Review: On 1/27/2012 I purchased a 2002 Chrysler Sebring from AC Auto Sales by check for $4,218.50. Prior to closing the deal I noticed that the Inspection Sticker was about to expire. I informed [redacted]/ Sales Rep. that I was starting a new job and did not want to take any time off of my new position to have to go and get the car inspected.
At that time [redacted] removed the sticker from the windshield and placed a new sticker on dated for December 2013. The check engine light was on and [redacted] referred me to the Gulf Gas & Service Station they deal with to take the care over and they would have the light reset. I did as instructed and the mechanic was able to purge the system and put the light out only to have it come back on during my initial drive home. I contacted [redacted] and informed him of situation and he set up another appointment. At that time the mechanic informed and assured me that at the time of my next inspection bring the car back and they could guarantee a pass. I accepted his word and took the car home. On 11/05/2013 I was stopped by an Officer of the [redacted] Borough.....He informed me that my Inspection Sticker was a fraudulent sticker. I explained that according to the sticker placed on the vehicle by AC Auto Sales, I was due to have the inspection next month December 2013. At the time of the stop the Police Officer issued me a traffic citation for Failure to Inspect and a $130.00 fine and removed the sticker. Additionally, he informed me that he was cutting me a break and I could have been arrested and charged with a Misdemeanor for a Fraudulent Sticker with fines starting at $500.00 dollars. May I add that I have never been arrested for any criminal violation. As per the Officer's instructions I drove directly to the DMV Inspection station where I received a report from the Technician after explaining my situation. The report stated that the last time the car was inspected was 11/5/2009 and should have been due for inspection 11/30/2011. To date the car is now inspected with a new inspection for 02/2015Desired Settlement: I want the dealership to accept responsibility for there actions with a letter stating that it was because of their deceptive practices that I became a victim of unnecessary Police action.
I should not have to pay the fine or have this reflected on my record. It is not the $130.00 fine. This is a matter of principal.
