Make absolute sure that this company will inspect your roof before hiring them to do a home inspection! I hired *** ***, the owner of Accent Home Inspections to perform a complete home inspection, as we are in the process of purchasing a home The cost of the service was $ Once *** was on site, he refused to properly and thoroughly inspect the roof, meaning he would not get on his ladder and access the roof as almost any other home inspector would have His claim was that it was a safety issue, simply to being a story home There are no issues as far as getting safe footing, etc, it came across as if he simply didn't want to get on the roof, which to us was an important part of the home inspection seeing as how the roof is first line of defense for a home and not cheap to replace should there be an issue After the fact, I asked a competing inspection company for a quote and made sure they would access the roof, I sent pictures so that they could see that it was a story home, with no problem gaining safe footing with the proper ladder This competing company quoted the same cost ($400) and guaranteed the roof would be properly and fully checked out Needless to say, I am already out the $and wishing I had not done business with Accent Home Inspection in the first place I reached out to *** to give him the chance to work this issue out with me personally, he instead tried to go through my realtor in response to my issue which I found to be rather unprofessional as well The things that *** actually did properly inspect, I was happy with, although I am left wondering if how thorough he was overall due to the roof issue I gave him almost weeks to reach back out and make this right, and alas, here we are I will now be looking into either paying for another inspection altogether, or at the least trying to find somebody that will inspect just the roof As if this process hasn't been costly enough already I will likely be filing a formal complaint with the Revdex.com in the days to come and realize that at such time this review may be removed in place of my complaint
