ACA Construction Reviews (3)

Review: My husband and I bought a new home in May of 2013. We were referred to ACA Construction by an aquaintence. We did our research and saw that this business was Revdex.com acredited. Little did we know that the owner went by his middle name and had we researched him by his legal first name, we would have seen the court dockets and complaints filed against him under a DIFFERENT business name. Long story short, [redacted] took our down payment and never once set foot in our house to do the work on our house. We were on a very tight deadline because the lease on our townhouse was up July 1 and we had to be out of there by then. Also, we had limited time to paint the house and have furniture delivered. Every single day, [redacted] had some excuse as to why he could not start the work. Hospital, illness, needed to drive his wife somewhere, you name it. Finally, my husband and I said if you are not in our house doing work in one week, we are terminating you. That week came and went, and of course, no sight of [redacted]. We then sent him a notorized letter (which we drove past his place of "business" and it is literally an RV with a mailbox propped against the front) asking for our keys to be turned over and our down payment refunded in the form of cash or money order, NO PERSONAL CHECKS. It took weeks to get a response. After threatening to go to the borough to file a small claim, he put a check in our mailbox with a note saying not to cash the check until next week. My husband and I were not satisfied with that. [redacted] then called us and asked us not to cash the check and he will meet us to deliver our downpayment refund in cash. I can only assume he wrote us a bad check. We did eventually get our money, but only after months of daily calls and threatening legal action.Desired Settlement: We already received our money and do not want any type of compensation. We would NEVER have used ACA Construction had he not had a Revdex.com approval. This man has opened and closed several businesses after being reported to the Revdex.com. He is a professional swindler and has had numerous arrests and lawsuits in his history for what he did to my husband and I. I very much hope that the Revdex.com never ever endorses this man and ANY business of his ever again.

Review: I contacted ACA Construction to install a deck and a fence on my new home. [redacted] came to my home and gave me an estimate. On June 28, 2013 he came to my home and we signed a contract for the work. He told me he needed the cost of the fence to be paid which he said he had already ordered. We paid him $3,436.65. He said the fence would be delivered in a couple of weeks and that he would be here to put it in. He said we would get the deck supplies also at that time. Weeks past I asked why the fence was not delivered and he responded that he wanted to wait till he could be here for the delivery. I have been calling and text messaging him about getting this work done since then it has been almost 4 months since we gave him the money and have not had any work completed or the fence delivered. Every time I call he tells me he is a man of his word and he needs to finish the job he is working on to be able to start on my job. 10 days ago he apparently called the building inspector for a inspection of the footers for the deck and the inspector came out to inspect however no footer was ever dug. I have contacted him since and have gotten no response. When I originally looked at his profile on the Revdex.com site he had an A+ rating now he has no rating. I have since been made aware that he had a previous company that he ripped people off from called Berkich Home Improvement. At this point I have asked him for a refund and received no response. I would like my money back.Thank you,[redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like a refund and I would like for him to be shut down so no one else gets ripped off by this man [redacted]

Review: We met [redacted] the owner of ACA Construction in November of 2012. He gave us an estimate for a new front porch. We agreed to have him build it for us and he indicated it would be done within 2 weeks per our request to have it ready for Thanksgiving. We made a down payment to him to secure his services. No work was started at our home until October of 2013. In the meantime Mr. [redacted] delayed us with many different excuses, lied to us numerous times, gave us numerous letters indicating when he would finish our job which he never made the deadline, that he would refund our down payment, and that he would complete the job at no cost to us. In October of this year he started work without a permit at our home, even though he told us he had secured a permit in December of 2012. Then, after being cited by the borough, he did finally obtain a permit, but because he had started work without it the borough determined the work he had already done to be out of code and he would have to re-do it. He worked sparingly over the next few weeks and completed the deck of the front porch over the course of approximately a month. In November 2013 he assured us the porch would be 100% complete prior to Thanksgiving. A week before Thanksgiving he changed his story and told us he'd at least have steps and a railing on by Thanksgiving. By the time Thanksgiving came nothing had changed and my wife's Grandfather fell in the yard trying to climb the hill leading to our home since no one can use the front entrance anymore. After thanksgiving he assured us he would have steps and a railing completed before the upcoming holiday with the roof soon to follow, neither happened. After the holiday season Mr. [redacted] stopped returning our calls and has not made any contact with us since. My home can now not be accessed from the front door, and I am still out the money for my down payment. Mr. [redacted] did experience some medical issues which sidelined him for a few months in the middle of 2013 and we were very patient and understanding throughout that period, but we have lost all hope of him completing this project now.Desired Settlement: We want our down payment refund per the letter he signed indicating he would refund the payment and we want the porch completed at no cost to us per the letter he signed indicating he would complete the porch at no cost to us. If he refuses to complete the project we are investigating all legal avenues to recoup our losses including the down payment, interest, and the cost of having the project finished.
