Above the Rest Carpet and Upholstery Care

Complaint[redacted] of "Above the Rest Flooring" went out to a rental property to remove old vinyl and relace it with new vinyl flooring. [redacted] had called me when he was picking up the material that I had already purchased and it was waiting for him at Home Depot. [redacted] also called me right before he left the job to ask where our address was so he can come pick up the money for the job he just finished for us. The time between when he called and said he was picking up the material and when he called to say that he was done with the job, was a total of 3 hours. When [redacted] made it to my home he had given me an invoice for the total amount wich included 5 hours labor on one of his charges, which of course is not relevant to the call he made before and after the job. He demanded money right away which was odd. The following day the job was examined by me and the tenant and my two sons determined was very shoddy. The metal tack strip where the carpet met the vinyl was not even there, baseboards were missing, the floor wasn't raised, as there was water damage to the floor and had sunk the floor. [redacted] had a guy come in to help him who isn't even employed at "Above the Rest Flooring" this helper had an infant with him whom was left in a car seat in the living room while work was performed according to the tenant who was home at the time. We have tried to contact [redacted] Barnes numerous time to come fix the poor job we paid him to do, and he has not answered one call nor returned any messages. We had stopped the check given to [redacted] because of abnormal etiquette and failure to get back in contact with us. Come to find out, he went straight down to Money Tree the afternoon of recieving the check and cashed it immediatly knowing he did a poor job and wasnt coming back to even atempt to fix his job I hired him to do. We are now having to deal with money tree whom is inquiring money because of this dishonest "business holder" we got tricked into writing a check out to for what we thought was businessDesired SettlementI am asking [redacted] to own up to his fraudulent behavior and go do the right thing. If he doesn't want to fix the job at least pay the money back where it is owed, money tree.
