Good customer service and honest work practices is what sets your business apart from othersMy experience with G*** Construction lacked bothI was referred to MrG*** who came out promptly to give me an estimate for a wooden deckWe agreed on a price and he emailed me the contract within a day or twoThe contract was fine except it didn't include a time frameI asked him to the contract to include a time frame; he said he wouldI also asked for his business addressHis response was a phone text message with a picture of his business card (which did not have an address)A few days later MrG*** called me and said that he'd underbid the job thus increasing my cost by $He sent a revised contract that still did not include a time frame or a business addressNevertheless, I agreed to the terms and gave him the requested down paymentHalfway through the construction process, I realized that MrG*** did not build decks and had contracted the job out to a third partyI had no knowledge that he wouldn't be the one doing the deck, nor did I know the men that he sentMrG*** contacted me stating that his guys would be finished with the deck in a day or two and asked if I could pay him the remaining balance immediatelyOur contract stated "balance to be paid upon completion" so I declined paying him until after it passed the county inspection; he was fine with thatThe men were 85% done with the deck when they asked me to call and schedule the inspectionThe inspector told the men specifically what he wanted them to correct; MrG*** was also advisedTo bring the deck in compliance, a concrete staircase landing had to be installed which MrG*** says he didn't factor into the price, thus increasing my cost again by another $He asked me if I could pay him some of the money owed so he could at least pay his guysThinking that they had made all required corrections at this point, I obligedWhen the deck didn't pass a second time, MrG*** called me with the rudest tone ever, claiming that I never had any deck plans and that he feels like he's stuck in the middle of everythingI explained to him that both the deck plans and permit were on site throughout the entire process, and that he put himself in the middle when he hired other men to do the jobHe assured me that he would come over later that evening to see personally what needed to be done; He never called never showedThe deck failed three inspections total simply because the men did not do what the inspector had askedThe deck was in jeopardy of having to be torn down completely since the footers and foundation wasn't inspected in accordance with county procedure, but the inspector decided that wasn't necessary at this timeThree weeks later and I still haven't heard from MrG***I finally had to come to the conclusion that he wasn't interested or doesn't know how to rectify the situationI now have to find someone who can bring my deck up to code
