Review: As my family was moving from Richmond to Christiansburg in March 2013, my wife needed medical care and went to Academic Primary Care Associates. She was seen by a doctor for about 15 minutes. At that time, we did not know that our [redacted] health plan from Richmond did not cover care at our new home. In August 2013, we learned of the plan coverage area problem and switched our health plan to [redacted] plan, effective retroactively to April 1, 2013. To our knowledge, Academic Primary Care Associates did not notify us that [redacted] refused payment for the March 2013, service until spring 2014. By then, [redacted]'s six-month window for appealing a rejected claim was over.So my complaint is that the billing practices of Academic Primary Care Associates have prevented us from the benefits of our health plan, and so far, they refuse to reduce their bill for $309.Desired Settlement: I would like Academic Primary Care Associates to reduce their bill to account for their poor billing practices. I think a reduction to $150 is reasonable, which I would promptly pay.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.I received via Revdex.com email and an Internet link it contained that the medical provider had accepted my proposed settlement. I indicated on the web site that this result was satisfactory to me. Presently, I am awaiting receipt of a bill from the provider showing the reduced amount. When that arrives, I will promptly pay it. Until the payment is made, I believe leaving the complaint open would be the best situation.
