take to the dump is actually still at my property as I said I would take it away I had agreed to remove the flooring only because that is what would of resulted in a trash removal chargeI will not pay [redacted] for a dump charge, but for grins I would like to see his receipt to the dump that day.In regards to the floor finish, I do stand by my accusation of coats not being applied to the floor I brought in other professionals to confirm this and do have professional opinions in writing Just to be clear, it was [redacted] ***'s "worker" that was assigned to my house who stated he was instructed by [redacted] to apply contaminated watered down polyurethane to my floor and to the floors of other customers [redacted] states that the only way to dilute oil based poly is to do it with mineral spirits and he would never do that due to the cost of mineral spirits The worker stated it was "contaminated watered down" polyurethane which could be done with mineral spirits that were already used to clean equipment This is where the contamination comes in Now I did not solicit this worker He voluntarily contacted me Again, I do have his statement in writing In ***'s response to me, he admits to withholding his worker's wages contingent on getting paid for jobs I don't think this is legal and that's not for me to decide, but this would explain why this worker grew a conscious and contacted me stating that I was right about the number of coats not being applied to my floor and that this is why it doesn't look or feel like there were coats applied. In regards to my house key, I only gave [redacted] key This was to be kept under a brick and not in anyone's pocket They took it upon themselves to look for a spare key not assigned to them and then they chose to take it without permission instead of using it to lock the door and then placing it under the brick where the key that was assigned to them was kept I am thankful I noticed this when I did [redacted] still has my house key and has refused to return it since thenAs for the bathrooms, this is someone's home Old or new, occupied or not, using the bathrooms, leaving seats up and toilet paper stuffed in toilets with urine in and around them is disrespectful and disgusting Now to my surprise, [redacted] admits to the bathroom and bath being used downstairs I voiced my concerns to ***s that his workers were overnighting in my home and I guess this confirms that There is no reason to use a bath in someone's home They had to go nosing around to even see if I had a second bathroom.I never actually complained about a color used on the floor I complained that [redacted] threw a fit and was volatile when I asked if I could look at the floors before the poly was applied to see if I wanted to add some color He kept trying to speak over me and just kept stating that I would like whatever they did I pushed this issue repeatedly and explained my furniture was all very dark and I was not sure if I would wanted to stay natural I was just beside myself at his behavior and the fact he was bullying me trying to take away my stain option that he had offered to me in the beginning.I did give [redacted] a $deposit This was to cover the cost of materials only after they were delivered to my house In his response, [redacted] states that the $did cover the $worth of lumber The extra covered the sand paper and poly There was definitely not man hours logged in my home [redacted] did ask for full payment the day after the deposit was given to him as he stated his bank account had been hacked and he needed money. As for the tools that were stolen, it was NOT just a hammer and screw driver [redacted] was contacted by [redacted] Police after the report was filed The tools that were stolen out of my empty house (only a tool box and a table in the property) were a gift to my mother from my father who has passed away The tools had great sentimental value The tools were in a closed and blocked off kitchen pantry closet The kitchen was not part of the job So [redacted] ***'s workers had to move the table to get in the closet to go snooping around to see what was In there The value was over $and the items stolen were a hammer, a level, a in screw driver, wire cutters and a large pry bar[redacted] states he wants leftover lumber back There are a couple of pieces that were left over, but didn't [redacted] state in his response that I had paid for the lumber with my deposit? It's a couple of planks. As for ***'s resolution proposal, I completely reject it I will not be paying him anymore money My case is extremely strong I have witnesses, before, during and after pictures, receipts for expenses incurred as a result of ***'s reckless actions and deceitful business practices, text messages and written statements etc If this is not resolved through the Revdex.com, I will sue [redacted] of Above Parr Hardwood Floors for my damages My damages include everything listed in my original complaint, along with the pain and suffering I have endured do to his actions that include not being able to move into my new home for at least extra months As of right now I am asking for $ If I am forced to sue, I will be adding in the pain and suffering and the damages will total around $10K plus legal fees since I will be allowed to triple them [redacted] was given my original complaint on the 6th of January and he has intentionally waited until the last allowable day to respond UNACCEPTABLE! Sincerely, [redacted]
