A.C. Lawrence & Company Reviews (1)
I am writing to request a full reimbursement of the $3100 security deposit and $600 in credit check fees we ([redacted] and [redacted]) paid to A.C. [redacted] for the apartment located on [redacted]. Despite clear communication from the landlord, [redacted], which included a signed note saying the move-in date had to be April ** and was non-negotiable, we were actively misled to believe the landlord was flexible and a later move-in date could be negotiated. My roommates and I should have been fully aware of this information prior to paying the security deposit and credit check fees, but were not. Such a big financial loss has been especially hard since we are college students living on a budget, and this is an unacceptable protocol. To recap:April **: [redacted] (the broker) and the landlord, [redacted], signed a document indicating [redacted]'s acknowledgment that a lease starting date of April [redacted] was non-negotiable, and that this date was confirmed with us, which it was not. April **: I have an email from [redacted] stating that she "hand-delivered the deposit" ($500), with no mention of the non-negotiable immediate move in. April **: We paid the above mentioned money totaling $3700, which we would not have paid had we known this apartment was no longer feasible. April **: On the day before the lease signing and four days after [redacted] knew the lease start date had to be April **, we were finally informed via phone call. But we had already paid $3700 by this point. We should have been given the information before.
