I am rejecting this response because:we we did talk about replacing the door with something lighterThe door was made out of wood and really heavyHe did say something about a three part door but nothing was mentioned or in the quote about two stationary and one moving doorI was envisioning two parts moving and stacking on the third when you needed a larger opening along with being made out of vinyl to make it lighter The quote we were sent didn't give us that distinction It is obvious that that is a main entry door That is why it is made foot We were absolutely not told when we were discussing the fact that the door would not work that they were not accepting responsibility for replacing the door In fact, he agreed that that door was not functional in that spot and that I had valid concerns They were told not to finish installing the door when I saw it because it was not okay an d I was told that they had to finish but it would be easy to pop this one out and put the new one in when it arrived We were told that "we would figure it out when the new door arrived and they got it installed"There was NOT any mention of us paying for both dors until the new door was finished being installed and they were ready to leave At that time, my mother paid for the new door because she had just had chemo and was in a fog, but at least had the sense to tell them to leave the other door since we had paid for it I want them to take that door back and refund us our money We have no use for that doorThat door was his mistakeIt is not functional in this house and he was told that immediately.no other agreements were reached for fixing the problem

*** The Job was to replace four doors in an existing house, all the doors were ordered to fit existing openings, several of the doors had special order glassThe Door in question was a eight foot door with one section slidingI was at the house aprox a hour when we were measuring the jobThe door in question goes out of lower level to a screened in patioThere was no disscustion of this door as a main entry door or what they needed to move in or out of itThe reason that we were given for replacing to door was that the big door was heavy and hard to slide I suggested a three section door with the middle sliding, this would be easier to moveThe proposal that they signed and have a copy of from the beginning states that the door will be a three section door with the middle section being the one that opensAt the time that they saw the door and decided that it wouldn't work we had already paid for the door and installed itThey were told that we were not excepting resposiblity for replacing the door before we ordered the replacement because we had discribed the door in our proposalThey were only charged for the cost of the door and we did the change out labor for no chargeThey kept the first door to try and sell themselves The project did take longer that we thought it wouldThis was because of one door being back orderedWe also had a early cold spell that slowed down our instalation of other projects that were schedualed before this oneWe didn't go back and finish the project untill the replacement door arrivedThis was done to be able to finish the job in one trip as this job is more than a hour drive from our shop All of this was discussed before we left the project the final time and we recieved a check for the extra before we left.Absaroka Door

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:I have no way of knowing where the weight of the door comes from. That is your job. Along with picking a door that is appropriate for the space. You walked all through that basement. You were aware that that was the only access into the basement. The door you installed was not functional for that space. Not only could the hot tub not fit through that door. Neither could the couch or the refrigerator that were right there in the room where you installed it. I'm not sure that we could get a recliner out through that door. You never should have begun installing that door. It was blatantly obvious that it was not functional for that space. There was no choice but to have the issue corrected. I stopped you the minute I saw that door. Your estimate did not have dimensions of the door on it, nor was it clear that only one section would move. When we discussed the possibility of a three section door, I pictured two parts stacking onto one which would increase the size of the opening. I relied on your expertise to help pick a door that was appropriate. It also does not negate the fact that we never agreed to pay for a replacement. It was never discussed. You installed an inappropriate door and took advantage of my Mom's state. That was not appreciated.Regards,*** ***

JayHere is my responce to ccomplaint [redacted]'This door is question is a glass sliding door. The weight of a glass door is not in the frame it is in the glass. The larger that the piece of glass is in a door the thicker the glass has to be. The weight of a three section glass door of the same size is less that a two section door of the same size. The frame  makes very little difference in total weight. The door was installed completly except for the door handle and the interior trim when they rejected the door. We went ahead and installed interior trim but did not remove, or change the interior trim of the door when the second one was installed. I did tell them that it was'nt all my fault that the door was not what they wanted because it was written up as a three section door with middle door being the opening door. It did not say anything about other parts of the door moving. Her mother did come home from chemo and went to bed , but got up in the afternoon and talked to us off and on during the afternoon about several subjects as we were finishing up. The door and what was paid was discused and I did not take advantage of someone in a fog. I did look up the date and the first complaint talked about ordering the door in June. We did start talking about this in June or July but the signed proposal and deposit was not done until the very end of August and that when the doors were ordered. There was enough info on the proposal to question the door before it was ordered if it was not exactly what they wanted. The door opening was smaller but a lot of older homes work with smaller doors and are able to get things though them by taking things apart. There is a hot tub in the basement up that wasn't brought up until the first door was installled. We did look at and measure windows when we were down there looking at the project but did not go into room with hot tub because they did not want to replace those windows.Absarka Door
