ABS Wood Flooring Reviews (%countItem)

My husband and I run an Investment company in which we flip houses. I decided to try a new hardwood flooring company because they had sooner availability which allowed us to get the house listed sooner.
When I spoke with Aaron (owner of ABS Wood Flooring company) a month ago and asked if he would be available to take a key and work on floors during the time I was out of town (March 10-14). He said yes. Multiple times I asked him if he needed to come see the project and he replied no, and to just send pictures which we did and in detail (see screenshots).
He came by a week before we left, signed a contract to hire him for the project, verbally went over once again what we wanted done and gave him a check for half the invoice up front (to the tune of $1,150).
On 3/12/20, we hadn't heard from him so my husband messaged in our group message asking for pics and update on the floors. He sent them and said 'everything turned out great' and sent misleading pictures like the middle of the room patch job from a far distance to downplay the horrible patch job.
I responded zooming in on the pic, resent it and asked if it was with a final coat and if it blended better than what I see in pics. He assured me that wasn't the final look and he just didn't get a recent pic as it looks splotchy while wet....
The plan was to get home from vacation late Saturday night, then on Sunday morning, go check out floors to make sure work was done to the expectation we talked about and then meet up with Aaron to pay the other half of invoice and get our key back...
On the way home Saturday (3/14) afternoon he began insisting in messages to Brian and I that we send him the remainder of the invoice via PayPal or Vemmo right then knowing we hadn't returned home to see his work. I said no, we agreed payment and key would be exchanged the next day after we see the flooring.
When we arrived on Sunday (3/15) to see the floors, we were horrified (I have pics I'm happy to upload if the site will allow it). The closet in one room was completely missed, the corner area in the bedroom that was supposed to be laced in with new wood and blended with similar stain was instead, filled with wood filler with no stain over it and stuck out like an eye sore. We were billed by the way, for new laced in wood there and got filler instead. The patch job in between living room and dining room was laced in with the wrong wood, the stain was far from matching and then used wood filler in the new wood laid. Additionally, there were dark stains throughout the entire floor as if it wasn't sanded down enough. This shouldn't have been an issue given its never been refinished prior.
We called him and my husband, Brian, being the nicer person, nicely pointed out these issues. Aaron responded he missed the closet, admitted it didn't turn out the way he thought and that he didn't bring correct wood so just filled it in instead. We told him we'd like him to come back and fix it through re-sanding and that if he didn't feel the stains and filler could appear blended and done with a professional appearance, then maybe we need to pick a dark stain to coat the entire flooring so it blended.
We stated this could have been prevented had he called us after he sanded and told us of these issues, we'd have been able to talk about staining it rather than leaving it natural. Btw- his invoice was for 'sand, stain, finish coat'. He didn't stain this at all per our initial request assuming he would lay correct matching pine wood and sand stains out.
He agree to come fix it this on the following Thursday so we still meet our deadline for listing that weekend.
Two days later, to add insult to injury, he messaged us to pay him the remaining $1200 invoice before he opens a second invoice billing us more money for materials (correct wood and stain that we were already billed for initially and didn't get) since this wasn't his fault and he doing us the favor of coming back to re-sand for free!
Um WHAT? He then stopped responding to messages when we explained we were happy to pay him only the remaining of the invoice once he came back and fixed the botched floors he left the first time. After no word from Aaron for days and no showing on that Thursday, we finally had to hire an attorney to send a letter asking him to return our key immediately and then had to hire another company to come in and fix the floors. We deal with contractors on a day to day business in our line of work and never have he had such an awful experience as we've had with Aaron S @ ABS Wood Flooring.
