This is our inspectors position on this matter, and we stand by our inspector With regards, [redacted] , [redacted] Concerning the property in questionAs I understand it the claim against us by the homeowner is that we left the thermostat in the off position with no heat in the homeThe homeowner is claiming that this is the reason his pipe froze and leakedHowever as I reviewed the last email by the homeowner he states that he set the thermostat in the same position of heat in the home that he has set it in the last yearsMy question is that how can the thermostat be off as he claims it was left by us during the inspection, And be left in the same position as he set it in the last yearsUnfortunately this has turned into a he said-she said episodeIt is our position that the thermostat was not left in the off position as the inspection was concluded, thank you for your time in this matter, ***

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:the home inspectors claims are inaccurate He claimed he did not test the air conditioning system ,therefore; he could not have turned the boiler off and turned the air conditioner onThere are two identical thermostats that sit side by side, one controls air conditioning and one for the heatingDuring his inspection, the heating unit was turned off and when he returned after the completion of the inspection he incorrectly engaged the air conditioning thermostat leaving the heating thermostat in the off positionThere was a claim that the house was vacant and therefore the heat would not be set high enough in the houseI set the temperature no lower than I did for every winter night for years and I have never had a water line breakAn additional claim was made that my house is old and probably would not have insulationTrue, the house is old however the kitchen was added on in the early 2,000’s and because one of the location of the kitchen all walls and even the floor is properly insulated accompanied with a radiator that blows warm air directly to the dishwasherUnfortunately, that radiator was not running when the break occurred because the the heating thermostat was placed in the off positionLastly, my house is not made of brick which indicates to me the inspector doesn’t remember his actions the day he performed an inspection at my house Sincerely, [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:This is not a he said she said episode, this is a business not taking responsibility for their mistakeI, as previously stated, have eye witness accounts of this situationI have purchased and sold multiple homes and If this home inspection company does not take the morally and ethically correct direction of incurring this financial mistake they will never be employed by myself, my associates or anyone else in my community who ask for a reference
