This dental organizaion refused to perform a regular preventative cleaning of my teeth

I use Assurant Dental Insurance, a prepaid plan that provides annual cleaning at little to no cost to meAssurant Dental is my assigned provider
After my first visit for repair work (a crown) I decided to begin using Absolute Dental for regular preventative careI called for an appoirntment for cleaning and was told it would cost $To my objection, their representative continued to insist that a cleaning costs $After several hours and several telephone calls to both Absolute Dental and my insurance company, I was able to determine that the representative was insisting on a "DEEP" cleaning which involves local anesthesia, is done on a per quadrant basis and is charged at $per quadrantUp until this time, she had never used the word "deep" in describing the cleaningUpon questioning the her why she didn't tell me that they could, in fact, do a regular preventative cleaning at the much lower cost, she stated that the dentist might not be willing to perform it and she didn't want to tell me about it in case they wouldn't be willing to do itI advised her that she should start providing customers complete and accurate information and conviced her to make an appointment for a regular cleaning
After I arrived at the office I immediately informed the first technician who seated me that I was there for a regular preventative cleaning and NOT a deep cleaningHe assured me that that was what I was scheduled for and there would be no problemAfter the dentist performed an exam, I was seated in the hygenist's roomShe left and after a few minutes another individual arrived and told me they would have to do a deep cleaningI declined and she left the room, then returned and stated again that they would not do a preventative cleaning and must do a deep cleaningI refused again and she left again to speak to the dentistShe returned and stated that the dentist would not agree to a regular preventative cleaningI told her our busing was finished and left
I have a recently installed artificial joint and a recent metal structure supporting my backThese can be seriously compromised by infection brought on by deep cleaning and deep cleaning must be avoided if at all possibleIf absolutely necessary the risk can be mitigated if an antibiotic is administered before the deep cleaning is performedThis information is on file with Absolute Dental as I had cautiously agreed to a deep cleaning during my earlier visit on the single quadrant where they installed my crownThey provided an antiobiotic at that time
I can understand that Absolute Dental might justify suggestiing that I have a deep cleaning, but they certainly cannot justify refusing to do the less risky preventative cleaningI belive this was nothing other than their failed attempt to coerce me into agreeing to a procedure for which they could charge a substantial amount and avoiding the procedure for which they would profit less
