Aburi Roofing

I hired this roofer contractor approximately three months ago. To put a roof on my house at 2030 Pier a Street Florida. He was given one check with the promise of getting the permit immediately.

Hollywood Florida has been excepting permits through Coviid. *** Owner operator of this company never applied for a permit.
He came back for a second check and I told him do not cash it until I see the permit. I am a senior citizen I have no hurricane insurance on my house anymore because he left me with a partial tear down (no permit). I have notified state agencies that he has taken over five or $6000 from me and has never returned never brought any materials and never applied for a permit. He was sent certified mail by me personally by my assistant and buy my family members to all known physical addresses including the one listed here. The department of business and professional regulation has been notified and they are going to bring him into account. I don't know what penalties if any he will receive but essentially he's a person who highly took advantage of an elderly person taking two checks been instructed not to cash the second until he got the permit and been told with the first check to apply. We have dozens of emails to him and return receipts of correspondence. He should receive the lowest possible rating in any professional organization and I'm hopeful the state who gives him his license does something about the situation so he does not do this to anyone else. It is now June 26 and I am having another roofer put a roof on this house my home has been without insurance for over three months because of this company putting me at risk of losing my retirement because my retirement is tied into the house

Consumer warning: Aburi Roofing and *** will take your money and not do the repair. On May 20, 2020 *** and I signed a contract for specific roof repairs, and I delivered the deposit check of $2,000 to him the next day. He cashed my check within minutes of receiving. The repairs were:
1. Change all rotten sheets of plywood
2. Change all rotten facia
3. Re-nail roof decking with 2 1/2 rink shank nails as per Florida building code
4. Furnish and install 30# ASTM organic felt paper over decking with1 ¼ inch ring shank nails and tin tag
5. Install 70 pound felt in flat roof area
6. Furnish and install 3" X 3" drip edge
7. Furnish and install lead plumbing stacks as applicable
8. Furnish and install self-adhesive underlayment over 30# felt contract to fix some leaks on my roof.

Each day after May 20, for about 5 days, I had to chase *** to do the work. Every day he said he was "mobilizing his crews and would be there shortly." After 5 days, an unlicensed roofer showed up, and supposedly fixed the roof. Next rain, the leaks continued. None of the work contracted was done. None, zero, zip, nada. Not sure what the unlicensed roofer did, but it was close to nothing, and definitely nothing listed in the contract.

More torrential rain came after a few days and most of the leaks came back in full force. *** told me for 12 days since the "repair", he was mobilizing his crews to come fix the rest. It has never happened. In summary, no work contracted was ever done and *** has lied the entire time about both the original repairs and then the subsequent fixes.

I will be suing *** and filing a report on his GC license. In the interim, to my fellow homeowners, definitely do not do business with Aburi LLC or ***.
