Review: Hired [redacted] ([redacted]) as a live (singer/keyboard) performer for our July wedding reception via ACA Music and Entertainment, Brookfield, WI. Contract for $250 was signed, performance to be 7-4-13 time: 4-7pm at venue. $50 deposit to ACA, Balance due on or before 7-4-13. Bridal party arrived at approx. 5:45pm after wedding pictures were taken on 7-4-13. Man standing against wall at venue came over and introduced himself as [redacted]. Somehow [redacted] mentioned he had not been performing since his arrival but had put on background music instead. We told [redacted], no he was suppose to be performing. At 6pm he then began his live performance. He was contracted until 7pm. [redacted] was still playing after 7pm (7:20pm) the groom went over to [redacted] and gave him his cashier's check as a way of saying you are done. [redacted] was now in our DJ paid timeframe of 7-9pm and could not begin until [redacted] was gone. We left the situation at that as it was our wedding and we needed to move on to our guests. When asked why [redacted] did not play at 4pm the next day or so, we were told that [redacted] did not see the bride and groom and did not know what to do. [redacted] was confused and asked the woman at the guestbook table if he should play. Her opinion was that she didn't think it was appropriate, So [redacted] did not play. We definitely have an issue with [redacted] asking anyone but us who had hired him what to do. The guestbook person, bartender or waiters would not have known of our contract as it was between the bride, groom, ACA and [redacted]. We never received an answer when asked why [redacted] did not call us or even if he did not have the cell numbers, ask the venue whom we had contracted with, what our phone numbers were. We trusted [redacted] as a professional to perform his contracted time of 4-7pm. The venue had offered us on several occasions free background music for our appetizer and dinner hours 4-7pm, but we had wanted specifically a live performance, thus hiring [redacted]. We went around and around with ACA and was told there will be no restitution between us and either ACA or [redacted]. We feel we need to forewarn others before hiring entertainment from ACA. ACA requires either cash or cashier's check only for payment. There was no time in which we could have put a stop payment on the check to [redacted]. The other question is why did [redacted] continue to play into our DJ's timeframe? If [redacted] was confused once again, could he not have walked over several feet to our head table and asked us if he should stop at 7pm like the contract stated? Contract was 4-7pm for a live performer period.
