Absolute Maids

Complaint[redacted]Called Absolute Maids in Moose Jaw, Sask. approx. May 16, 2013. My 90 year old mom was going out of town and I wanted to surprise her with a spring cleaning of her house. I called the maid service and was quoted $40.00 an hour and so I booked them to come out on May 22, 2013. At 10:00 a.m on that morning, 2 maids came accompanied by another woman whom I assumed was the one overlooking their work. She left them to clean well she overlooked another service at another house. On her return, 2 hours later they were still cleaning and she helped them clean the upstairs. When I reviewed what they had done and they did not do the back porch nor clean the kitchen floor well. They redid that. When it came time to issue the bill the lady wrote it up and instead of 40.00 per hour she told me it would be 40.00 per hour per maid!!! [redacted] Desired SettlementAll the settlement I am seeking is the overpayment I made for the service I received. I paid 168.00 dollars and should have only paid 84.00.Business Response I have received the above complaint, and I would like to let you know my side of the story.[redacted] I have always said its $40.00 per hour per maid,,so if you have one cleaner coming and if she was to do the work that the 3 cleaners did in 2 hours that would be 6 hours of cleaning service, it would mean that the cleaner would be there longer if there was only one person, 3 people came, one had left for 30 minutes to check on other cleaners, so we didn't even charge the lady for the girl that worked there and left.We came from Regina, did not charge her mileage, and the girls stayed for 3 hours and only charged the lady for 2 hours as the daughter was [redacted] making them do jobs over again.So we only charged her for 2 cleaners for 2 hours which is ..4 hours of cleaning times $40.00=$160.00 plus tax.[redacted]Our cleaners get paid $15.00 per hour, and their time starts from Regina, so I have to pay them to go to Moose Jaw which is almost an hour, there and backso Iam paying my employees 8.5 hours ( all together) plus their travel time..which is approx 1 hour there and back for 3 ppl that is 6 hours so the 8.5 hours plus 6 hours travel for the employees . So I am paying 14.5 hour x $15.00 per hour=$217.50 That is not even including the gas and the supplies,taxes and wcb So I have so far, paid to have cleaned in Moose jaw,,as she only paid $168.00 and just wages alone for me is $217.50,[redacted]I always tell everyone who calls its $40.00 per hour per maid,,cause each person does an hour of work, I have to pay every employee that works,,its labor standards, and the cleaners do not work for free.[redacted]I have everything at my accountants for year end right now, so I will get it as soon as the accountant is finished with my paperwork.[redacted]Thanks[redacted]Absolute Maids306-737-8087Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)On May 22, 2013 three women came to the house on[redacted] One was a supervisor and the other two were cleaners. The supervisor left shortly after I explained what I wanted completed. She had another job she had to overlook. She arrived back around 11:45 am.Addressing paragraph 2. I understand that there are expenses associated with travelling but none of that was known to me in a contract. There was no way of me knowing that the cleaners were travelling in from Regina because I used the Moose Jaw phone book and dialed the number that was listed on the ad. When I called we made arrangements to have them arrive at 10:00 am and the crew left my moms house at 12;00 noon. it was a 2 hour clean.No voice mails were left, [redacted]. [redacted] My mother was not aware of the cleaning service because it was a gift to her.[redacted]However, I never identified this home to belong to a senior and assumptions were made.If required, I have the receipt proving that I had 2 cleaners for 2 hours and can submit if requested.Business Response Good MorningI feel I have given this ladies mother a really good deal, we had cleaned her place and I hadn't charged her the full price, have spoken with the elderly lady, the mother and she was happy with the work and had no problem with the invoice.I believe, in my heart that we did all that we could do, as the company never made any money on this job and the lady of the apartment was happy, I am not sure what else I can do, I cannot give her a refund for $84.00, as it doesn't even cover the cost of the employees, I always make sure everyone knows its $40.00 per hour per cleaner and if two cleaners comes it $80 per hour,this is the first time I have had this complaint .Kind Regards, [redacted]Absolute Maids306-737-8087
