Access Medical Reviews (3)

The worst experience I have ever had, billing rules change from person to person even family member to family memberhad an issue with them on 5/11/nice of them to call back that morning but only to start more of an issue on the phone while at work I would not use access medical even in an emergency situation

The new wheelchair that I purchased from Access Medical in October was taken for repair in October and I cannot get him to return it to me. In October of 2015, I purchased a [redacted] wheelchair from Mr. [redacted], owner of Access Medical. Two weeks later, both batteries stopped working and he advised me that he would have to take it and replace a defective part that was causing the battery to drain. He said that he didn't know how long it would take to get the part, but that he would give me a loaner. The loaner serves the purpose, but it is not what I purchased and I have been trying to get my wheelchair back from him for six months. My son, daughter, and granddaughter have all had contact with him, attempting to get an answer as to when he would return it, but he will not answer nor give a return date. He is very rude and most recently, he has had no communication.I would appreciate your help in getting my wheelchair back. This is the information regarding the transaction. I purchased the Motorized Wheelchair in October and paid Access Medical two equal payments by personal checks:10/19/15: Check [redacted] in the amount of $787.5011/16/15: Check [redacted] in the amount of $787.50 I live alone at [redacted] and must use the wheelchair at all times. I really need to have the wheelchair that I purchased. Thank you for your help with this. [redacted]Desired SettlementI want the new wheelchair that I purchased delivered to my apartment immediately. It has been six months and Mr. [redacted] has not given me any updates or returned my calls to let me know what to expect.

Vendor (owner)quoted a minimum wheelchair rental rate of $45.00 which I believed to include up to 15 days. He also quoted a 3 week rental for $75.00 and a 30 day rental for $95.00. However he wanted a 30 day deposit of $95.00 which I gave with a credit card.Wheelchair was picked up by me on 5:30 PM Saturday, August 23, 2014 and returned by me about noon on August 28, 2014. A total of 5 days.Vendor will not agree to any refund after considerable dialogue. I feel I should receive a $50.00 refund since I only had the wheelchair 5 days.Product_Or_Service: wheelchair renta;Order_Number: cust. #1252Account_Number: inv.#XXXXXXXXDesired SettlementI feel a $50.00 refund credit to my credit card would be appropriate or a check for subject amount would be agreeable.Business Response 1. We NEVER charge a deposit!2. Our minimum rental is $45 for 2 days $5 additional days3. $55. For a week $30 additional weeks4. $75. For 2 weeks $30 addn weeks5. $95. For 3 weeks $30 addn weeks6. $115 For 1 month $30 addn weeks $95 addn months.Mr [redacted] said he wasn't sure how long Medicare insurance would take. I suggested I give it to him for a month for a 3 week rate. He accepted & signed the paperwork. This could have saved him $80 over renting week to week. He has already spent 20 min arguing with me. I told him he was entitled to keep the chair for the rest of the month but he declined.Consumer Response [redacted] 4:30 PM (18 hours ago)to me [redacted] Thank you very kindly for your reply. I went to your web site & agreed with your assessment. Somehow my reply of Sept. 24 doesn't appear; only the fax that I sent separately. However I did notice that Page 1 doesn't appear.. Anyway, I still feel that Access Medical is unfair with their business practice in requiring a 30 day rental deposit for a broken wheelchair (which was noted at the time of rental)) & when I returned the chair after a few days (Saturday to the following Thursday) he refused to charge me the minimum fee of $45 which he quoted for 2 weeks. I really don't expect that he will change his mind & refund the $50 due me but the public should know how this man does business. Thanks again for your interest in my complaint & your service to the community. Sincerely, [redacted]
