Dear Revdex.com,In response to ID : [redacted] First and foremost, the charge the patient has received a statement for is not from Acaci OB/GYN but rather the laboratory her specimen was submitted toI would like to express that all staff is aware that when we have a self-pay patient, they know any specimens collected are separate from the physicians charges, as this goes to the laboratory, which is a separate entity from Acacia OB/GYNThis is always relayed to the patients when they are scheduling their appointments and given pricesThe patient complaint states that we " charged for an additional pa smear"This is not the case, only one pap smear was billed out along with the STD testing, which we also make patients aware ofGenerally, STD checks are recommended for a woman of a certain child bearing, sexually active lifestyles but even then this is brought to the patient's attention twice before any specimen is collectedOnce, when the patient is being triaged, she will be given the option if she would like to opt out of the STD testing and just remain with routine examination and secondly, in the exam room, the patient is told by the physicianI would also like to make clear that we did not order nor perform any "labwork" for the patient as the letter statesLabwork would refer to bloodwork or blood analysis the patient might have got., which this was not the caseI think this might have just been confusions with the pap smearFurthermore, on 4-20-at 2:10pm one of our receptionist took a call from the patient regarding this matterIt seems after an explanation was given to the patient she understoodAnd we were then confused as to why then the patient took months to file a complaint after that initial call on 4-20-We also have on file signed consents that patient signed in regards to financial obligation and consent for treatmentIn conclusion, for the reasons listed above is why we feel we should not have to cover these laboratory fees, which as explained, are a separate fee(s) from our practiceWe have also attached the patient case received 4-20-in regards to this matterPlease feel free to contact us at [redacted] for any further questions [redacted] , Practice SupervisorAcacia OB/GYN SchertzIH North, Suite 260Schertz, Texas

Dear Revdex.com,In response to ID :[redacted] First and foremost, the charge the patient has received a statement for is not from Acaci OB/GYN but rather the laboratory her specimen was submitted to. I would like to express that all staff is aware that when we have a self-pay patient,...

they know any specimens collected are separate from the physicians charges, as this goes to the laboratory, which is a separate entity from Acacia OB/GYN. This is always relayed to the patients when they are scheduling their appointments and given prices. The patient complaint states that we " charged for an additional pa smear". This is not the case, only one pap smear was billed out along with the STD testing, which we also make patients aware of. Generally, STD checks are recommended for a woman of a certain child bearing, sexually active lifestyles but even then this is brought to the patient's attention twice before any specimen is collected. Once, when the patient is being triaged, she will be given the option if she would like to opt out of the STD testing and just remain with routine examination and secondly, in the exam room, the patient is told by the physician. I would also like to make clear that we did not order nor perform any "labwork" for the patient as the letter states. Labwork would refer to bloodwork or blood analysis the patient might have got., which this was not the case. I think this might have just been confusions with the pap smear. Furthermore, on 4-20-17 at 2:10pm one of our receptionist took a call from the patient regarding this matter. It seems after an explanation was given to the patient she understood. And we were then confused as to why then the patient took 3 months to file a complaint after that initial call on 4-20-17. We also have on file signed consents that patient signed in regards to financial obligation and consent for treatment. In conclusion, for the reasons listed above is why we feel we should not have to cover these laboratory fees, which as explained, are a separate fee(s) from our practice. We have also attached the patient case received 4-20-17 in regards to this matter. Please feel free to contact us at [redacted] for any further questions.  [redacted], Practice SupervisorAcacia OB/GYN Schertz16977 IH 35 North, Suite 260Schertz, Texas 78154
