We are aware of the customers dis-satisfactionWe contracted the work on 4-19-and it was installed on 5-31-We then received a call and went back to the home on 6-9-and determined that there was nothing wrong with the installOur system is a subfloor drainage system with
a flange that does stick up out of the floorIn most cases it will rest along the straight edge of the foundation wallIf the foundation wall is NOT straight, as in if the wall was, say a stone foundation it will appear cosmetically different than the brochure looksHowever it by no means compromises the systemWe have had an extreme amount of rain this year and the system has NOT failedWe are again going to the property today 7-18-with the original project manager, production manager, and the Vice-President of the company to help resolve this issue

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Mr*** visited our home Saturday, February 24. We went through everything that had transpired with our driveway. Ultimately, we all agreed that ABT would replace the bottom squares of our driveway and repair the original drill holes from the jacking. Some are currently chipping out. In exchange we will forego pursuing the other issues in our complaint. According to the email confirmation (copy attached) from *** *** the work should be completed by July 1, 2018.

We have called and left a message in regards to visiting the property and to come up with some sort of resolution. This isn't going to be resolved by spring. The concern from the homeowner is that the driveway was indeed heaving as opposed to sinking. With that being a concern we would like to see the driveway once the frost is gone as well as the spring thaw to ensure the actual issue is addressed. This message was left on a voicemail 2/21/18

We are in contact with this customer to try to come up with a resolution. As you can see we have been involved with any and all issues up to this point. Our contract does state that we are NOT responsible for the items that she is asking, however we are still working with them to help satisfy this...

issue.

We do apologize for any miscommunication in this complaint! However it is never ABTs responsibility to have electrical hooked up for a sump install. We did just that, installed the sump and crock. We are not electricians. If it would have been agreed on for ABT to sub-out the electrical work upfront...

then we would have done so at an additional cost. Same as any other project. We also did find an electrician for this customer and I do believe as of this complaint it has already been hooked up for the customer and we agreed to pay $75.00 towards this matter for any miscommunication!

We were indeed contacted on June 3rd twice by ABT. The first time was at 9:15 AM stating they were currently waiting to get a call from the scheduler on what day the blacktopping will be completed. She stated that if they were not contacted back she would contact them each hour until contact was made. At 12:25 PM we were contacted the second time. This time it was stated the blacktopping was going to be completed Friday 6/5/15 if there was no rain. If there was rain then we would be called that same day (Friday) to let us know what day next week it would be completed. Neither has been done yet. There was no rain on Friday and the blacktopping was not done AND there was no call as of yet (Monday 8:08 AM) as to what day it will be this week.by [redacted] on 6/8/2015Our blacktopping was finally completed mid-day on 6/8/15. I would like to add that job performed by ABT is still working well and it is unfortunate that the third party they used made the completion take longer than necessary.by [redacted] on 6/9/2015

We have fulfilled our contract in this project. We cannot control the weather nor what it does to the landscape! This was one of the coldest-longest winters in over 3 decades. As you can see and as she agrees we have been back multiple times moving dirt around to make sure it is to grade trying to...

help satisfy this customer! We should not be responsible for the existing landscape/schrubs as it clearly states in our written agreement. We really do feel that this customer is being unruly and will not be satisfied. We do apologize for the way she feels but, we have done everything that we are obligated to do plus some.
Hope All Is Well
[redacted]

We will re-issue another check once we have received the first check back. It was not our intent to dis-regard all or any warranty in regards to our foundation work performed! It was to release us of all and any liability retaining to this complaint.
Please send check to [redacted]

We have been in contact as of this morning and afternoon to make sure this is handled correctly. We really do care about our customers and do understand the frustration this has presented. It is unfortunate that we do have a third party, which we did agree to take care of involved and causing such a...

mishap. We really do want this project off of our spring work board as much as this customer wants it done. It has been an odd year for weather which does affect some construction projects. The work ABT has done is still functioning correctly. We will continue to follow-up with this customer until the job is done! We really do appreciate the business and the relationship we have with this customer.

Review: I’m an almost [redacted] living on Social Security income. In good faith, I paid ABT $35,630.00 to repair the foundation of my home. In retrospect, I should have withheld at least $5,000 until the job was finished. This project was supposed to take two weeks (Oct. 21st to Nov. 6). Instead they were at my home from Oct. 25th to Nov. 18th, leaving without completing the project. It is now 9 months later and the project has still not been completed.

October, 2013: Two men came on Oct. 25 and removed the landscape stone and brick. Then they left. ABT returned on Oct. 28 and were here on and off until Nov. 18th. I was told by the project foreman, [redacted], that ABT would be back in spring to finish the job. It is now 9 months since this job was started and still is not complete. I have attempted to contact ABT and it seems they have no desire to finish the job they started! Not only have they not replaced the soil to grade but according to the contract they were to remove and reinstall my shrubs. I know they did not guarantee the shrubs survival but because they neglected to reinstall the shrubs there was no chance that they would survive. I consider the lack of soil replacement and ABT not reinstalling the shrubs in 2/3 weeks as a breach of contract. I have attached a copy of a letter to ABT that was attached to a survey they left with me. Also I have listed below the timeline of my attempts this spring to have ABT finish this project.

Spring timeline –

I received a call from [redacted] in early May. Told me a crew would be at my house on May 16 to remove the stone and replace the top soil to grade.

May 16: A crew arrived at 2:30. [redacted] looked at all that had to be done and determined that it would take more than 2 hrs. to accomplish the work. They sat here with their equipment and then I was told that their equipment had broken down and they would have to come back.

May 19: 3 men arrived and spent about 2 hours working on the mortar between the basement block wall both inside and outside. Told me a crew would be back to finish replacing the top soil to grade and reseeding the area.

June 6: As three weeks had gone by with no word from ABT, I called and spoke with [redacted]. She sent a crew out that arrived about 1:30pm. They proceeded to remove about 12 inches of stone and put in some top soil (this was not good top soil, it was full of stones!). I had to leave because my brother was in critical condition at St. E’s. [redacted] told me as I was leaving that they had run short of the top soil needed and would be back.

June 9: Called [redacted] at ABT regarding when they would be finishing with the top soil and reseeding. Also asked when they would be reconnecting my AC. [redacted] said that the AC would be reconnected “either today or tomorrow”. Top soil on June 19.

June 13: AC reconnected

June 19: ABT truck with 2 men arrived, threw a little top soil on a couple of bare spots and left. Soil replacement still not up to grade!

June 30: Tel. call to [redacted]. Did not return my call.

July 1: Tel. call to [redacted] at ABT. She promised to find out when they would be coming back to finish replacing the top soil, etc. She would return the call in the afternoon. Did not return the call.

July 8: Tel. call to [redacted] at ABT. She said they were scheduled to be here on Fri. (Jul. 11). Half an hour later, a truck with 2 men and a load of top soil arrived. They did not do any work because we had a little rain shower. They left and didn’t return.

July 15: Tel. call from [redacted]. We had a long conversation. I told him that they had removed all the soil from around the home and that I expected them to replace it. When they initially removed the soil, they left it on my front yard for 3 weeks and hauled it away the last day they were here in Nov. Instead the area around my house was backfilled with stone. I also told [redacted] that I expected some compensation for the loss of 8 of the 9 shrubs they neglected to reinstall as contracted. He was going to send a crew here on Fri. the 18th. However that was my brother’s funeral and I was not going to be home. He then promised to send a crew to finish replacing the top soil and reseed the area on July 25.

July 25: ABT did not show up again and failed to inform me by telephone why or when they intended to finish the job.

March 24, 2014

ABT –

I have delayed filling out the attached survey because the job is not officially finished!

I was told this job would take 2 weeks. The crew was here for 3 weeks and left without completely finishing the project. [redacted] told me that ABT would be back in the spring to finish backfilling with top soil, etc. “You’re at the top of the list.”

My shrubs were supposed to be removed and reinstalled. However, I was told on 11/18/13 that ABT had no top soil to replace the soil that was removed. As a result, the shrubs were out of the ground not only for 3 weeks but the entire severe winter! [redacted] had told me earlier that day that he would get some top soil and put the shrubs in some containers. I provided some containers but the crew just threw the shrubs in the containers without any top soil. The two biggest shrubs were just left lying on the ground with exposed roots! My daughter, grandson and I purchased some top soil from [redacted] and did put some top soil in the containers. There was nothing we could do for one of the big shrubs. It will be a miracle if these shrubs survive. I know the contract said that ABT was not responsible for survival. But I think the treatment of these shrubs was negligence. It was not my fault that these shrubs were not reinstalled in a timely manner as contracted.

The repair work on the three piers inside the basement was very sloppy and uneven as well as the repair of the block wall both inside and outside of the foundation. There was also a very sloppy job of cleaning up the mud tracked in both the basement and the garage.

Over the weekend of Nov. 15-17, I called both cell phone numbers and office numbers trying to find out why there was a terrible odor coming from the basement. This odor was so strong that it gave anyone who entered the home a terrible headache. I was sick the whole weekend because of the odor and even though it was a very cold weekend, I had to keep windows open to provide some ventilation and try to reduce the strength of the odor. I never received a return call from anyone.

I was told by [redacted] that they would only excavate about 3 ft. from the foundation and that they wouldn’t be messing up the rest of the lawn, but the equipment was running over the entire lawn creating an uneven lawn. Now they have to come back with the heavy equipment to remove some stone and backfill with top soil. I shudder to think of what my lawn is going to end up looking like!

The AC could not be reinstalled because 1) Top soil needs to be replaced where the AC is located, and 2) at this point, the area where the AC is to be placed is not filled to grade.

As you can see from the above, at this point, I am not very happy with this uncompleted, almost $36,000.00 job.

I have pictures of my home taken in 1965 when we built this home. It shows the original grade of the lawn. I also have pictures of what my lawn looks like after ABT left without finishing the job.Desired Settlement: I would like ABT to finish the job and/or compensate me for the loss of my shrubs. If ABT does not want to finish this project, they should refund $4,000.00 of the fee I paid them so I can contact a landscape company to finish this job for me and as compensation for the loss of my shrubs.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: In Apr., 2014, after heavy rains, water began to pour into our basement from a crawl space that had previously been encapsulated by ABT in 2013. Once again we called them and were advised that a sump pump and drain tile were needed to correct the problem. In addition to the $4200.00 already paid for the encapsulation, we contracted and paid $1760.00 for "48 ft of draintile and one Dry Right Sump System11." When he finished, I asked the installer when the electrical work would be done to make the system operable. His response: "I guess you'll have to run an extension cord." No mention was made that electrical was not included in the installation, nor is there any notation in the contract that I would be responsible for electrical hookup. I assumed that "installed" meant the system would actually work. I have called at least a dozen times and have been passed from person to person until someone promises to look into it, but no one ever calls back. This has been ongoing for several weeks and I feel I am being stonewalled by ABT and their staff and that they are expecting me to pay for their failure to fulfill their contract.Desired Settlement: Electrical hookup to satisfy building code.

After several weeks of unsuccessful attempts to get any responsible response from ABT, I received a call immediately after they were contacted by the Revdex.com. A very pleasant electrician from YOURR Electrician arrived within a few hours and completed the hookup. The cost was $90.00, of which we paid half. [redacted]">Regards,

Had ABT install a beam system to fix the cracks in my basement; March 19th, crew came out somewhat late, first thing they asked for was for money. I refused to pay the workers cash as I did not know if they were sub-contractors, or not, so made payment arrangements with the office, which I would later regret setting up payment until I saw the work done first hand.
Work seemed to be going smoothly, briefly left the house, only to return to a loud high-pitched noise from the door bell, which the workers must have knocked a wire loose or damaged the system during installation of the beams. Also noticed a electrical conduit that is running to the fuse box was ripped off the wall and bent to allow for a beam to be installed, with no attempt to secure it somewhere else, it just hangs there freely now.
I was promised and told by the sales person who wrote up the contract that there would be a final walk-through upon completion, and we would sign off once we were satisfied...we had no walk-through with anyone.
Did my own walk-through, and noticed various issues with quality, specifically on the beams that were welded together. Bad looking welds, and porosity filled welds throughout the majority of the beams that were installed. Porosity is a defect, that could lead to cracking of the weld holding the beam together with the joist.
Project manager came out, took photos and said he would determine what they would do.
1 week later, had not head from them, called up and were told they would not fix it, did not see it as a major issue, and sold it as not being a problem.
Asked that they simply come out, grind out the welds, and re-weld them, but was told they don't have the equipment for that, but if I hire a person (at my expense) to rip out the beams, re-weld them, they would come out and re-install them (assuming I would also have to pay for the re-installation). They could easily rent equipment to fix it themselves, but they would rather pass that onto the customer to fix there bad work. Again, there suggestion was I pay someone out of my own pocket, to fix there bad quality work if I wasn't happy. How on earth is it right for a customer to pay for there screw-up that they won't even admit to being a screw-up.

We are very pleased with every aspect of the job that ABT did on our basement. The work is excellent and the presence and character of the two young men that did the job was refreshing and top notch. They received and addressed any questions we had with grace and professionalism. The were willing to go the extra mile to do a really good job. Installation and clean up were both very well done and our overall experience excellent. If the result of a dry basement matches the quality of work the job will be perfect!!
Highly recommend.

Review: We are a [redacted] and signed on for a job to be completed at our location. The main bulk of what we have needed done was performed when stated. One thing remains yet and that is for our blacktop to be replaced. Per our contract it states that 'ABT to bust, remove and replace blacktop'. This job was performed end of January and we were told the blacktop would be completed in Spring and we would be contacted to schedule. I called 3/31/15 left message asking when we can anticipate this being completed in case we need to be closed for patients. After no answer called again 4/2/15 and was told to leave message for our job supervisor leaving same message as before. Called yet again after no return call on 4/8/15 and was told by our job supervisor that we would be contacted end of April when who they were contracting the blacktopping to was open and proposing they would complete. No Call Back. I called 5/5/15 and was told by a supervisor they were currently speaking with who they contracting with to blacktop and I would receive a call letting me know when scheduled, I reminded Fridays better as no patients in office. Message left on our machine later that day from this same supervisor that he will be letting us know what Friday it will be coming up. No call. I called 5/20/15 and spoke with woman who answered phone, she stated they are waiting for the blacktop company to start, had no info for me and I could call the company they were contracting to do it. Was given the name of the company and number to contact them. I did so call who I was referred to call by ABT and was told they DID start already. I contacted ABT back and stated what I was told that they HAVE started. At that time, I was told ABT was looking into other contractors to complete the job. On 5/29/15 a message was left that the original contractor stated they had us scheduled but was not releasing to them the date and the job was too small for a different contractor they had tried. They were currently waiting for a call back from another blacktop company. Called 6/2/15 and forwarded to job supervisor and told no luck contacting other companies and waiting for their original contractor to start. I explained again how I contacted them already 5/20/15 and was told they had started. He is contacting them again and promised a call back by tomorrow morning. We just want this completed as we have elderly patients, some with canes/walkers and it is VERY difficult for them to walk on the stone that was laid down, making it an enormous liability issue with patients as discussed with ABT. We were told Spring, it is now Summer... It is a small area needed to be completed and it is as though it is not important. ABT received their entire contracted price of over $11,000.00 in January when asked when job was not even completed yet. Maybe if there was a balance left ABT would be quicker to complete their obligations to a paying customer. We do not want any more excuses, we want the job finished. I have been told two times now from ABT that blacktopping has not started with whom they are contracting to do it and I called and received verbal confirmation, per their request, over two weeks ago from their own contractor that they have. I did relay this to ABT twice now. FINISH THE JOB or give us the cost of paying someone else to finish your job. *all contact/company names have not been added per Revdex.com requestDesired Settlement: We do not want any more excuses, we want the job finished. About 7 years ago we had a water problem in our basement, the water was leaking in from the foundation. We had ABT give us an estimate to fix this problem. The sales person came out and told us that because of the iron ochre problem in our area that we would have to have our drain tile replaced and have a second sump pit put in too elimate this problem. He also stated that to have the job done correctly that we would need to remove the steps to the basement, which we did. When the workers came out to do the repairs they wanted to know how they were to get into the basement, we told them that we were told too remove the stairs by the salesperson. When the work was finished the foreman of the job stated that we would need to flush the system twice a year with hot water. When asked how we should flush the system he stated to put a hose from the water heater into each of the inspection ports that were installed which we did. The system worked for 5 years before we started having water issues again. We called ABT up again and they sent out a service tech to check the system and he looked at it and stated that the somehow the flow of the water table had changed. He also found a piece of metal in our drain tile and asked why we had put metal in the drain tile. I stated at that time we didn't put anything in the drain tiles all we have been doing is flushing the tiles with hot water twice a year as directed. The service tech took a small piece of the metal and also stated that they would get back to us with an answer which never happened. They send out a crew to flush our tiles the same way that we were doing, at this time the crew foreman stated that our sump pit needed holes drilled in it to allow more water to flow into the pit faster which they did. This worked for a couple of months before we started having water problems again. We dealt with this for another year before calling ABT again. This time the service tech stated that the water was following sufficiently through the system but we would need more drain tiles installed in the basement. At this point we called for second opinion from a different contracter and they came out and stated that we just needed to have the drain tiles power flushed. At this time we hired them to come out and do this, while they were doing this job they stated that their was metal throughout the entire system and were wondering why someone would put metal into the drain tiles when a person has an iron ochre problem. They pulled all the metal out of the drain tiles and preceded with the power flushing of the system. They also stated that the only true way to flush the system is with a power flushing system otherwise we are just adding water to our problem. We have had a couple of rain storms go through since this has been done with no problems. If ABT wants the metal back from their system they can have it. My recommendation to anyone considering ABT to get a second opinion before signing anything with them.

I got estimates from 5 basement repair businesses. From the description of the brochure I went with ABT because there system would have minimal banking I was told if any. While knocking out the floor they hit my main water line coming into the house which I was told I was responsible for. That was $1195 dollars for a licensed plumber to fix. I was responsible because in the fine print I was suppose to disclose where the buried lines were. I said you don't carry insurance for this and if they would have told me I would have called diggers hot line which is FREE... After telling him they should have told me and where was I to come up with $1195 dollars before the plumber would fix it they paid half. I then had two floor drains filled in and a sump pump moved and the floor was supposed to be leveled out where drains were. After work was completed the drains still have dips in the floor and weren't leveled out. The system put in has banking of an 1 1/2" on two walls. I called and they sent out a different foreman Todd and he couldn't explain why the other foreman Rodrigo did it the way he did. I said is it because they didn't pitch it right from the sump pump back and he said well it happens and he left. So I called 6 more times getting voice mails and finally the office manager Dave and another foreman came out. I showed them my contract on what was to be done, showed them the brochure on what I was told and how badly pitch their system was. He said it just rained 4" did your basement get wet. What are you a perfectionist? I said how am I to finish this off and he said it is what it is. I said this is how you treat your costumers. And again he said the system is doing what it is suppose to right your basement didn't get wet right. He and his foreman smuggley walked out the door and left. I will never give ABT service again and will tell as many people as I can on how bad the workmanship was and how they treated me as a customer. Very Very Disappointed Perfectionist as they say.

We have had 2 jobs done by ABT and had nothing but good experiences with them. They had to dig up the corner of our house to waterproof the outside and found the drain tile was not done correctly when the house was built. This was a Friday and they stayed until 7pm to make sure that the new drain tile was installed and working so we would not have to go through the weekend and possibly get water in the house. We had another area that had been waterproofed by ABT years ago prior to us even buying the house. There was an area that was not part of the original area they had worked on that had a small slow leak. They came out and fixed the entire area free of charge. They said it was covered under the warranty. They could have charged us and we would have had no idea, we had no idea any work had been done there prior. Their workers have always been courteous, prompt, and professional. Whenever we have called with a question or issue they have been prompt at addressing it and answering our questions. All systems they have installed have worked and kept our basement dry to date. They even take the time to answer questions from our kids. Cannot say enough good things. We have recommended them to several people.
