On July 11th,
2015, our technician went to the claimant’s property. He was there for quite
some time. All of the techs are required
to thoroughly diagnose any failures. The findings were that there was...
black
iron gas pipe to the nipple that connects with the tub spout. This type of pipe
should only be used for gas. Especially not to be used for a water line. The
water line should have been galvanized. No, the tech did not have the part at
the time. This isn’t a standard part they keep on their vehicles. Also being a
Saturday, the supply houses are closed. And before the tech can make any type
of repairs, the home warranty company, in this case, Old Republic, needs to be
contacted first with the tech’s report. The home warranty company decides what
is covered and what is not. Our technicians do not know what is covered or not.
Every policy holder of home warranty companies is different. We are unable to
make that call. Old Republic had been contacted. Old Republic is who denied the
claim and did not authorize us to make any kind of repairs. This is due to the
fact that this is considered an improper installation as well as being
pre-existing. Old Republic will not authorize any type of repairs due to these
reasons. The technician was on the phone, but with [redacted], the owner of Absolute,
discussing this diagnosis, not with his father. As far as the service fee goes,
that is a deductible to be paid by the policy holder. This fee is required by
Old Republic to be paid while the technician is on site.
