Initial Business Response /* (1000, 20, 2016/06/07) */
AbsoLutes Heating & Cooling was referred by a good standing customer of mine to Mr. and Mrs. [redacted]. Mr. Suttons' wife called us in January to come take a look at their dishwasher, my secretary informed Mrs. [redacted] that we would try to be at...

the residence around four. But due the cold, people with no heat would be first priority. They never asked for a price to come out. Around four we called all the customers to informed them that we will behind schedule. Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] were okay with it and acted like they completely understood. When we finally arrived at the residence of the Suttons, Mr. [redacted] was very polite and courteous. I commence to take apart the dishwasher and found they had a bad motor. I told him I would have to get pricing for a new motor the next morning. He was okay with that, he said that he wanted it repaired. He asked what the bill would be for coming out that night, I told him that we would settle up the next day, because he did say he wanted it repaired and it was getting late. My secretary called Mrs. [redacted] the next day and gave her the cost for the part. She said she needed to call her husband. The next day, the husband called me and told me that if I sent him a bill, that he will do everything in his power to destroy my business, he then informed me that he owned his cars and house. I tried to get him to calm down and informed him that we did diagnose his dishwasher and the diagnosis fee was $78 if we don't do the repairs. He obviously knew that there would be a cost, he wanted to settle up that night. He then informed me that he shouldn't have to pay it because we were late. I then told him, that people with no heat has priority over people who don't have a dishwasher. he then mention that I promote that I give free estimates. I then told him that AbsoLutes Heating & Cooling does not associate with the company who says we do free estimates and the free estimates are for installations and not service calls.
We at AbsoLutes Heating & Cooling can not stay in business driving to everyones homes and diagnose all the appliances at the residence for free. Its just not possible. We feel as though we have the lowest rates and greatest deals for diagnosis fee. We at AbsoLutes thrive to make our customers satisfied no matter how big or small the job is. But no matter what we do, we can not satify Mr. [redacted].
Now I will rebuttal what Mr. [redacted] Claims:
It was his wife who called, not him. He was never informed of a free estimate for diagnosis. My secretary called his wife, NOT Mr. [redacted]. says he talked to me about getting a new one. But he never talked to me or my secretary. My secretary talked to his wife. Mr. [redacted] says he received a bill for an estimate fee. It Clearly says Diagnosis Fee. Our collection program automatically adds late fees. I did inform Mr. [redacted] that it was important to pay this so it would not collect late fees. I do not know why Mr. [redacted] felt intimidated by me, I was very polite and respondent to his issues. ::
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 22, 2016/06/09) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
There are a variety of errors within their version of the events, as well as grammatical errors that make it difficult to read. However, I stand by two points. They have no paper documentation that I was told or acknowledged that I would be charged for a diagnosis fee. In addition, their website clearly says "free estimates." When I brought this to their attention, they will claim that this only applies to certain services. That may be, but that is not what is advertised on their website. Lastly, I was the individual that called in January and not my wife. I asked if there was a diagnosis fee and was told no. I believe they are attempting to charge me because they came out so late due to them running behind schedule. I'm at a loss on how and why they are trying to do this. They visited my home in January and I didn't receive this bill until April. They have threatened me with late fees and even to physically attack me on the phone while screaming "I don't work for free." I am literally to the point I am scared of this gentleman and simply want this situation to go away.
