Review: IN JUNE 2011 MY CANNON STAR WRITER 300 WAS TAKEN IN FOR REPAIR. THROUGH OUT THE YEARS 2011/2012 I CALLED REGULARLY /STOP IN TO SEE ABOUT THE STATUS OF MY ITEM WHEN IN THE AREA. WHEN I CALLED I WAS ALWAYS TOLD THAT THE PART REQUIRED FOR REPAIR WAS EITHER "ON ORDER" OR THAT THE STORE WAS SEARCHING FOR A SIMILAR USED PRODUCT FROM WHICH TO OBTAIN A WORKABLE PART. THESE CONVERSATIONS WERE FOR THE MOST PART WITH MR. [redacted].

ON JULY 1ST, I WAS TOLD BY THE RECEPTIONIST THAT MY ITEM "WAS THERE & THAT SHE HAD SEEN IT IN THE BACK". "THE STORE WOULD BE CLOSED UNTIL MONDAY & TO CALL NEXT WEEK OR THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED BY THE OWNER". THE FOLLOWING WEEK AN OWNER (SOMEONE ELSE) DID CALL BACK & TOLD ME THAT "THE ITEM HAD BEEN DISCARDED", "WHEN AN ITEM IS AROUND THE SHOP FOR MORE THAN A FEW MONTHS & IS NOT REPAIRED IT IS THROWN OUT". THE RECEPTIONIST HAD TOLD ME, "THAT SHE HAD BEEN MISTAKEN" REGARDING SEEING MY ITEM.

LATER ON, WITHIN THE WEEK, I CALLED AGAIN TO SPEAK WITH MR. [redacted]. WHO TOLD ME TO GIVE HIM MY EMAIL ADDRESS & THAT"HE WOULD GET IN TOUCH WITH ME SOON & THAT WE COULD WORK THIS OUT". I MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF URGENCY AS I AM TO TO TAKE A WRITTEN EXAM ON 8/9/2013 & THAT COMPUTERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED BUT THE STAR WRITER WHICH I HAVE USED ON MANY OCCASIONS WILL ALLOWED.

AS OF JULY 25TH, 2013 I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM MR. [redacted]. SUBSEQUENT PHONES HAVE RESULTED IN MY BEING TOLD BY NOW TWO SEPARATE RECEPTIONISTS THAT, "HE IS NOT IN". I HAVE LEFT MESSAGES THAT I WOULD BE MOST WILLING TO RECEIVE A FAIR CASH SETTLEMENT SO THAT I MIGHT PURCHASE ANOTHER ACCEPTABLE ITEM IN TIME FOR THE EXAM WHICH IS 15 DAYS AWAY.Desired Settlement: IF ACC IS NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH AN ITEM OF EQUAL VALUE THEN THEY SHOULD PROVIDE ME WITH THE CASH VALUE OF MY ITEM SO THAT I MIGHT TAKE MY EXAM ON TIME BY PURCHASING ANOTHER.

Attached are the documents I found for the customer. This account was from last year and I don't recall the specifics of his account. However, below is my recollection after reading our notes....

5/24/2012 - Customer dropped off Canon printer for service. Within a week we contacted the customer with a proposal for the repair of his machine and the customer approved the repair. For the first few weeks we had trouble locating the parts to complete the repair and the customer was notified of that and Mr. [redacted] agreed to wait until we located the parts.

After locating the parts, several months passed and we did not hear back from the customer until fall of that same year. The New parts we had replaced (carriage-head assy') dried up and siezed due to non-use a few weeks after installation. Per our check-in sheet we don't store units abandoned or unaccounted for after 30-days. [redacted] and [redacted] made the effort of setting Mr. [redacted] printer aside so that we did not dispose it of along with other abandoned units.

March of 2013- customer called in to inquire again about his machine but it had been so long that we had already by that time disposed of his unit. I [redacted] advised the customer we still had his machine but I was confused with another customers machine of similar model.

We work or 100's of machines each month and it is nearly impossible for us to have a recollection of each unless the technicians make the personal effort of reminding themselves of that specific unit. We advised customer we would make the effort of locating another machine like it but we have been unsucsessful in doing so. This machine was manufactured 2005 and it is nearly imposible to find one avaiable right away.
